Parents of the HS Class of 2011 - We're awesome!

Ugh, MM, it’s unfortunate that your D has to deal with a clueless TA. If she hasn’t already done so, maybe calling disability services would be helpful as well. Does her school have a food takeout delivery service? Maybe she could order a steak from a restaurant and have it delivered. Bribing friends to do the grilling is good too :)

Someone on this forum asked me about tickets for Jon Stewart. I happened to look just now at his site and there are 20 tickets available for next Thursday, March 1. They will go fast!
Thanks Kathiep, I will keep that earmarked for later date! Wish I could go on the 1st but have to drive up the following week!
What an amazing day weather wise we are having here in Maryland! Come on spring!

^^That was me kathiep! I’m too far away, but will bookmark the site, thanks!!

Hugs to MM’s dd-It’s a tough time of year for some kids and adding in a physical issue can really throw them off track. :(

quiet bunch today – bumping us back up :)

I sent my S a package for Valentine’s day and he still hasn’t picked up his mail! I even told him (eventually) that there’s something waiting there for him.

TGIF
S1 in the UK lost his wallet this week. Walking 3 miles to work & no $$ to eat. I did manage to wire him $$ via western union but all the places he walked to last night to pick it up were closed although their hours were listed. Hopefully he’ll be more successful @ lunchtime today.

He has an actual washer in his flat. But no dryer as y’all pointed out not to expect. I guess he could wash some socks & underwear, maybe sweaters, but anything else will be all stiff.

S2 is still having a problem making it to class. I’m hoping this week will be 100%, but Fri isn’t over.

Idinct - not easy. Hugs to you.

Idinct, When my son did a study abroad in England he strung a clothes line all over his dorm room (a single) and because he is such a cheapskate, often washed his clothes by hand, wrung them out and let them dry in his room. He was very grateful to come back to the states with our energy wasting washer and dryers.

Warning: rant coming: every time someone in my family has to fly, weather stinks…holding my breath today with tornado watches on the east coast…

Rant over; carry on…

^ugh – sorry – hope for a safe journey. The weather was beautiful when the Knicks were winning. Coincidence? I think not.

Tornado watches on the East Coast? Guess I ought to turn on the TV! Safe travels Rodney family!

Unexpected 4" of heavy snow this am, well it is winter after all.

S1 picked up his $$$ so now he can eat & get a cab home from work. He is very happy.

S2 is awake & it is only 9:30.

I am already thinking giant margarita for this eve.

Idiocy, ask your son whether there is an airing cupboard in his flat. This is built around the hot water tank, with slatted shelves and if he puts his clothes from the wash there, they will dry much faster.

Daily Show tickets are now available for April 10, 11 and 12!
We’re having some dreary rain today. It’s been a very strange winter.

Typo samuck?

^probably the autocorrect function – it turns message into massage, etc. These machines should understand ldinct is spelled: ldinct

Thinking about giant margaritas at breakfast? Sounds like a vacation is needed. Preferably on a sunny tropical beach or the top deck of a cruise ship! Spring break is coming! I am counting the days!! :D

Just checking in to say hi. I read back just a few pages and MM, I’m so sorry you’re going through so much. I’m sending healthy wishes to you and both your daughters.

Kathiep, thanks for the link to the jon stewart show. I tried to get tickets for D1’s 21st birthday NYC trip a few weeks ago but no luck. Will definitely keep checking.

D3 is finishing up a week off from high school and we were able to go to Hawaii with her bf and family. Very relaxing and a little sad to be home. D2’s ankle injury has returned and, per drs orders, she has to stop practicing her sport for 4 weeks. Silver lining is that she’s able to come home for spring break in a few weeks when she’ll have an MRI, see the dr, etc. Her school is so rural that the closest orthopod she can see is something like 26 miles away…for a girl without a car in a town with no public transportation, it doesn’t make things easy. The kids can rent a zip car but I’m glad she can come home and go to a dr she has seen before (and who I know takes our insurance).

D2’s college has a parents’ board–I applied in the fall and just found out that I was accepted. Anyone else on this type of board? I’ll attend my first meeting in April.

I’ve been on the road so am catching up this morning. MM - I hope your family is having a better time, health-wise. Idinct - hang in there; I am so impressed by how you deal with your S1’s challenges. I would be a complete basket case.

Older DD had her interview weekend at grad school #1 last week. It was kind of up and down; she seemed to really click with some of the departments but she just couldn’t tell how others felt. She wil hear from that school by March 9th so at least it won’t be forever. This is interview weekend @ school #2 and then the last one is in two weeks. It’s going to be a tough few weeks for her, both emotionally and academically. Her school is on quarters so they are in the last couple of weeks of the quarter and she has tons of papers, tests to study for, etc. She’s hanging in there, just wants it to be over and to find out if/where she will be going to grad school.
