Parents of the HS Class of 2011 - We're awesome!

Thanks emilybee: duly noted, Sallys is the place to be. :)

EAO:that is hilarious that you can buy only the marshmallows from Lucky Charms cereal, and at an Amish store?! That somehow seems especially contrary to the Amish way of life!

Also, thanks 2education, I love the energy you inject into this board on a daily basis :)

MOB - what a story. You are much braver than I ever could have been.

2edu - you are so sweet to remember we are taking Bluejrjr to the observatory tonight. I’m afraid with the …yes, Winter Storm Warning… We won’t see much… But this is a special night they do every six months, he’s bringing a sweet neighbor girl (big deal for this shy 16yo) so we’ll go anyway. I offered to take Bluejr and friends to dinner if he had time while we are there but said he was certainly tired of family time. Evidentially not enough to turn down a free meal. His new gf has been invited so this should be a fun, eclectic, dinner. Again, an hour we can see him and not interfere in his life too much. I never forget how lucky we are to have these opportunities.

Funny, looked at the forecast for home and we have tiny white flakes for tomorrow. What does that mean? :wink: bad forecast probably. I’m honestly thinking of my ipeeps dealing with early snow right now. It is unwelcome. I hope you are all warm, safe, with family, and well stocked. {{{warm hugs}}}

Coffee’s on everyone. Help yourself. It’s nippy outside.

Good morning all,

Coffee is ready…and TGIF

EAO~Urgh!!The MIT news is so very sad.It reminds me how very fragile our students still are.
Marshmallows out of lucky charms sounds just like S2 :)

MOB~What a story!! delay is the key idea here

Bi~Sorry about the forecast but have fun anyway…the bookstore is having the big opening ;)

Safe travels to all coming to visit their kids students in the East. It is nippy here today.

Cheers

Hi Everybody,
It has been a while since I posted. S went to WCUPA, couldn’t wait to leave, packed early, then CALLED ME AFTER A WEEK AND SAID HE WANTED TO COME HOME! Well, the homesickness seems to have dissipated… I think he’s having TOO MUCH fun! Has anyone else’s kid out there developed a sudden taste for beer? :frowning: He is drivingme nut! The less I know, the better off I am, I think.

[At the Metropolitan Museum, a New Wing, a New Vista - Interactive Feature - NYTimes.com](<a href=“Interactive Guide to Islamic Art Galleries at Met - Interactive Feature - NYTimes.com”>Interactive Guide to Islamic Art Galleries at Met - Interactive Feature - NYTimes.com) For those near NYC, the MMA is opening its new Islamic wing on Tuesday. It took them eight years to create. It looks fantastic. I really miss NY.

Question, I just posted some pictures from Parents Weekend on SF and I clicked the add to existing album but every time I do that it creates a new album. What am I doing wrong?

I have the same problem EB. I figured it out once, but darned if I can do it again.

I always add my pics to the original album. Hummm… I go into the cc shutterfly site first, click into Bluejr’s album, and on the top right there is a link to ‘add pictures’. I just make sure everything from there is within that album when it is uploading, not creating a new album.

NOTE: I think when you are uploading images the default is to create a new album with the current date. You can change that at upload to a previous album. The drawback is that we don’t know new pictures are posted unless someone tells us or looks into your album… I just keep it in one place. BTW, love the new pix EB!! :)

Thanks BI! I definitely chose add to existing album which is why the date on it is from last April. I can add to existing albums with no problem on FB, Snapfish so it can’t be that I’m completely daft!

Good morning, all! Thanks for the coffee.

Safe travels to everyone visiting kids this weekend. The weather on the east coast looks miserable.

Doris: I’m sorry that your son is driving you nuts!

BI: It’s great that you get to see Bluejr so often. We’ve had a similar experience with D1 and it’s been great. It’s nice when they are far enough away for a new experience, but close enough that you see them pretty often.

eb, No, def not daft! Did you start from inside the existing album? That’s odd, really.

momjr, yes, though our quick visits will be over soon once football and other things slow down. We have enjoyed it though! Also, S3’s EC will go into competitions soon.

down arrow…now I’m daft! That would make sense eb! Very strange!

^ I think I did because how else could the date be 4/11 on it?

**26 days to Thanksgiving break **

November is here next week!

(Based on kids touching down at home on the Wednesday before TG. Some kids may get the full week and will land at home sooner.)

Even though we’ve been fortunate to see S1 every weekend this fall at tailgates after games, and for dinner out … he showed the first signs of being home sick last weekend. He said he misses the dogs and just being able to lay on the couch.

This week his team has an overnight at Middlebury, and he said he can’t wait to sleep in the hotel’s bed (ick!), because at least he doesn’t fear rolling out, like he does in his lofted dorm room bed. I have a feeling he’s going to sleep-away half of his Thanksgiving break, once we can get him home!

LOL Mary!

Ok, I’m going try to add one picture to the latest album. If it creates another one my apologies in advance.

Morning all! Just checked NOAA’s forecast and it jumped overnight from 2-3" to 6-8." They are usually not too off. Oh well, homecoming is tommorow night and the new head drum major is nominated. I do hope he wins, keep the tradition going (and make those student gov’t and football players think twice before putting down the bandies).

Ds got his philosophy paper back - A-!!! Hallelujah! Hoping things are starting to click.

Whoot-whoot for lucky picture #13 in your album emily! Whatever you did it appears to have worked! :)

A big CHEER to AmandaSon for the A- on the philosophy paper! !!! That is indeed something to celebrate! Cyber chocolate to go with this morning’s coffee! :)

Pepper - A local attorney may have some suggestions on working out jury duty issues - I am sure your college could recommend someone to talk to. Jury duty is so strange - neither my husband nor I have ever been called in any state in which we have lived, and we have always been registered voters and have had drivers’ licenses for over 35 years. I know plenty of attorneys who have been called, so that cannot be it (although I don’t know many who have been chosen - not sure attorneys want other attorneys looking over their shoulders!)

Bajamm - It never ceases to amaze me how often I learn something of immediate vital importance on CC. My daughter lives for mac-and-cheese, and I was on Amazon last night looking for some to send her. Who would have ever thought of exploding mac-and-cheese?

We saw the DD at a family wedding we attended in lieu of the parents’ weekend. She seems to be doing great - found a flexible job, is in a play, realized on her own that she couldn’t also do choir right now, gets along with her roommate, and seems to be keeping up with the workload. So far, so good on this front!

Working hard for a dressage show this weekend - hope this time I don’t forget my tests!

Well, not brilliant, but I am pleased with myself. D’s birthday is next week. She wanted a Vera Bradley blanket, which was bulky. I wondered how to ship that and other gifts without paying a fortune. I was able to cram the blanket, two scarves, gloves, and a couple other presents into a medium flat rate box.

Why do I feel pleased with myself? I wanted to wrap the gifts but didn’t want to use boxes that would take up too much space. At the party section of WalMart I bought a Disney princess plastic table cloth and Disney princess treat bags. I wrapped the blanket in part of the table cloth (used staples instead of tape) and put each other gift in its own treat bag, stapled each closed, added ribbon, etc. So each gift was wrapped, but crammable with wrapping that wouldn’t tear.
