I had those bread shape tube things. They were kind of a fail for me!
Omg I saw one of these today at an estate sale and had NO IDEA what it was!!! lol - looked like some odd hair comb to me!!
The onion slicer gets a lot of use at my house. I love grilled onions (brats, fajitas, grilled veggies) and it is so easy to grab and slice.
I think even Julia Child would like it. For me, it is faster so no tears when slicing.
There are some Pampered Chef things I think are more trouble than they are worth. I use the plastic measuring cup that slides up and down for dry/wet ingredient but I don’t use it the right way as it is too much trouble. I just use the liquid side and pour things, even dry stuff. Toast tongs? Please (I got them as prizes or for free as a bonus). If I remember to use the serving things like the ‘mini offset server’, great, but usually I forget I have it.
I’ve never used the fancy bread tubes, but I got them at the thrift store for $1 so why not?
I used to have and use the fancy bread tubes. Pillsbury used to make a canned French bread loaf that slid into them perfectly. Or maybe about 3/4 of it did. I can’t remember - it’s been a long time. Anyway, I’d bake the bread in the tube and then slice and use for open-faced cucumber sandwiches. Pretty shapes!
I think Pillsbury quit making that product, so I got rid of them. That was the only way I ever used them.
At our Kroger bakery, I can buy bread dough to make a loaf of french bread. My mother used to buy it to make fried bread for breakfast.
I think I may buy some and slice off enough for one tube.
Hope it works for you!
We don’t have Krogers in our town. They are in other parts of the state but not here.
Edit - I can’t recall if it was baked with both lids of the tube on or not??
I bought one of those flower bread tubes. Cute, but I think I only used it once and it was easily assigned to the garage sale assortment when I moved 3 years ago.
Funny timely story.
If you know me, you know I am
Not a good gift receiver. Give me words or spend time with me, great but I don’t like receiving gifts necessarily.
This morning I woke up to these side by side on the counter. My
Old PC toaster oven pan and a new one.
My H who doesn’t cook at all noticed how seasoned the old one is (it’s at least 25 years old) and thought that was a bad thing! So he ordered a new one off eBay - this is also funny cause my H DOES NOT shop and knows it’s better to not buy me gifts.
When I saw it he said “happy Mother’s Day! I know you hate gifts so I saved it for Father’s Day” ![]()
25 years later I use this ALL the time. Don’t have a toaster oven anymore but use it in the oven for roasting separate veggies, baking a couple slices of bacon, anything in small quantities.
Now I can roast two separate vegetables for my picky husband who doesn’t like things touching!! ![]()
I pro is my old one is clean just well used!
We have used our BBQ boss grill spatula for about 30 years and still use it all the time! Its the only thing I purchased a the parties that I used.
My H loves to cook and loves gadgets. He has a French-made mandoline that he purchased from a kitchen shop he frequents. The owner of the shop loves it when H walks in because he asks her what’s new and what he should buy. This is the mandoline we’ve got. Once you set it up, it’s very fast.
Thank you!
That is one expensive gadget!
I’ll look for it at the thrift store.
