3 part. I know that standards are different for athletes (which I still don’t find fair, but it is what it is). She is not trying to get into Harvard, but just don’t know what other student athletes got that were acceptable to colleges.

Thing is, if she would have even cracked a book open and tried to study, I think she would have done a lot better.

OCmom, welcome! I guess it would depend on how much the school wants your kid and what the overall ranges are at that school. If one school said that she was in range, she probably is. Of course stronger is better. You might want to check out the athletic recruits area, you might get more direct experiences, I am just throwing out my own random ideas…

Nice, didn’t see an area for Athletic Recruits. (Still trying to find it) :o)

Appreciate the input!!!

Add my name to those who are frustrated by the college board.

S’s account has not worked for several months. It won’t let me add or change score recipients, or even register him for a test. Whenever I need to do anything concerning his SATs, I have to call CB and speak to a rep. They take care of what we need to have done, but it’s always a hassle. Every time I call, I explain that his account doesn’t work, and sometimes they say “oh, gee, that’s strange”, sometimes they say “sorry, we have been having some problems with the website and accounts, etc etc”.

Very frustrating.

S took 3 SAT IIs on May 2. Before he even drove home he called me saying he wanted to retake (NOT cancel) math II and USH. He thought he did pretty well on chemistry and didn’t need to retake that one. That day I tried to register him for the two tests, found his account still out of whack, and called CB to register him for June 6. I did not say I wanted to cancel any of his scores, just that he wanted to retake 2, and that I wanted to register him for the June tests.

So this morning he has no scores, and his account on CB does not even list a May testing. I callled CB AGAIN and they say it looks like the tests were cancelled before he even took them! <breathe… breathe…=“”></breathe…>

The woman I spoke with this morning said that the previous rep could not have misunderstood me and cancelled his May scores, because to cancel scores they need a signed paper faxed to them requesting any cancellations. I was told “upper management” would be notified, that they would look into the problem, and get back to me in 5-7 days.

Has anyone else had this kind of problems with CB? Please tell me we are not the only ones. If S’s three scores have vanished into the ether I may have a melt down right here. Thanks for letting me vent.

Oh, BengalMom, that’s awful. I don’t have any advice, but I’ll send good vibes. Keep us posted.

Bengal mom, I’m sure you’ve considered every possible angle, but is it possible your son has a duplicate account, with slightly different information (such as middle name, or social security # on one but not the other?).

How awful. The only problem I’ve had is that when I registered ds online for the January SAT at first we didn’t send it to any schools. But it said we had days to add schools. I did within 24 hours, but scores were never sent.

momof3sons, you are the best!!! Thank you!!! BengalMom you have the patience of a SAINT!!! I would have lost my mind!

Bengalmom, How frustrating! Hang in there and hopefully this will all be resolved well and quickly.

Part of the reason I love this thread is because we can shamelessly brag and we can also vent about our kiddos in a safe space.

So, bring on the bragging and all the rest!

It’s fun to read the brags AND solutions to vexing problems. Here’s crossing fingers that BengalMom can be writing a post on this soon.

Thanks for the encouraging thoughts everyone. I just wish I didn’t have to wait a week to try to get this hammered out. I suppose if worse comes to worst, S could add on chemistry and take all three again. But he would NOT be happy about that, and neither would I. Getting him to study all over again would not be pretty. He is already suffering from “junior-itis” since the APs are over, and many of his classes are watching movies.

BengalMom: My sympathies. My guess is that the telephone rep thought you were changing your son’s registration date from May to June. IIRC, when I had called CB to change my D’s registration date, they told me I could wait until 48 hrs AFTER the exam to make that change. Sounds like the call you made was within the 48 hr window. I was not required to send in a signed request for making that change. They just asked me a bunch of questions to verify identity and then it was done. I guess, the rules are a bit more stringent for canceling scores than they are to simply change registration dates. Since you were not asked to fax in a signed form, I think this is most likely what happened. Perhaps if you explain this to them, they might be able to figure it out, and find your son’s answer sheet? Good luck!

OMG – that could be it, vp. I bet she misunderstood what I wanted. I will call them again. Thanks!!

BengalMom–Hopefully vp’s suggestion works out and that you’re able to sort the problem out–good luck!

Except that he had already taken the tests that morning… so it seems like that might be more like a cancellation… (?). I’ll call… perhaps after I calm myself a bit. Is it too early for a cocktail??

^^ Under these circumstances, it is not too early even in your State (UT)!

I really think it will/should work out. CB wouldn’t just trash his answer sheet.

A bit of good news…

I called CB again at vicariousparent’s suggestion and talked to a more helpful rep who said that S’s test date HAD been changed to June (even though he had already taken the May tests, constituting a cancellation in my mind). He also told me that we will eventually be able to get S’s May scores because they do not destroy the score sheets.
I still need to wait to speak to management in a week or so, but they should be able to tell me when we will be able to get S’s scores. Hurray!

LOL, vp. Actually, it is too early here. It 's not legal to serve until noon (except beer at 10am) Makes the term “champagne brunch” non existent here., which was a shock to me the first Mother’s Day I spent here!
