To find out about AP credit, you can search any college on the CB website and then click onto the AP policy link for information. This makes it very easy. Oh, and our state flagship, Rutgers, also requires 4 or 5.

D hasn’t received an abundance of mail from WUSTL - some, but more from some other schools.

Today’s batch of mail is a bit smaller than yesterday’s - Columbia, Caltech, Macalester, and Colorado School of Mines? Not sure where that one came from…lol.

northeastmom - thanks for the info about the APs at SUNYs. I had heard that was the case, but it’s good to have it confirmed.

Got responses to my queries at Stony Brook and Geneseo for any who are interested - Geneseo has an ED plan and has no plans to change that, and Stony Brook is still undecided about whether to continue on with their EA plan and will post their decision on their web site in July. Guess I’d better get back to work searching out some other good schools with EA or rolling admissions.

The UC system and the CSUs both give full credit for a “3”.

I have a new theory (which I just made up) - schools which are in the business of getting you through (e.g. most publicly funded ones) will give credit on a 3. Those that are in the business of extracting tuition will require a 4 or 5 or won’t give credit at all…

I agree with you scualum, you need to go into business making up theories I have seen a correlation between public vs. private and cutoff scores for credit/placement of 3+ vs 4+

S also got mail from Columbia today, and a post card about summer program yesterday.
This is the only school that he is interested in so far. I guess he is starting with the reach schools first.
BTW parents for the kids going to over-nights visits, don’t forget to remind them to speak to as many students as they can.
D went last spring to U Chicago to admitted students week-end. Her host disappeared for long periods of time. She was stuck with the host’s friend. The friend talked badly about the school.
D was somewhat disappointed (that was her # 2 school).
I told her she should have talked to other kids on campus.

We’ve also had the mail avalanche. It’s interesting to me how few Texas colleges we’ve heard from; Baylor, SMU, Texas A & M College Station honor program and our local community college. That’s it. Perhaps my son’s deep desire to trade in the Lone Star state for New England came through in his PSAT answers? Lol.

I wonder why ds never gets anything from Baylor …

OK, so we meet with the GC tomorrow. What would you ask? On our list right now is:

1) Is our definition of reach/match/safety sound?
2) If so, what are some other matches to look at?
3) What do you know about Questbridge? (We had two winners this year)

Sigh. Looks like another round with the drive test gods at DMV. It’s a bit too sensitive to talk to S about presently, something about backing into the curb. First time he’s ever failed a test at anything. One hopes the DMV testers aren’t, well, testy with the enforced furlough equating to a 10% pay cut.

First pass with HS admins and they are digging in their heels and said district gave them little options but to ax four AP classes. Meanwhile, the legislature has STILL not passed a budget and the Senate GOP threw out their leader and replaced with a more hard line, no taxes, no how guy.

Hmm, can I just do a Rip Van Winkle for a few months here? Ouch.

Sorry about that, FAP. S is scheduled to take his driver’s test on March 7. He’s already convinced he’s going to fail, and he’s actually a quite good, careful driver. But his parallel parking needs a lot of work!
