That’s what I used to say ;-0

I am almost sure I could find a dx for son. However, when it comes to “school,” he really does know how to ring that particular bell. He is a lot like his father in that he can charm the skin off of a snake, but he can also be venomous if grouchy. In raising him, I have learned to understand my H so much more!

But the thing about any kind of diagnosis is unless it interferes with life (and in the case of a student so much of their lives are about school), not much you would want to do about it. My niece is an incredibly gifted artist. I don’t know what you call a person that blows glass into the most gorgeous bowls, vases, etc… but she is incredible at it. And really, if that becomes her life’s work her undergrad is merely serving to inspire her to think wider and deeper. So will her inability to understand assignments really plaque her thru life? Probably not unless she becomes some sort of commissioned artist, you know? So if there is a diagnosis for son for being a little tightly wound at times, it does not affect him academically and for some reason, despite his boorish behavior at times, MOST of the time people other than his family LOVE him. :)

I broke open the champagne H left me and sliced up a bunch of Wisconsin summer sausage and cheese for my dinner. Not really diet friendly, but it is real food (picked up Pollan’s book In Defense of Food at the library today). I lost four pounds this week by exercising like a lunatic every day this week, but will probably undo every bit of that in the next 30 minutes. H called from his hotel in Jacksonville earlier. I think they have a pep rally to go to and then some big party tonight. A friend asked me if I wanted to go over to her house for new year’s tonight and I told her I would pass, but the house feels pretty empty right now so maybe that wasn’t the right decision after all. Have a happy New Year everybody.

Waiting for my last check of the year. Kind of stupid really because I already know that the amount will be disappointing.

Argh, sick again. The H accident/injury/surgeries have taken more out of me than I realized! Two colds in 1 month (nasty ones, too) are truly “once in a blue moon” for yours truly…sigh, trying for some humor.

Happy New Year to all my CC friends…may you be happy and healthy!

Diane

so much I want to respond too, so litle time at the moment.

TM - sorry about your travails with S. I’m thinking about you and will write more later. you’ve gotten lots of great advice which I will come back and read more carefully.

missypie - so sorry about the small check. even if anticipated, it is disappointing nonetheless.

TA - congrats on the 4 lbs! you are way ahead of me - I made (and ate) my favorite Ina Garten mac and cheese yesterday; H and I will eat the leftovers tomorrow and THEN the diet starts. we are alone tonight, missing our girls who are both out of town. probably an early night.

khsstitches - there is some saying about “no good deed goes unpunished”. so sorry you are being “punished” with another cold. is H recovered enough to wait on you?

happy new year to all my CC friends! I wish you and your loved ones a safe, healthy and happy 2010!

Happy New Year to my CC friends!

Husband had a big day today in trying to get some business deals sealed up before the end of the year. He is exhausted and since he was up since about 3am (if not before) he is sound asleep. We gave permission for both kids to be out but D has basketball practice at 10am. Can you believe it? Anyway… have a wonderful new year CCers and thanks for all your kind words, virtual hugs and just plain good humor this past year. (and a thank you in advance for when I end up being a whining baby over the next few months as I try to jump on Analyst’s weight loss bandwagon!
)

Just wanted to check in with you fine folks one last time for the decade (dramatic, ain’t I). Boy this place is such a nice comfortable place to be. I know I don’t post much, but I certainly like hanging out here. D is off babysitting (she seems to be feeling a little sorry for herself, but I’m happy to see her able to earn a couple of bucks). H is keen on going into town to participate in the town festivities (fireworks, bands and stuff). I’m hoping the big (and pretty darn good) meal I just fed him will lead to a nice nap on the couch so I can just stay in my comfortable sweats and out of the crowds. Anyhoo, Happy New Years to you all. Give your kids an extra hug while you can.

Not yet midnight on the west coast, but we’re pooped. Dad is back in the ER, though it doesn’t seem serious; just some issue with his PICC line. Hoping and praying for smoother sailing for him this year, and for all of us!

Happy New Year to all!

Happy New Year to all of my support at CC Parents Forum. Gosh, this last calendar year has been somthing else. I have many hopes and good wishes for all.
Had a last minute plan with friends and did it the Spanish way…had 12 red grapes and one grape had to be eaten per second the first 12 seconds after 12:00…and I did IT and just kow 2010 is going to bring good things to all.

Good Morning and Happy New Year to all!

Happy New Year everyone :)

Good morning. Happy 2010. We may start to take down the trees today, after the Rose Parade. I’ll miss them. I love my Christmas decorations. Hope I don’t become a Crazy Christmas Lady when I’m old (who keeps the decorations up year round.)

Happy 2010 to all! We all had a rousing New Year’s eve celebration of eating lots of the left-over holiday food (Good! Now it’s gone so I can start the year right with my healthy eating resolution.) and watching “Night in the Museum 2.” Since we moved right after D graduated from HS, she really doesn’t have any friends in this area. S does, but many are a year behind him, and on the HS swim team, which is in FL on a training trip.

This morning D and I are off to the mall for our free mini facials at Origins. H & S get to try to put our mailbox back together after the snowplow decimated it yesterday. Honestly, we never had this problem in Fairfield County, but up here it happens at least once a winter. The plows come screaming down the street. Gr-r-r-r! More snow in the forecast for the next couple of days.

My brother gave both our D’s a box of stuff from Origins and in there was a coupon for a free mini facial. Older D is so jaded her opinion was they’d do half her face and want her to pay for everything on the other side. Let me know how it goes Blinker cuz she left the coupon behind.

I watched Julie and Julia on pay per view. Truly an inspiring movie to start doing things and setting some goals. My list is long.

Happy New Year!

I always take the trees (I only have 2) down on New Years and never miss the Rose Parade.
No “Making of the Rose Parade” on HGTV this year. I’m bummed. I’ll miss the pre show".

Happy New Year all.

Late night and I’m SLOWLY getting started. I’m too old to get in a 2AM
My oldest was already asleep when we came in.

Diet starts today for me. Other than being tired I think I can do this.

Inever tried the origins is it good? happy new year to everyone. Hope the economy imorives and the clients pay, tthe kids figure out their academics and we all get healthy !
next year you will be posting you rpositive weight losses and sucessful sophmore years

theorymom, you have mentioned that your son has AP credit for Calc I & II. If he were to take Calc II, he will forfeit the AP credit for it. Just FYI. It may still be the right thing to do, given the reputed difficultly of Calc III.
