@mommysmalls If you have any concerns or questions I would reach out to the advisor and ask. You can say “I don’t want to hover but I have these questions.” You will get a feel for the type they are as they respond to you. I know advisors who say things like “oh that’s a problem I will figure out what to do.” I think more seasoned teachers tend to be more willing to advocate for your kid. My son’s coach is a long time teacher and once my son mentioned off hand he had a lot of tests and the coach sat him down and made him list every one and the date and class etc. to make sure non of the teachers were breaking the rules. My son’s advisor is a “tow the party line” type and would have simply commiserated and suggested ways to study. Needless to say I tried to get my son to switch but he likes his advisor emotionally so he won’t switch.
