Just to complicate our summer plans, I’m wondering if we should be strategic in the order of summer visits so that D has a couple of interviews under her belt before going to her favorite schools. But then I worry that we won’t get around to the favorites. I have to sit down with the calendar…

FAP, I think it’s the green that is self inflicted.
We don’t plan to visit any schools in the summer. S is going to split his summer between a robotics program and an internship.
He is going to do interviews in the fall, at a couple of schools that he likes. I am hoping that everything is done by October.

I’m really happy that APUSH is today, and we will get our daughter back! She’s been working so hard all year-- which is good because our power went out last night and she had to do her last-minute cramming with a flashlight (fortunately we have the kind you wear on your head.) Just like Abraham Lincoln.

Abe would have been proud of her. LOL! But I’m worried about all the evacuations in the burning Santa Barbara area. Those kids may be studying by head lamp for days.

We get our S back after next Wednesday (AP English Language.)

I am a bad mother. D had 2 quizzes and a test today but her father and I dragged her out to see the new Star Trek movie last night. I also gave her a note so she could be late to school this morning because she was too tired to get up.

FAP, love the turkey!

Best of luck to all our test takers today!

LOL QM! was it good? I’ve heard it got good reviews, I am not a big trekkie but I did enjoy watching TOS on reruns during college.

D got home a while ago, said the test was good. Thought she did well on 2 of the essays and BSed on the third. Thought she did ok on the MC. Silly girl started looking at Latin essay prompts when I mentioned I had seen them on AP Central, when she should be getting ready for the prom!

I just ran out to get the boutonni

LOL Queen’s Mom, we always watch the Star Trek movies, but we’ll wait till mathson gets home before seeing the new one. So did you like it? Our paper gave it a surprisingly good review - but they gave Watchmen a “D” and I thought that was a fine movie and better than book.

gah! called the flower shop and they forgot the pin. I’ll probably go get it while D is at the hair salon. Lots of work I will be getting done today. AT LEAST THE TEST IS OVER.

I enjoyed it. The actors did a really good job of copying the mannerisms of the original characters (particularly McCoy). I am not a super trekie, but I distinctly remember cutting school (along with the majority of my class) when Wrath of Khan came out.

D16 thought it was really good and D10 just loved it and vowed to see all the original Star Trek episodes.

Jackief - Congrats to your D. I’ll have to assume my D is done as well, though I haven’t heard from her. Glad your D was optimistic about the exam. :)

I was going to tell you that you need a pin, but I see you figured that out - sorry you have a little extra running around to do today.

I was only kidding about the pics as I wouldn’t post my own D’s pic on the CC Facebook account. Not that I wouldn’t love to see everyone’s pictures, but since I wouldn’t post my own D’s pics, I can’t expect others to post their kids’ pics either. But if you’re so inclined, I really would love to see them. :)

QM - hope you liked the movie? I heard “Mr. Moviephone” give it a great review this morning.

Dh would be so jealous. He and the boys are debating going either Saturday or Sunday. Tonight is out because ds2 has a sleepover already scheduled.

Star Trek: Collegeson went to the midnight showing last night! He was done with exams yesterday so that worked out well. HS son wants to see it this weekend. With 2 APs out of the way and the 2 upcoming not to be worried about, that’s fine with me.

DD is in the middle of APUSH test right now here in CA. She actually got to bed last night by 11 pm as she decided she had done all the review she possbily could do and that it was better to get a good night’s sleep. She seemed optimistic when she let this morning. She did the US Histrory SAT II last weekend and felt good about how she did on that one.

DH told her to “break a leg” when she left this morning. Her reply to Dad was that you can tell me good luck as I am not in a performance. DH said that he knows what a superstitious theatre kid she is and he didn’t want to jinx her!

Just got an email from a friend. Randy Pausch (Last Lecture, Carnegie Mellon etc??) has a spot in the Star Trek movie. Small spot, with a line. IIRC that was one of his childhood dreams …

What does IIRC mean? I knew at one time but forgot. Aging is a … you know.

Oh, cnp55, how cool is that!!!

IIRC = If I Recall Correctly …

Definitely a “recall” problem. Thanks!

cnp, you should have said “IIRC, it means if I recall correctly”.
