Parents of the HS class of 2010 - Original

YDS- D thought the MC was only ok, bunch of stuff she didn’t know, but she aced one of the translations and thinks she did well on the rest of the short answers.

Good luck on the subj test IloveLA’s D. YDS is your son decided if he will take it? D took it in December.

My S will be taking US History and Physics subject tests in June. He took Math 2 last June. If he decides he wants to apply to the integrated science program at Northwestern, he’ll need to take the Chemistry test at some point but that’s up to him. (He’s not taking this June since he won’t be in AP Chem until the fall.)

Ds predicts physics and Latin will be his two worst scores, but he thinks he passed all his tests. Seems more confident about May’s physics subject test than the physics AP exam.

jackie, he won’t be taking the Latin subject test as it wasn’t offered in May, and that sitting was for his last two STs. In June, he’ll take his final SAT – we hope!

Tonight, we had celebratory cake and ice cream, played soccer volley out front and now he’s playing video games with his brother. Ah, to be a kid done with AP exams!

YDS:

Thanks for the clue in on the physics subject test.

Ay yes, being done with APs has taken the stress lines off my S’s face. He’s taken a peek at the final linear algebra exam he’ll start this weekend and didn’t frown and grouse so it’s probably a good sign!

here is a happy post and a way to inflate our count (not that I would ever want that to happen) it is my birthday today! Something about college… hmm… I’ll have to get back to you on that.

Happy Birthday, jackie! Hope you have a great day. :)

Many happy returns of the day, jackie!

Cumpleanos feliz, jackie!

I’m bummed because it’s raining (which we need!) and ds2’s games got cancelled again. Between the swine flu and the weather, this is the shortest season ever.

So here I sit watching “Fever Pitch” on TV. Hope it’s good.

Fever pitch is awesome!!! (says the life long Red Sox fan)

Happy Birthday JackieF!!!

Today is also my DS’s 19th birthday so you have a west coast birthday buddy :)

Loved Fever Pitch - and I am not a Red Sox fan (but am a life long baseball fan)…

jackie, I knew I liked you. I love baseball.

And, yeah, it’s good so far. My 14yo opted for Shakespeare in Love on the other TV. Who knew?

Oh, we have been missing the key to upping our post count – baseball!!

It is my birthday too Jackie (as you can probably tell from my username). So Happy Birthday to you!

happy birthday scualum’s S (the one who plays baseball, right?) Sorry for YDS’s 14yo’s poor choice of movie, that one is a S too, I’m not so sure about him!!

I did think of something college related, here are some quotes from a movie I asked for for my birthday:

“Looks like University of Illinois!!”

“Princeton could use a boy like Joel”

Happy Birthday Miss Emily!! When I bought and registered my first car, the woman working at the registry was actually very nice, and looked through the pile of plates for one which had a connection. My first license plate was XXX 516 (the Xs were letters, I don’t remember what they were)

Happy Birthday Jackie, Miss Emily, & sculum’s DS - Hope your day is bright & happy!

My (latest) good news is GS called to tell me he got a ‘Book Award’ from Geo. Wash University…not a very big deal after reading about all your amazing kids & their achievements - but nice to know GS is recognized at his HS.

He also just returned from blood test (requested by him) because he feels so ‘tired’ all the time. Hope it’s just a sudden ‘let down’ after finishing the AP’s. (He is still off and running with the 'end of term stuff, summer job starting etc.)

and…he’s already picked and asked (2) teachers for his college recommendation letters…

Our weather here is wonderful - I’m off to the pool for a swim (lucky me!)

Oh Baseball could definitely drive up my participation  I am on another baseball board and have over a thousand posts over there…

Any one else breathing a huge sigh of relief that the last two weeks are over? Between AP and CA State testing it was a very long week in our house…

3 in a row is allowed when it is your birthday. I know those quotes are probably very easy, but someone needs to name the movie.

My D asked for a Red Sox jacket like the one Drew Barrymore wears in Fever Pitch, but they don’t make that style anymore. The similar jacket is now red.

It is my 14yo freshman D2 who is the bigger sports and baseball fan than D1.

If anyone visits Cornell, Colgate, Hamilton, SUNY Binghamton you are not too far from the baseball hall of fame.

Williams and Amherst just had a reenactment of the oldest college baseball game. They played with old rules. They don’t do it annually, I think it was the third reenactment in recent years. There is also an associated chess game and they played a modern game also.

See, I could go on and on, this is a good topic! I am heading out soon, no not for a birthday celebration but to watch D’s probably final race of the season (probably won’t qualify for next week, which is what I hope as it is Memorial day weekend)

congrats on the book award Bubbe’s GS, it is a great accomplishment! It will take me a while to mentally parse GS, it means Girl Scout to me!
