Congratulations, CBB! That’s very cool!
RM, my biggest fear was that S1 wouldn’t be walking by the time S2 arrived. He started doing so at 15 mo and one week; S2 arrived a week later while Kristi Yamaguchi was skating her way to gold. This has earned me lifetime TV watching rights to Olympic figure skating coverage.
The hardest part of two under two was the absolute beating my hands took because I was washing my hands constantly after all those diaper changes. I learned to nap in the recliner with a baby in each arm. Delicious.
Another advantage to close-in-age babies: they are in college at the same time – better chance for FA.
Congratulations, CBBBlinker! How wonderful!
WOW congrats! CBB!
Please post when you get your poems destination.
We will want pictures, CBB!
Kudos, CBB! What fun!
Counting Down, lovely image
I find it hard to believe I drove home in a blizzard last night. Seriously, it looks like Christmas here. My poor daffodils!
What a crazy year weather wise.
The only way I can explain this spring is that I bought a new power washer I’m eager to use and cute sandals
I should not tempt the weather goddess so!
So tonight I get to enjoy one of mch’s birthday gifts…Jethro Tull (Ian Anderson). Then next week Chicago with Earth Wind and Fire. I’m glad mch’s relatives are kind enough to support these artists in their retirement tours
Congrats, CBB! That is so cool.
RM- waiting to hear!
kmc - I would love to see Chicago and (especially) EW & F.
This was an exhausting week. I put in about 65 hours of work including the few last Sunday. Glad it’s over but hope this is not a trend.
The good news- both kids are home! D arrived on Thurs PM and S (who has not been home since Dec.27th)got home yesterday. H and H popped in briefly at my office, of course S was asleep by the time I got home. But I am so excited to have both of them in the house!
Congrats CBB!!! Way to go! If you are still looking for comfortable lightweight pants look at Eddie Bauer. Last year I found pants that quickly became my favorite pair. In fact I went back and bought them in two other colors! They are perfect for travel, can be dressed up or down and are quick wash and dry. Hopefully they are carrying them again this year.
Congratulations on your sidewalk poem, CBB! That is wonderful; what a cool idea!
Good luck with the new grandbaby, Rochmom!
Arabrab, my D’s roommate was at the skating competition last week and said the exact same thing!
Hi Moda!! Glad to hear from you!
kmc - We took the kids to a Chicago/EarthWind and Fire concert years and they still say it was one of the best they have ever been to. (I’ve seen Bruce a few times, so there is no contest,
)
All good in Woodyworld. We’re downsizing. I’ve been promoted twice in the past 6 months. Kids have both moved into larger apts. Same GF and BF. No engagements. S is thinking about B-school. D’s had some pix of her work in Architectural Digest and Vogue…no name credit, just her firm…all good!
Where that new baby???!!
Congrats, CBB, that is very cool indeed.
NM, do you remember the name of the pants you liked?
Congrats, CBBB.
I’m in London – very light period as ShawWife and I were supposed to be vacationing in Turkey. I have a few meetings in London and one in Zurich before I head to Istanbul. I’m giving the keynote speech at a conference on Friday and I haven’t been able to get either an explicit time when I am talking and it took a while to get the name of the hotel.
Good morning! Busy 10 days.
Moda, I hear you about not wanting to jump back in to the college admissions process. I was at a lunch earlier in the week and the guy across from me had a bright 8th grader who only wants to go to Stanford. He seemed pretty confident of her admission. She is a kid who will attend a good suburban public, no hooks. I referred him to CC.
CBB, so impressed by your poetry!!!
RM, hope all is well with the grandbaby and family.
Z, so happy that you popped in and updated us.
Arabrab, I’ll have to get to figure skating Worlds one day! Sounds so fun.
Took Son to NYC on April 1-3 to see Hamilton (twice). Lin M-M was on vacation all week, so we saw two different Alexander Hamiltons. We heard about it in advance (on CC, of course), so we had time to work through the stages of grief before we made the trip. The show was still fabulous. So fabulous. Every part.
Son is a joy to travel with. He never complains. We went to the Trinity Church cemetery to see the graves of Hamilton and his friends and family, toured Fraunces Tavern (big George Washington connection) and stopped at Century 21 for just long enough to buy colorful wedding socks for the guys. Also spent 4 hours at the MOMA and toured the Upper East Side Tenement Museum. Had all the weather. (Warm and sunny, cool and rainy, cold and gale force winds.) Ate some great food. Overall a very nice trip.
Watched college basketball Monday and Tuesday nights. What a game on Monday. I got 2d place in my men’s basketball pool (353 participants.) I won a Go Pro which will be delivered to my office tomorrow. I have no idea what to do with a Go Pro.
Fiance’s wedding shower was yesterday. Ladies from her church. I invited 4-5 people, 2 came, which was a bit awkward, because I couldn’t circulate as much as I should have among the church ladies. They received enough gifts to pretty much fill every square inch of their apartment. (It’s SUCH a tiny place.) I hope they just store most of it (in Fiance’s house, not mine!) for a couple of years, until they get a larger place.
No new grandbaby yet. Still waiting. S and GS stopped over yesterday for a bit. DIL was trying to get some rest.and that is difficult to do with a 15 month old who has decided that he doesn’t like to sleep.
Congrats on the poem CBB! How exciting!!!
Sounds like you had a nice time MP.
Nothing much going on from our side. Work was very hectic last week with me being gone the week prior. Hopefully things will calm down a bit this week. They won’t let DIL go too much longer is my understanding from S.
Missy, sounds like a lovely trip.
Rm, keep us posted on g-baby watch
Shaw, take good care in Istanbul. Its getting a little crazy there of late…have a dear friend living there and occasionally needing to give proof of life.
So round one of April-in-the-Key (my made up name for attending h’s birthday concerts) was intriguing. Ian Anderson performed a rock opera of Jethro Tull (the agriculturalist his band was named after.) He’s still pretty spry on the flute at 68, though hs vocal range has been seriously compromised. He offset this by having two singers on video trading off as part of the "rock opera/story. I’d preferred to have seen those young talents live and interacting with him on stage.
Pretty cool. kmcmom!
MP – hope you weren’t hit by either of those hailstorms.
We dodged the storms. To the westHail the size of grapefruit going clean through roofs and car windows.
The largest we ever had at our house was baseball sized hail, back in '95. It sounded like baseballs were being thrown at our house. Broke windows, etcetera
Insurance premiums are high here but you never to pay for a new roof… Usually a hailstorm every decade or so
Baby arrived yesterday at 2:10 after a fairly short labor. DIL went into labor around 9:30. At 10:30 she got here mother to take her to the hospital - things were going fast and she didn’t want S to drive home and then go back to the hospital. She said that she pushed only for about 3 minutes once they told her it was time and then had to stop her because the cord was wrapped around the babies neck and tied in a knot. Baby and DIL are fine.
So we have a new granddaughter. 7 lbs. 13 oz. I never found out how long she is. When we were there around 5 last night they were just getting around to giving her a bath. Everyone was doing well though. She has a set of lungs on her so her older brother is not going to have the upper hand at all!
GS is fair, blond hair and blue eyes - takes after what I looked like as a baby. GD looks to have dark hair and dark eyes - that would be my H. Skin tone I couldn’t tell. She was not happy about the bath so was red.
Oh a little girl
Congrats to all RM!
BTW - D (who turns 25 tomorrow) had the same cord issue and she is just fine.
Thanks for the baby details, RM, and congrats to all!
D is visiting here this week. She’s working out of her company’s office here so she didn’t have to take any vacation, and fit in two weekends. However, even though the office here knew she was coming, they didn’t have a lot of things set up in advance, so every time she needs to use the restroom she has to find someone to let her in, since all the doors are controlled by key cards and the person who was suppose to arrange access didn’t and is on vacation this week.
S is still waiting on hearing back from some law schools. His current admitted first choice has a seat deposit due Friday. It can be paid online so we we’re waiting to see who else he hears back from before then.
