I spoke to a junior mom today, and her ds hasn’t even begun to test. I asked her if she knew where he was applying and whether he’d need subject tests, and she said she’s trying not to think about it all. I was stressed on her behalf. Of course, she’s got four kids, the youngest of whom will be entering kindergarten next year, so she’s got plenty on her mind.

A tidbit of “strategy” from my college counselor: if you only take 2 SAT IIs and apply to Yale, you are telling Yale that you are NOT applying to Harvard, Princeton, or Georgetown (since Yale requires the entire score history). One way of expressing interest, perhaps?

What an interesting bit of trivia that could be useful to some.

K: Wow, that is interesting! Now if someone wanted to be sneaky they could apply SCEA to Yale with only 2 SAT-II’s, then take a third SAT-II in December or Jan. I don’t know if Yale would expect you to update your additional SATs after hitting the ‘send’ button on your application.

Going with my H, my Class of 2010 son, my Class of 2009 daughter to see D#2 graduate from St. Lawrence this Sunday. My parents & my D#1 are going as well.

No internet or TV at our rental house, they will make their own entertainment!
H has a Blackberry though!

have a great trip SLUMOM!

I had hoped my 12 comment would be hidden in here, but I’m glad for the validation. DB and I will need to have our side conversations and stay real :)

And YDS, I was thinking THE EXACT SAME THING about how the 09ers can keep it up when they have TWO threads going! Who would believe we were beating them at one stage!

jackief - Are you and I the only '10s who also have '12s? I thought there was at least one more.

Does anybody else have a kid taking the AP World exam this morning?

Son’s got that at 8:00 am then Track Regionals at 4:00 pm. It’s the qualifier meet for States. He’s a long shot (seeded 17 out of 21), but we can dream, right? Pole vault, btw.

I don’t remember any others DB, so if I am forgetting someone I am sorry! I didn’t go back and read through the other thread again.

Good luck to your S on WH and at the meet. My D has Latin tomorrow, it is good to have her exams spread out but it keeps the pressure on. She also needs to get to the library for her APUSH research paper and the only time she has when the library is open before some sources are due on Monday is tonight  At least I think she is very set for the exam and the class had a study session (with the teacher) at Dunkin Donuts before school today.

And congrats on sr member status! I expect to hit it before classes are out for the year!

SLUMOM, Congratulations to your daughter…and to you! Enjoy your trip.

S seems to have a case of post-AP testing flu. He went to bed three hours early last night and woke up this morning with a fever. Hopefully this will resolve itself.

I have a daughter who is class of 2012 too. Somehow it all seems easier the second time around, so I haven’t been frequenting that thread.
Good luck to your son on pole vault, DB.

Keilexandra,
What an interesting concept about Yale and SAT 2’s. I could see my DS#2 applying to Yale, but not the “3 SAT schools,” except he’s already taken 3 and plans on a 4th! Too bad for him that Yale isn’t abiding by score choice.

Dougbetsy - My D is also taking AP World right now. It is a great course but if the teacher does not teach the curriculum, the exam can be a bit challenging. I am hoping for the best for her.

It’s here! Tounge in cheek or not, scary!

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/parents-forum/714444-hs-class-2016-parents.html

I’m going to start a thread for my future grandchildren. Apparently I was negligent by having not started one for my class of '13 son.

A spoof thread for the HS class of 2030 could be a lot of fun…

OMG, seeing that class of '16 thread link, even if it was a goof, gave me a start!

Less than three months after D1(HS ‘07)started college, D2 was already taking her first PSAT, and hitting the college fairs, so we’ve been in continual college admissions mode pretty much since 2005. Much as I’ve enjoyed both of my older daughters’ college admissions journeys, it will be kind of nice to take a break from it for a year or two. Maybe it’s because she’s my youngest, but since D3 is still in middle school, it’s hard for me of think of her as one of the “Class of '15” just yet. ;)

SLUMOM–Congratulations on your D’s graduation and have a good trip!

DougBetsy–Good luck to your son!

Yesterday, D wrapped up her AP’s with Eng. Language. She’s feeling good about that and the Psych. exam from Tues. Two other exams today and then on to SAT I review.

to post here ?- I am (only) a Grandmother???
My GS (grandson) is a 2010 grad…
I am having so much fun following this thread (in fact the entire CC board)… obsessing with my DD (Dear Daughter).

FYI - GS is finished with AP’s (Hooray!) and starts summer job (only on weekends 'til school is out).

Looking forward hearing all about his Questbridge conference at Yale the end of June - and summer visits to (possible) college choices.

Keilexandra - Thanks for posting that interesting info. Re: Yale
I know it’s on ‘our’ list! GS has only taken (2) SATll’s so far, but will need a Science for application to MIT??

Thanks for letting me ‘barge’ in…

Bubbe! welcome, we are happy to have you!

Bubbe: Wow! Welcome, of course, grannies are most welcome here!
