Just placed the order. For my D, the food chopper and a meal starter kit. For myself, the mixing bowl and ground meat browning/mashing tool.
Thanks, everyone! This was fun.

I recently ordered wooden spoons and a 3-cup Prep Set (glass) from Pampered Chef. I hadn’t bought anything from them in years. I ordered to support a relative who was sponsoring the party.
Last week I need to heat up some left over broccoli in the microwave. I used one of the glass prep cups. To my surprise, the entire glass shattered. They were billed as microwave safe. I never had an issue with any of the other products.
Both of my kids wanted rice cookers when they got their first apartments. For DS, I also found a small crock pot and he liked that a lot. DD has a regular size crock pot…nothing fancy…just a dial (not digital). It gets a lot of use.
But both had that pampered chef chopper!
A lot of my favorites were listed above, including the microwave ‘sauce pan’ thing. I have the small one, with the handle and a bigger one that looks like a casserole dish. Yes, you must tell your daughter you can’t put a plastic ‘sauce pan’ on the regular burner to heat up soup. (ask me how I know; don’t worry, she has a masters degree to help her get through life). I have the large batter bowl and use it often, and even used it once to make a princess birthday cake where you bake the cake in it and flip it over and put the Barbie (at least the head and chest) in it, frost the ‘skirt’ and eat away. The 9x13 bar pan and the smaller one (not sure the size) but use it to heat and brown by baking things like egg rolls and tarts.
I like the little tools like the crinkle chopper thing you can slice veggies so they get a crinkle cut edge. One I really like is the onion slicer, that looks like an old Afro comb, but you stick it in the onion and then slice between the prongs and all the slices come out the same thickness. I think it cost about $3 (another reason I like it).
I also like the cookbooks but I find those at the thrift store (and a lot of other Pampered Chef stuff that people buy at parties they are forced to go to and don’t like. Stick with the basics and not the holiday items and serving dishes or they’ll end up at the thrift store.
OK this story has nothing to do with this thread, but yours reminded me of it.
My “all AP” kid was in high school. He needed to boil water. I or someone else (my mom and my aunt were here) was going to help him. He said “I know how to boil water” and proceeded to fill a Pyrex measuring cup with water and turn on the stove!. He is now a great cook, so there’s that :).
Yes, a lot of my family was staying at an AirB&B and my niece wanted tea but there was no electric kettle. There was a microwave, a coffee maker, and a stove with cookware available, but she couldn’t figure out how to boil water for tea. Honor student.
She also stayed at my house and wanted tea. I had a tea kettle (so she recognized that’s how you boil water). One of the stove burners (gas) ignition switch didn’t work but we just didn’t use it or lit it with a match if we needed the 4th burner. She switched it on and didn’t wait for the gas to come on. I finally walked into the kitchen and said 'Can’t you smell the gas?" She didn’t know what to do about it. Honor student; a little lacking in common sense.
Does anyone have the fancy PC mandoline? Is it as great as the reviews say? Thanks!
I don’t, but do have a ‘regular’ one that I use occasionally. It’s pretty dangerous.
Thanks. I have an OxO one, and yup, watch the fingers! The fancy one is supposed to be less dangerous to operate.
Mine isn’t the branded Pampered Chef one, but it is the same design. I like it, but don’t use it that often. My knife skills are pretty good. Taking it out and cleaning it after isn’t worth it unless I need it for something specific (which is never).
Thanks! I’ve never cut myself while chopping veggies but it seems like I’ll be making food for quite some crowds this summer with everyone’s birthdays coming up… so was looking for tools to speed up the process.
The dish I use my mandolin for the most is scalloped potatoes because I want the layers of potatoes to be all the same thickness. Maybe in the summer I’d use it for german potato salad for the same reason?
It goes in the dishwasher for cleaning. And then I turn it on immediately because, yes, it is so sharp and don’t want fingers reaching in for something.
There was one for sale at my charity thrift store (where I volunteer) and we made it $5. Really…other than the name, it looked pretty much like all the other mandolines we have gotten as donations. VERY sharp.
Darn it! I just saw this thread after being invited and ordering. So, I already have the chopper, which is amazing, and the Garlic press.
I order the lettuce chopper. You can use it on meat, too. But DH likes lettuce chopped small, so I thought I’d try it.
It looks a lot safer than my traditional mandolin!
It was this one. Almost $30 cheaper! It looked like someone bought it and never used it…and they donated it. It’s not as robust as the one @BunsenBurner linked. And the one Bunsen linked gets some better reviews!

That is similar to the Oxo one I have. Not very safe and not very speedy!
I’m going to order the fancy one. I’ll let you know how I like it.
That’s how I get a lot of my stuff! I got a $105 baker for $3.50 at the thrift store. New.
I also have an apple corer, some shaped bread baking tubes, and various other things from the thrift store. Some day I’ll donate them all back.
This is the onion slicer I like, although this must be a new and improved model as it has a bigger handle and it costs $5 instead of $3
