Parents of the HS Class of 2009 (Part 1)

Good to hear from you woody! How are you doing? I am marching here in MN.

Party was fun but I always feel like I don’t get to talk with anyone for very long. Wine was good and food was plentiful. I will try to post a photo of the food prep. Still need to wash table linens and put away wine glasses. I am tired.

That’s great NorthMinn… I just love readng about your parties!
Things are fine in Woody world…D is still with her BF from freshman year of college. S is living with the GF he met in Shanghai. Both S and D are close in NYC… we see them about once a week. S is consdering grad school. D was a project manager for a big project at her design firm and it was showcased in Architectural Digest last month. H’s parents parents are still with us. MIL is currently in rehab after a fall. H is still doing consulting; my job is going great… I really am enjoying the administrative side of things… who knew??
Also, we down-sized last year to a townhouse on the water. The development has a marina for the boat and a pool and we are 7th heaven!

NM, congrats on a party well done. Woody, good to hear from you. Is the townhouse a multi-floor affair?

Just had dinner in Sao Paulo – I tried a fish called Pintado that comes from the Amazon. OK, a bit like monkfish.

Hi woody, great to hear from you, glad all is well and that you are marching on Saturday. I said on another thread that it would be great if all of the cc marchers could meet up and march together, but the logistics would be impossible

Oregon, fun video  Of course, like a true northerner I was thinking to myself “I could drive in that no problem” but of course in reality ice and hills don’t mix!

Wish I was going to the march. May just have to drink a bottle of scotch and work on secession plans instead  I’ll be with you all in spirit(s)

I am planning on participating in Saturday’s march in NYC. I have a feeling there will be too many participants. There are staggered starting times because only 8,000 people can fit into the starting point at the United Nations.

I am excited about the March here in MN. Glad it will be a bit warmer!

Just so you realize the political inclinations of where I live, the closest Women’s March is in Son’s college town, 45 minutes away from the city.

Speaking of Son, he starts student teaching today. I am crossing fingers, toes and anything else that can be crossed and I don’t want to speak too soon and curse it, but he may actually graduate in May.

Waving hello to @woody!

Party pix looked great, @NorthMinnesota. As I asked on our FB page, “Where’s the bus?”

Not trying to rub it in, but we’re still having stellar weather here in FL. H’s B & SIL are arriving today for several weeks (their house is 15 mins from us) so that will be fun.

I’ll be marching “in spirit” with everyone.

Yes, the was a video of our neighborhood. School closed for 11th day due to the current ice storm.
We are not having it but our neighbors across the river are a mess. We just plain lucked out.
Our next door neighbors are trying to get to DC tomorrow but as the airport is in the center of the ice
storm —perhaps not.

mp, fingers crossed for your S!

CB, really do not want to hear about it (:|.
So jealous.

cq, I am on the fence about the march. I am going to see if we have violence again the day before.
I really try to not do violence. Scares me. My friends are 1/2 /1/2 about going.

Woody!!! so great about your D. I am going to look for a “special” article.

Shaw, applause for your S impressing his GF’s family. Nicely done.

Good morning all. This has been an odd week for me. I had/have 2 days off- Monday and today. SIL’s grandmother who lived in DC passed away last weekend so SIL and D were here through Monday. Went into work on Tues and Wed, worked from home yesterday. Spent part of my time taking the CPA ethics class that I found out I should have been taking for the last several years. I did not have to complete any continuing ed while I was out of the workforce and when I started back I didn’t have to do any as I was not listing myself as a CPA, didn’t do audit or tax, etc. Somehow the rules changed. I also need another 38 hours this year. Now I know.

We have today off as my company’s main location is very near the Capitol/on the parade route. So every 4 years we get an additional holiday. Picking up my sister at the airport later this morning.

Busy weekend but we did end up with Bridesmaid dresses picked and purchased. One more thing off the list. I do love the one she picked. Here is the link and the color she picked is glacier which is a very pretty blue. Guys will have gray tuxes. https://www.essensedesigns.com/sorella-vita/dresses/8852/

S had lazik on his eyes mid week last week and things are progressing nicely.

Love that dress, RM. D is also going with a blue, but probably darker than that. She was all set to tell her bridesmaids the color and let them pick the style dress from J Crew – but has discovered that J Crew is no longer doing wedding/bridesmaids dresses. She needs to get going on that part of the planning. She only has 2 bridesmaids wearing dresses; the 3rd will wear a shirt/blouse in the same color with pants to color of the men’s suits.

We have had 2 weeks of perfect weather here in FL, but last night the storm blew in. Not all that much rain, but incredibly windy. There was a tornado watch up overnight. Since our place is right on the beach I’m sitting here looking at the most amazing waves! May have to brave it all later to go out beachcombing. I did find a whole sand dollar the other day – which had been on my “Beach Bucket List.”

CBBBlinker - D was originally thinking a blue / gray (dusty blue) type color. This is more blue but in person there is a gray undertone that at least I don’t see on the screen. Either way it’s very pretty (I think) and since it’s stretchy it should fit both girls nicely. Only DIL came to try on. The other girl unfortunately spent the night prior in the emergency vets office. We are still waiting to find out how things went. She has 3 adopted dogs from abusive past owners. 2 are German Shepherds and they both seem to get sick a lot. The 3rd is a pit mix. All 3 are nice dogs so it’s difficult when there is an issue with them. Since they all weren’t fed/taken care of properly as pups they all have “issues”.

Oh - how I miss the ocean CBBBlinker. Doesn’t look like this year I’ll even get near it either. :frowning:

I love that dress, RM.

The dress is beautiful. very classy.
I am still very tired and on limited eating form the virus. taking longer than most people. but that is my after cancer treatment MO. grrr
My daughters walked in the marches. one in DC one in Boston. very proud of them.
One of the guys at work posted something about women in the US having the 'best" rights in the world. my point why is this a consideration. I laughed because in my female dominated profession, he had definitely benefited by being male. and is oblivious to this.

DTE - I hope you feel better soon! H has had the cough now since before Christmas. He has been to the Dr. and has been told it just takes time. Ugh. He is still waking me up at night with his coughing not that he can help it!

I too loved the dress and it will look lovely with hers. They just aren’t the flowing type of girls and this just in my mind is somewhat classic with a hint of trendy with the top.

Next up block of rooms from a hotel and the flowers in Feb. I am enjoying the planning – would enjoy it more if work wasn’t so darned busy.

H is up north visiting his father. I love H dearly, but I also love having a weekend alone. Going to a sale at the public library, a movie, restorative yoga, finally will put the Christmas linens in the attic, hopefully book and nap…
