<p>I’ve had molars and one wisdom tooth removed. It felt achy after the novacaine wore off, but not unbearably so. My youngest (the senior) has impacted wisdom teeth and we have to decide when to schedule removal. I’m thinking after graduation.</p>
<p>Best of luck to everyone dealing with bad weather! Here in NYC it’s just a pleasant, smallish snowfall, not more than 3-4 inches.</p>
<p>I’m very excited for the Olympics! It’s pretty much the only athletic event I follow regularly. Oh, and about knowing Olympians - a girl from my school went to the Beijing ones, and that was very cool :)</p>

<p>momof3sons, that’s interesting about the calf sleeves, we’ll ask about that. I had AT myself year before last, and it took quite awhile to get over it. The physical therapist made me rest totally for awhile, and when he let me run again, it was for very short runs. That’s hard for kids to do!</p>

<p>Sorry for the short post - I feel like I am missing so many things. But I’m on a computer in the business center at the hotel and I am sure my credit card is being sucked dry as I type. Just wanted to check in and also say THANK YOU for all the well wishes. We made it to LA and D is in the first of her 7 auditions. So far travel has been fine, but a flight attendant did pour hot (warm really) tea down her back on the flight to LA this morning. She was fine but she was wearing her audition outfit since we didn’t know if she would have time to change. Every flight attendant on the plane came by with Tide pens, Shout wipes, seltzer, etc. to help get her cleaned up. They were so nice. </p>
<p>Hope to have more time at the hotel we are staying at tonight to get on and really get caught up. Thanks to all for the recaps!</p>

<p>My oral surgeon actually called us today, which was cool. I’m still not in any pain. There’s some mild discomfort when I eat, and I’m slightly achey because I just ate boneless hot wings (but I’m not really complaining, I expected it; I just need some solid food before I keel over). I’m glad to hear that others have had painless recoveries. I’m pumping the advil every few hours per the instructions, but I’m really quite fine.</p>
<p>minimom- thumbs up on the erg rodeo. Some of our kids go to the CrashBs in Boston, but my D has not been interested. Erg-ing is not her most favorite thing.</p>

<p>Yes we did shop for home improvement stuff, but it was good. I’m making some curtains for the kitchen and we were shopping for decorative rods and finials. I bit of a challenge as it is one big triple window and one single which has contraints to its sides. So finding something of appropriate scale for both was hard, but we have picked out what we want, now to get the details set and finish the curtains.</p>
<p>We were going to see Avatar in IMAX 3D but as we drove the the theater we saw something was wrong, a transformer was out! So no power in the area and we are back at home now 
We might try the later showing or if not wait till next weekend when the kids will be annoyed at us since we have two tickets, but since they are doing a bunch of fun stuff this weekend without us, I don’t think they can justifiably complain…</p>

<p>PS “Power Ten!” is a command given by the coxswain on a 4 or, more typically, an 8 man shell. It means for the next ten strokes called by the cox, the rowers are asked to dig deep and provide extra power for those ten strokes. It is typically a strategic call to make a move on another boat(s) in the field. The rowers are always to look straight ahead, to keep the boat on keel as much as possible. So, if during the power ten, the boat moves up a seat(s) on the other boat, the cox will call out that progress at the end of the ten (and at other times during the race.)</p>

Tomorrow he’s throwing a Super Bowl party at a friend’s house (it was at our house last year), and I’ve baked and bought all kinds of junk because I keep thinking, “He won’t be here for Super Bowl next year. <p>Well, good thing I mentioned it! I was on Facebook this AM when I heard on the radio of mud flows in a neighborhood of LA where a somewhat distant friend (who travels frequently) lives. I gathered from her last FB post that she was still on the east coast, so I sent her a private message about what I heard. She was quite appreciative of the heads up, had a neighbor check her property and all is well. Only two people had property damage but there are work crews out cleaning the mud flow off the street so people can get in and out.</p>
<p>Yes, we’re cutting S more slack on his comings and goings … however, still trying to teach him that some basic communication on same is just common sense that close adults do with one another. And now I can use the above example, too! :)</p>

<p>Firsttimemom, my heart goes out to you and austinmt! It is hard enough doing audtions without someone throwing a wrench in the works. Firsttime, I hope the reschedule goes well your next flight is on time with lovely weather! Austinmt, a wardrobe malfunction (of any kind) is one of my many nightmares! I told my D to pack two outfits just in case, but having time to change is a real issue, also. I hope she sang (played?) beautifully and is pleased with the audition.</p>
<p>We are having issues with my D’s audition at Rice. We have 30 inches of snow on average around the house. The flight to houston was canceled. We have contacted the teacher and await a reply. The earliest flight to houston gets her in 5 hours after the audition. There is no make-up weekend on the schedule. Sigh… She is trying not to panic. My H has rescheduled the flights, hotels and rental cars in case she can be seen the next day. We are a bundle of nerves here.</p>
<p>Can I just say that I hate snow and winter and ice and snow and cold weather and snow!</p>
<p>S2 had to rescue the dog from the snow when she had to go out. She is not a small dog either. She’s a Lab/shepherd mix. She got stuck in a drift and starting barking, whining and crying for someone to come get her. She tried very hard to get out, but just couldn’t get over the top to break free. I think she panicked a bit. S2 just picked her up and brought her in, then shoveled a path for her to get to the trampoline under which she can do her business. The trampoline needed to be shoveled as well. Tomorrow we will shovel the driveway, but who knows how long it will take to get the plow here.</p>

<p>ROFLOL! I’m sorry, I shouldn’t laugh at you folks in the freezer zone, but the visual of the dog doing her duty under the trampoline was just too much. I have a short legged Corgi and would have to dig a tunnel. Our SoCal Labradoodle was briefly spooked when H opened the umbrella for his walk with them last nght. She had never seen it before and she’s now two.</p>
<p>For all the parents with auditioning kids who are hung out to dry with the weather wreaking havoc with schedules, my heart goes out to you. Surely the colleges have dealt with this before and will reschedule auditions. They can’t be heartless, can they?</p>
