I’m not very educated on this trend. Have briefly heard of Pandora bracelets etc. with the beads and charms. Yesterday I bought/created a necklace for a gift for my daughter using Bauble Lulu beads from The Good Bead. How cute and fun! And can easily get expensive, but I refrained from overload!

I ended up making her a necklace since I wasn’t sure what size bracelet she would wear…figured if she liked it, I could buy a bracelet base and a couple extra beads for Christmas and she could change/create herself!

I wondered about this trend. My daughter received a Pandora bracelet as a birthday present from a friend last year with a few “starter” beads. I thought that it was quite pretty, but she hasn’t taken the bracelet out of the box since her birthday. She said “no one her age (17) wears them.” It sounds like the trend may be on the downturn among older teens.

People were all over them at the store I was at yesterday and all the sales ladies were sporting their creations. My D had seen them late in the summer and she loves colorful quirky jewelry so I think she’ll have fun with it. She’s good about “moderation” in anything though so I’m not too worried about her breaking the bank over a creation. :)

I know, they’re pretty and it’s nice to have the option to buy additional charms for a special occasion. Perhaps the popularity varies by region or school - we’re in New England.

My daughter is very picky about what she’ll wear. I don’t buy her anything nowadays unless I am absolutely positive that she’ll like it. I got tired of running to the store with returns.

She was just voted “most fashionable” in her class, so she’s way ahead of me!

I have an almost full Pandora Bracelet that I started about 3 years ago. At the time they weren’t all the rage, as they are now. The place where I bought the bracelet and first beads also had ■■■■■ Breads – only some of which fit Pandora. Since then several other lines have come out. D wouldn’t wear a Pandora for anything – but then she’s not much on bracelets.

I have a Chamelia bracelet (just like Pandora and ■■■■■). While I love it, my daughter says it’s for the parent generation and I think she’s right. I also have a Brighton Charm Bracelet which, personally, I like more because I have chosen the dangling charms for it (it was a gift and the person giving it to me also has chosen those). It reminds me of my OLD charm bracelet from the 60’s and 70’s. Again…not something my daughter likes at all… but I love it.

If I were going to do anything with Pandora or the like for a kiddo, it would be a keychain.

I think of them as being either for younger teens / tweens, or being for the Chico’s generation that’s desperately trying to stay young, but it just doesn’t work. A little too twee, I think the word is. I kind of feel that way about Brighton too.

I have a friend whose S just graduated fr. a very small private sch.
It is the custom for parents of each class member to buy a grad. gift for every member of the senior class.
This year’s class had 21 grads. The mother of one of the girls in the class bought Pandora bracelets for every girl in the class.

I have an older friend who bought a Pandora bracelet as a Christmas gift for her college freshman grand daughter(at her request) a couple of years ago. She attends a private all female college in the south. It apparantly was all the rage then.

I bought a bracelet and gift certificate for beads for my D who turned 13 in May this year. She had the best time picking out her beads and wears her bracelet lots! She prefers it not full, with just a few beads.

I have a couple of Pandora bracelets. The key to not having it look too Chico-ish (and I don’t really like Brighton for myself either) is to not overload it. I have an oxidized silver bracelet and I added gold charms and only have about 5 of them on it. The gold charms are very expensive, but it looks really cool. The clasp on the bracelet is gold, too. My other one is a woven bracelet and looks good with a few charms, too. You can only put a max of 7 on the woven bracelets.

My D is 18 and very style-conscious. Her BF gave her a Pandora bracelet/necklace and she loves it and wears it constantly. It’s the small leather necklace, but she often twists it around her wrist twice and wears it as a bracelet. He gave it to her with 2 beads, and I gave her 2 more for graduation - they weren’t Pandora, but some other type of bead that fits on them. All her beads are silver, no colors, and no dangles. She loves it. I don’t think she’d ever load it up with beads - I can’t picture her with more than a half-dozen on it at a time. I think it looks really good on her. It’s kind of a western/country/boho look that I think is “in,” especially since she loves country music.

I had never heard of this. They look cute. However, after the last bracelet craze (nominations or zoppini) that took hold for my D a few years back, I will try to stay out of it, just because after a while these things usually go in the drawer, and are never worn again (in my family). I like making things, so if I wanted something like this for myself, I might go to Michaels and buy supplies there for something similar.

I visited my sisters and mother a few weeks ago and we went into a store that sells ■■■■■ beads and the bracelets. Even got a little tutorial about the company and feud between the two brothers who founded Pandora …
My sisters bought them for themselves and have begun to collect the beads. They are cute and all , but I love my David Yurman bracelets and pretty much wear them all the time.
I won’t be joining the trend , but can see that they might be fun to collect and create the way you like

I looked at the ■■■■■ bracelet website and I didn’t like the full bracelets >.<

However, my friend got me a Pandora for my birthday last year with a single bead in my favorite color and I really like it! I would wear it more if it wasn’t too big for me. Unfortunately, my wrist is really small so even the smallest size is too big.
