Yay to us for being so chatty!

At our house, S25 still hasn’t decided (We just got back from the Ethics Bowl national championship yesterday, so he didn’t have any more time to think about his decision for the past several days). I told him to take some time to himself this weekend to really think, pray, and meditate on his decision. We’ll see if he takes my advice on that. :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

But, in some exciting news today, S25 found out he was chosen for an online summer research program he is super excited about. It’s 10-12 hours a week, so just enough to keep busy but not so busy he can’t try and get a lot of work hours in too!

Just replying because I’m excited we have a Part 2!

And, LatteNights, congrats to your son! Wonderful news!

Replying as I occasionally check-in during slow work weeks like this last week.

I’ve noticed this is a chatty bunch!

After two calls and two emails, we FINALLY heard back from Emerson today with an email stating that S25’s financial aid should now be visible in the portal. But, guess what? THERE IS NOTHING IN THE PORTAL. :sob:

FINALLY heard from USNA. It was a turn down. Still waiting for USAFA and AF ROTC. But he is not interested in them and will be heading to USMMA on JULY 3rd!

We have cut from 6 to 3 so far this week. The primary issue remains….is choice #1 worth $15k/yr more than choice #2. C25 thinks probably not, but boy do we love it. Choice #3 remains on the list until Friday where they have to blow us away at the visit or be eliminated. Also got to meet a fellow CCer in person this week which was awesome!

Oh my gosh! I often think I might meet up with another CC on tour!

There had to have been some CCers at the admitted a
student days D25 attended. We should have a secret handshake or code word to identify each other. :detective:

Is this some kind of quantum physics experiment?

So sorry to hear about the USNA news, that’s not what anyone wants. Yet it sure sounds like your kiddo has a great option with — and is excited about — USMMA!!

Ugh, what a hassle with Emerson. I hope it isn’t taking away from any good stuph going on with your other visits, and that the schools you are seeing are offering some good “feels.”

I’m sorry about USNA. But USMMA is fantastic! Gosh they start early. I wouldn’t be ready for my child to go away that soon. :sob:

Read your post on your son’s commitment. Really excited for you guys! My daughter wanted to apply there but it was above our budget. Hope he will be happy and successful.

Realizing that our kiddo graduated from HS TEN years ago! How did this happen? I’m sure I’m not ten years older.

Congrats to your son, @AnonMomof2. USMMA is a great choice.

Commenting so I can easily find the new thread in the future (yes, I’m a boomer.)

I’m mostly a lurker and was gone the past 3+ weeks; it’s been interesting to come back & see where everyone has committed!

My c25 abruptly changed what they wanted, rendering most of their college list obsolete. In the end, they’ve chosen a financial dream school & seem happy with that decision (even though it’s not in the location they would prefer.) I’m proud of their maturity in playing the long game, focusing on a debt-free launch rather than chasing undergrad prestige. Though they’ve already told me for grad school they’re going big (choosing prestige > lower cost) since we won’t be touching our 529 for undergrad. Let’s hope in 4 years our 529 has bounced back from the current financial downturn & even grown.

That is fantastic. And so mature! What a great thing to witness in your child. And it sounds like a great set up for success.
