Amazing how imaginative we are all getting!!
Great job missypie!

Well done, missy! And happy bâday to your D!

Great to hear about the good results on the philosophy paper, AK.

ShawWife has decided to drive to NY tomorrow or in a couple of days. An art consultant wanted four or five pieces and they typically have to pay to ship/insure her work. They offered to pay ShawWifeâs studio assistant, a lovely but starving young artist, to drive the work to NY to deliver the work. Then ShawWife said, âWhy donât I go with her? There is a show I want to see in NY.â OK. Theyâll probably take ShawWifeâs car, so now Iâm confused. I guess ShawWife wants an alternate driver. I gather that there is snow forecast, so Iâll alert her to the winter perils (though sheâs Canadian and is not fearful of snow).

ShawD said her math test was hard. In a way, having lots of tests early is bringing on the realization that she needs to up the work level (and get a tutor, which I tried to get her to do before the start of the term, but hey, 6 weeks in is better than not at all).

On the homesickness front, she doesnât appear to exhibit any such feelings. Sheâs got more friends and is planning a trip to Montreal for Halloween weekend. If there was a major in friend-making, sheâd be getting an A+.

Hey I posted some new pictures-of my roses after the snow! I really should get some graduation pictures up soon! :)

Shawâitâs not your wife driving in the snow that is the problem. Itâs all the other people who donât know how to drive in the snow! Also, they are predicting heavy, wet snow which they are predicting will cause lots of power outages. Just an FYI! She may want to wait a day.

Iâm glad DS is coming home tomorrow on the train! It will not be a good day to be on the road. Luckily he can take the train and metro to within 5 minutes of our house! Heâs definitely ready to come home! They have a home football game tomorrow and I asked if he wanted to stay and play with the bad at the game. He said âno, I want to come homeâ. I think heâs ready to chill on the couch and catch up on his tv shows and sleep.

Hope everyone stays warm this weekend. Lets hope the power stays on and the snow leaves quickly!

Iâm watching game 7 of the World Series tonight. Iâm rooting for the Rangers. I sure hope they can pull it out. Last nightâs game was painful!

Great idea missypie!

Is there some sort of initiation or hazing you have to go through to be invited to view/submit photos to the shutterfly site?

Just PM 2education. Sheâll set you up!

That was too quick emmybet! I was thinking what kind of internet hazing we could do!

I still (obviously) donât have the hang of the shutterfly site. I tried to put all my pictures in one place but it didnât work. I may ask my techy son when he comes home at Thanksgiving but I donât always like him to know how inept I am.

Good job missypie! I hate paying big bucks to ship something that isnât terribly expensive.

Tonight was trick or treat here and we had the lowest turn out ever.
Our neighborhood is aging and some of the middle school age kids go to the newer neighborhoods with houses closer together. Iâm going to take the bulk of the candy to work so I donât gain a full five pounds from this. One thing was funny - I always have packs of pretzels and raisins along with the candy and it was interesting to see the real little children choose that over the candy bars. A couple of them even said, âoooh, pretzels!â (More almond joys and paydays for me!)

Sorry - I guess I donât have a devious enough imagination! Lucky for you, Lefty.

Kathie, you arenât inept, itâs that site. We canât all be challenged!

Why was trick or treat tonight?

We hardly ever got any kids until the new neighbors moved in and do over the top decorations complete with fog machine and music. Theyâve got coffins with headless bodies, gravestones, stuffed black cats - even a guillotine! When anyone needs to know which house is mine I only have to say I live next door to Halloween House and they know what I mean.

Their newest addition this year are orange lights on every tree and bush.

I have to buy like 5 bags of candy now. Sigh.

Iâll have to take a picture tomorrow morning before it all get buried under the snow and Iâll post in on SF.

Mamom â so sorry to hear about your troubles; you have had more than your share and I hope that changes soon!

MomofBoston â yikes! Your jury trial makes my one selection in a civil trial seem pretty tame.

Sorry to hear that some of your kiddos are having adjustment issues. DD had a few tough days at the beginning of the semester but she definitely found her âpeopleâ and has been pretty happy ever since. She isnât even coming home for Thanksgiving â she decided to spend that holiday at the home of one of her new friends instead. Iâm glad we were able to get her home a couple of times this semester because now we wonât see her until December 10th.

Bajamm â I had a similar experience with cookies â I included a plastic container of cookies in a care package and the top came offâŠâŠc ookie crumbs everywhere! I now tape all containers shut and put anything else inside of a plastic bag.

Count me in the group who feel it is TOO EARLY for snow! As a transplanted Texan, I donât really like the snow and ice we get in Ohio so Iâm never ready for it to begin.

Happy bday to your D, Missy! And AmandaK â congrats to your son on his paper! Itâs great when you get tangible evidence that they are doing well academically in their new environment and very affirming for the student also.

Our trick or treat is Sunday night. This will be our first year handing out as it is the first year all of our kids are to old to go trick or treating. H bought 4 bags of candy. I have no clue if that is enough. I might secretly buy more tomorrow so I make sure there is some for me to eat.

We may not be getting snow and the hurricane stalled and didnât arrive, but we are being hit by torrential rains. It started about five hours ago andr has not stopped. Major flooding and lots of street closing. Yuck!!

The only rule to shutterfly is you donât get to lurk thereâŠif you want to see pictures of us, you need to be ready to share your own.
Here lurkers are totally fine!!! (not that we write the rules on cc, but acknowledging the difference).

Coffee is on folks, help yourself. I have bagels, eggs, bacon, biscuits, and gravy. Itâs all virtual so all guilt free! Itâs cold out, a Saturday, many of us have our first taste of weekend winter weather so a hearty breakfast is in order!! :)

We went on instinct and went up the one way dirt road in the fog and rain last nightâŠkept going when we hit the snow, to the observatory. No we couldnât see anything.
So glad we did! The kids had a blast, the tour was excellent, and as you can imagine, it wasnât very crowded. I was so glad for the 4wheel drive on the way down the mountain though! Weâll try for tickets again, but donât regret the trek this time. We also had a lovely dinner with Bluejr and friends. Loved the gf. Quite spunky, sharp wit, easy smiles, very talkative and he seemed comfortable. Thatâs all I need to know really about a college gf.

Evidentially we are in for the messy kind of white stuff here today. Just a few inches. I am thinking of those that are dealing with so much more. I hope you and your families are warm, safe, and dry.

Thatâs fine, blue, Iâll be happy to post a picture, although I havenât been up to the school since move in dayâŠI have some very sad photos of D hugging her sister and crying. I wonât be posting the ones where I am crying⊠

My daughter is living with total slobs. The suite is always a mess, dishes always in the sink, my daughter, who was not the most neat one in my house, is like the Felix Unger of the suite, always complaining how embarrassing it is to have people over, always doing everyone elseâs dishes, just so she can get the water pitcher into the sink to fill it.

So, Friday, they had an inspection, they knew it was coming, and cleaned the livingroom and the kitchen, but her bedroom failed!
She said her side of the room was a little messy, it was a busy week, but her roommateâs side of the room was a total mess, so they failed. They have a few days to make it better or they will be fined. Sigh.

Anyone elseâs kids living with Oscar Madison types?

BI: I am glad you went and had fun at the observatory and that the dinner with the gf went well!

@ Lefty - Iâm sorry your DD is having difficulty with her roommates not cleaning. That is frustrating to say the very, very least. I havenât heard my son talk about inspectionsâŠis this common at most schools and Iâm just not hearing about it? His dorm isnât the neatest, but it falls within the norm I figure. Sheets get washed as do clothes. I think the floor has been vacuumed a few times⊠I hope your DD can find a workable norm with her RM and suite mates for the remainder of the year. This has to add stress. Does she have a better situation mapped out for next year, or is it too early at her school to think about this?

@ bajamm - Thanks. Life is about adventure, right?
The paperwork said rain or shineâŠno mention of snow, lol!

Our area always does trick or treat on the Friday before Halloween. I love that although newbies to the area always grumble. We lived in another area before this when our oldest children were small and it was so much trouble to do trick or treat on a school or church night. Fridays are perfect, unless you want to attend a HS football game, which is also Friday night.

Handing out virtual Almond Joys, snickers, payday and peanut M & Mâs. There was snow on our pumpkins this morning! We didnât even have a frost yet and the leaves are still on the trees. Very weird!

Lefty, Sorry about the messy roommates. That would be frustrating for a neatnik. My sonâs dorm has been fined overall for trash problems which ticks off my son, but itâs only a couple of bucks apiece which is not enough to change any habits.

Weâve heard that ShawDâs roommate has been making harsh/hurtful comments. ShawD of course did not tell us but she told her BFF from HS (with whom there was drama last year) in what appears to be a regular Skype conversation and BFF told her mother, who came over for dinner last night. ShawD apparently went to the RAâs or higher up to request a room change, but they persuaded her to try to work it out and apparently things have been somewhat better. We, of course, have not heard anything at all from ShawD, but I inferred from the fact that they werenât going to a party together on homecoming weekend that something was off. Ah well.

In some ways, it is great that she is a) trying to handle it herself; b) seeking out advice; and c) seeking out the proper resources within the school. I hate for her to be in a less than wonderful situation but it is good that she is choosing to/learning to handle things like this by herself as she transitions to adulthood.

ShawWife has decided to wait until Tuesday to drive to NY. So, if there is snow, it will have fallen.
