For me the Nouveau is just my happy light Thanksgiving wine. And at 7.99/bottle I dont expect more. Actually I usually end drinking it out of my kids old Tweety Bird Glass watching Football.

If there is a road trip mayhaps we could steer the bus by the CA wine country in my neck of the woods: The Livermore Valley.

And I second the motion on the OR Wineries. When I went with my D to check out the Pacific Northwest Colleges, there was no time to scope out the local Wineries around Linfield. Maybe during her overnight

Do you think the bus could also swing down to Silicon Valley before heading over to Livermore? I’d be glad to contribute a case of Ridge red. And I would certainly bake something buttery, probably something of a chocolate nature.

I blame my inability to pick out wine on my being raised Southern Baptist. Of course, I haven’t been a Baptist since 1989, but that’s my excuse and I’m sticking to it.

I envy all of you with your students home already. Son won’t arrive until late Tuesday. But, we are making an extremely quick trip tomorrow to see his first choir concert. H wanted to make the drive, so if he’s willing to drive, I’m willing to ride.

We saw *This Is It *last night, at our 14 year old D’s insistence. So glad we saw it. Michael Jackson still “had it.” I feel so sorry for the dancers and other performers who rehearsed so hard and didn’t get to do the performances that would have been the highlight of most of their careers. The audience for the movie was about 85% my age and the rest younger. Made me want to cry…all of us paying a last tribute to an insanely talented contemporary whose life was so messed up.

Missy, my son won’t be home until late, late on Tuesday as well. Then he leaves fairly early on Sunday. I did run into a friend on Thursday night that I hadn’t seen in awhile who filled me in on all the “unhappy and hoping to transfer.” One at Connecticut College hoping to go to Colorado College, another from Colorado College looking to transfer closer to home, University of Denver, etc etc. I was a little surprised at some of the people unhappy and the schools, but it just goes to show you that there are lots of facets to acclimating to college. So NMN… How’d she like the U? I was over there for something else a few weeks ago and every was all dressed up and walking to the football game… flashback city and looked SO much fun.

We made a quick trip to Son’s school for a concert a couple of weeks ago. Afterward, he came up to me in the lobby in the company of a lovely young lady. Put his arm around her and said “Hi Mom, this is T and we are dating. Sorry I havent mentioned anything to you, I’ve been really busy.” DH says he wishes he had a photo of my face. I was so caught off guard.

First time S has announced himself “in a relationship.” Unfortunately, we had very little time and did not get to interrogate–uh–talk to --them much. We had to drive right back.

S will be home Tuesday. I hope he will tell me more than “Fine.”

Unfortunately, I don’t understand it in all its nuances, there is not much of a dating scene where S is. And plus, son doesn’t work, so not sure he can afford “to date.” Still, give us all the details!!

I got up early so I can take a nap early! ha! Going to participate in a swift water rescue drill this afternoon - actually until about midnight. It is supposed to be freezing, my husband tells me.

my question, too. that was my plan, but alas… the plan was to sleep in, and then run errands while the stores are empty during the ohio state-michigan game. (shhh…don’t tell my fanatic OSU fan neighbors. not watching THE game could have me branded a heretic in these parts)

cute story, eggmom. keep us posted. eddieodessa - I am in awe.

we won’t see D until Wednesday evening, assuming her late afternoon flight leaves Boston and arrives in Chicago on time. yeah, right.

oh, and about that bus trip? I promise not to bring Ohio wine or sing very loudly ;)

Will have to hear details of your bus trip… I suggest for the ride you get those snuggies, they can be customized if you are really creative.
D posted on her FB she went to a drag show is that part of the college experience? Oh my! I must confess i have never been to one and have no desire. She went with a group of friends. hmmmmm

The year we went to Key West for Christmas, we actually went to a Christmas Review Drag show. It was hysterical and very holiday oriented. I know some might find it offensive, but we had a great time. Marilyn Monroe. Bet Midler, Cher… good time. We do something every year - the theater, a show, something… and so, as they say, when in rome…

dte - this is an imaginary bus trip, and you are most definitely coming along! no sitting back and waiting for details! you are in charge of the snuggies ;)

H and I went to a drag club in NYC when we were young and single. It was hysterically funny with Liza and Barbra but we swear that they put something in our drinks. I was definitely hallucinating and dear H got into the cab of some ridiculously enormous construction vehicle and tried to drive it up Third Ave. about 3 in the morning. Ah youth!
DTE - I’m sure that would not happen in D’s venue.
Eggmom - Oh I can only imagine the look on your face!!

the destination is Dallas, right, missypie? so starting in CA (because that’s where most of the wine is ;)), swinging up the west coast, then over to the midwest with stops in Minnesota and Ohio, then . . . ?

I did know it was virtual but wouldnt it be fun. I happen to love Texas, military brat, and my relatives are in Minn, never been out west past Colorado. Have a friend in Washington state. I live in Mass but I’ll meet you somewhere. I can be the designated driver. gingerale is as wild as it gets here!!!

Dang. I had just typed a long entry then lost it all. DANG!

Up early? We slept in until 7!!

Bus tour begins in Orygone–nice bus with George Clooney-like driver, heated seats, and massive stereo system for singing. There is a well-appointed bathroom on board as well. I’ll pick up Oregon vino in wine country today–pre-Thanksgiving wine open houses at the wineries. Since the bus has magical powers, we can get 'round the country before the viewing at Missypie’s.

S3 turned 16 yesterday and I let him drive with me again…test is 12/4. Unfortunately, he turned the steering wheel in direct proportion to the turn of his head as we merged onto the highway, and we missed he concrete side wall by…that…much. aye yi yi.

Congrats to historyson–he is obviously working very hard!

Eggmom, I wish ONE of my boys would mention a girl…alas.

If anyone buys the new Star Trek movie, be sure to check out the “extras” --very interesting and funny.

I want to see “An Education” - is that what the movie is called? It looks wonderful. Saw “Coco before Chanel” last weekend and thought it was ok, not Fab.
