Parents of the HS Class of 2009 (Part 1)

I think of this as “rose-colored glasses syndrome”. My son has always been a very cheerful fellow, made possible by his ability to disregard (and immediately forget) negative feedback. When he gets a bad grade on his report card, he is genuinely surprised. Rose-colored glasses can be a good thing, but sometimes the negative feedback is important and needs to be addressed.

I like Origins products. They have a creamy face wash that lasts for months, and I use their “Never a dull moment” face scrub every day in the shower. They have very sensitive skin-friendly products. I also always use a lip pencil they have in a color called “pink lemonade”

Loved the Rose Parade - I don’t think I’ve ever watched the whole thing before today. Now I want to go and see it all close up someday.

SJTH - I am glad you are feeling better. That flu must’ve been why you missed my little Rose Bowl dig a few pages back ;). We are Ohio State fans simply because we live in the area. There have been lots of recipes for duck in the local paper the last few days :D

PRJ, lol–I DID miss it!! And I do feel better, though still off coffee and wine, so the world is not back in order. I loved the snowboarding dogs in the rose parade. Love the “duck” recipes, lol! We have friends coming over to watch the game–I grew up in Eugene, so have been a “Duck” for a looong time. Having three boys and a sports-loving husband, it’s watch football or live a lonely existence this week. I’m hoping for a GREAT game…and an Oregon win!! Enjoy the game!

I liked those snowboarding dogs, too. I had to work but we had it on for the residents and I caught that part…I too, PRJ, would love to go someday. I never wanted to till this year. That could be a fun trip…beats the blizzardish weather we are having right now…

The snowboarding dogs were my favorite too! And I too am ready to live somewhere with more sunshine and warmth. Like Pasadena

Hoping D2 will choose a college in a warmer climate than D1 (Boston)!

1 tree down and 1 to go. Much of the Christmas decorations are down. Still need to do the other tree and the snow village but getting there. Hope to get everything put away but next weekend at the latest.

D wants to go shopping again tomorrow so much of tomorrow will be taken up. We are going to try a different mall to see if she can find what she wants.

Happy New Year 2013 parents!

Happy New Year to All!

Had a nice time with family and friends last night. Slept most of the morning away! D1 is back at her college apt and worked last night and D2 went to BF’s house for skating and playing games. Hope everyone gets healthy and that #theoryson gets the help he needs for the new year.

Bonne Annee a mes amis!! We had a great mini ski vacation and a really fun New Years in Montreal. Counting down, dix, neuf, huit,…! Crazy Canadian-Cajun music in the city’s big square - tons of families, not the scary-crazy Times Square scene. Reaally fun!
BUT…so very very sad to drop S off this AM. I really miss his smiley face. D is still with us for a week or so. Soo happy for that. H is quite grumpy after a nerve-wracking 8 hour drive, C’est la vie!

Ah, New Year’s Day. The day when we sit at our TV sets and watch outdoor hockey.

After staying up late last night with friends over, Fang Jr discovered this afternoon that the two papers he had to rewrite for a class are… gone. Dissolved into the computer ether. Did he back them up? Surely you jest. He returns to school Sunday and classes for the new quarter start Monday, so he has to redo the papers right now. Sigh.

S is pretty much all packed up for his 6am flight back east. He’ll stay with one of his suite mates and then head back to school. He has a group of guys over tonight watching football and whatever else is on TV downstairs. D is out to dinner with some friends and H went with a friend to the basketball game.

Still have all the decorations up but will probably get to the tree at least tomorrow so I can get the thing to the curb for Monday pickup. That today is only Friday feels kind of weird.

Happy New Year!!! You all have been an intimate part of the last 18 mos of my life and I just wanted to say thanks and happy 2010 to you all.

The analyst: I went back and read the post TOS referenced and agree whole heartedly with her assessment as well as your words. DD has decided that if bio didn’t involve Chem and Cal she would be all over it but since it does she is unwilling to continue to slog through. Your post was a good reminder to me.

Oregon101: I never knew the Spanish grape thing but have had black eyed peas on New Years Day for years, If I combine it with the grape thingy next New Years no telling how lucky I’ll be in 2011.

woody our girls go back on Sunday and as much as I will miss them I have to confess that I sort of got used to the tempo of life with them away and won’t be sorry to have it back. It helps that they are so very happy at school and ready themselves to be back.

My best to all of you for a wonderful year and thanks so much for your support over the last 18 mos.

Congrats PRJ! The better team won–wow, the Ohio state quarterback was amazing!!

Historymom, nice to see you, and know your girls are so happy!

I got the garland off our banisters and mantel, but the trees still stand…hopefully all Christmas will be gone tomorrow. Oh, I was just informed there’s another football game on now…think I need a new knitting project. I have a stockpile of yarn, so I think I’ll go peruse it!

Ohio played awesome, this is true. But Oregon has a nice returning line up for next year!!

First, a Happy New Year to all of you.

Spent part of this morning helping my son pack a suitcase so that he can return to school Monday, although the U. of Alabama changed its schedule because of some little bowl game Thursday, January 7. He plans to stay with a friend for a few days. The two have all kinds of adventures planned … and I’m confident that his friend’s mom will feed him well.

SJTH, I know about the knitting project needed. In my case, it’s cross stitch. I’m working on pillowcases for various future gifts.

It was a good game wasn’t it? Sorry about your Ducks, but it does sound like they will have a strong team next year.

D still has two weeks of break but she will head east to visit friends next weekend. I will miss her, but she’ll be ready to go.

Still watching football here too - my busywork project is playing with/learning to use my new iPhone :)

Happy New Year All! I realized this morning that we will be in the thick of another college frenzie race later this year! Yikes. DD (2011) and I need to start speeding up on things. I was soooo enjoying my life of leisure -hahah  Hopefully, all I learned last year will help make it less stressful.

Oh and back to the Rose Parade - just learned that a friend’s son was one of the escorts for an Ohio State School for the Blind Marching Band member. Very cool and my friend is understandably very proud.

^ That is cool. That band was one of the highlights of the parade along with Chesley Sullenberger as parade marshall and the dogs on snowboards. And all of those beautiful floats.
