Parents of the HS Class of 2013

YOu can rent tuxedos at Mens Wearhouse…Zack’s total is $71.71 and he is going to look very handsome :)

Will have to drug mine there…asked him today to figure out what he would like to wear…

They give you lots of styles/colors to choose from so I’m sure he can find something! DS’s prom is the 20th…Graduation is on May 17!

Congratulations to all the recent decisions!

I am thrilled to say that my D made a decision today too!!! And she couldn’t be happier - she is over the top bubbling with joy and enthusiasm - it’s pure love!

She left here 3 days ago with full intention of enrolling in UChicago. Picked her up at the airport this afternoon and came straight home to submit enrollment and housing deposits to Washu. It’s done!!! I have never seen her this happy…

Also, she has decided to accept the scholarship to their 7-week summer biomed research program despite the fact that she will miss prom, senior luncheon, etc.

Guess I will be serving on the SS - but I will assume these duties on Monday if you don’t mind…

HAven’t posted in awhile. Congrats to all the scholarships and final decisions being made! My dd is at Scholars Day at USC (South Carolina) and I truly hope she comes home tomorrow wanting to enroll and being excited! We were helped out with beautiful weather so hoepfully all is good. She went with dh and I stayed home - it was very difficult to stay home!

Congrats to all making decisions. Especially to you Kennedy2010…I’m jealous. I have tried to gently nudge my D to WashU but she isn’t taking the bait and won’t be going there. I’ve been there several times…what an awesome place! Good for your D and family!

So much good news today! Congrats to Kennedy2010 on decision and summer program; to Kat on decision and tuition; to TerinZak on newest scholarship; and Kelowna, WOW, we are so happy for you! What terrific news! Haven’t seen you actually say he’s decided…we’ll be waiting to hear.

Hope those waiting (ahsmuoh and BigDogLover, others) get off their chairs soon. In the meantime, enjoy the sunset.

Thanks for the tuxedo reminder–we have to get on that. Dear Son going with Dear Friend. At least I think so. ;)

Congratulations, Kennedy! I’ll be taking S15 to visit WashU this summer. From what I’ve read, it sounds great!

You know him, he is not the fastest decision maker when he has time… But I have been finding out about the incredible benefits of that program and just handing him things to read…he has to make his mind by April 22…and apparently the big packet with all the info is in the mail and will be here Monday…

Kennedy, congrats on the WashU decision. My S is a happy junior there.

Drum roll, please. D has made her decision. She plans to attend Dickinson College.

We sent the deposit today, and she notified the other colleges. I guess that makes it official.

Congrats to everyone on the final decisions! What a relief when that deposit check is sent! I thought we were done with the whole college app process until D1 informed me that she’s started her search for graduate school!! At least I don’t have to be (too) involved. She’s looking at Ole Miss and University of South Carolina - for now. She’s going to wait until she gets back to campus after her study abroad to ask her profs for their recommendations. She thinking either a Masters in Public History, or African-American History or Southern Culture/History. Her internship at the civil war battlefield this summer should help her decide which direction she wants to go. Her career goal is to be a historical interpreter/museum specialist. Of course, I also mentioned that she could come live with us in London and pursue a graduate course in theater. So many choices!

Oh, and I’m headed off to Prague tomorrow to visit her for a week. I’ll have a lot of reading to do here on CC when I get back!

Safe trip meg!

Congratulations to you and your D, Sacchi!

It’s funny how kids make their decisions. I just ran into my neighbor, who is deciding among three very viable options. She started discussing the pros and cons of them, and it was clear to me which one she was leaning towards, but yet she doesn’t know it. She and her parents are going to have a sit down discussion tonight, so I can’t wait to find out if they choose the one she seems to be leaning towards.

The same thing happened to my daughter. Towards the end, I could tell which one she was leaning towards, and yet she didn’t realize it for several weeks.

Congrats to all of you leaving the lounge chairs with decisions.

Safe travels, meg; be sure to check out the Charles Bridge artists’ work if you have the time.

Yay! Congrats to Kennedy, Kat, Sacchi and all with decisions made and deposits sent!

TerinZak- hope the FA gets fully sorted soon - Congrats on the scholarship news.

Kelowna - It’s hard to imagine even considering taking a pass on that Robertson Scholar - but the options must be amazing to cause a deliberation. That’s awesome!

We have a sort of decision… DD13 submitted the SIR to UC Davis and we paid the $100.00 fee…and also submitted the Request for Deferred Enrollment so she can do the 10 month scholarship in Germany. There’s a fee for that deferral request too -$70.00, the weird thing is that fee must be mailed, not paid on line. Strange. Meanwhile, I’ve got a knot in my stomach… I’m very concerned UCD won’t grant the request for deferral and we will have to start all over again next year. They say they respond in 5 -7 days, I’m gonna need a manicure as I’m sure I will start biting my nails any minute!

Megphmom - Wow! Enjoy Prague! Safe journey!

No doubt!

Excellent note on interviewing, DDHM. I suspect that’s why S13 felt awkward. Although one of his interviews went swimmingly.

tx5 – I’ll take a Blueberry Pomegranate Margarita!

Re: tuxes. I have no idea how we’ll choose this year. Ex-G always picked out the ties/tuxedos. For the last year, even the shirts. She’s a decent bargain shopper with great taste, so that worked just fine for me… but Prom isn’t until June 7. Graduation is June 9.

Oh, congratulations, Kennedy! I’m sure she’ll do great there – WashU was my favorite of all the places we visited! I’ll have another Margarita.

And congratulations, sacchi and D! Another great choice!

Have fun visiting, megp!

pouncecat - here’s to granted deferral in record time - fingers crossed for you!

And hang in there to anyone finishing taxes tomorrow!

Where is tx5 with that tray of margaritas?? :)

I’m out of town this weekend, but talked to my wife earlier and she and S’13 went to Men’s Wearhouse today and rented his tux. Then they bought blue blazer, shirts, ties. etc. Pretty sure the tux thing is a scam.

Congrats to all with decisions today.

If it makes any difference to anybody, Yale just won the Men’s NCAA Ice Hockey Tournament (the Frozen Four). First national championship for Yale.

They played out of their minds. The playing field in hockey hasn’t been totally warped by football money – yet. I’m just hoping my small school can finally break through in hockey before the advent of Big Ten hockey distorts the resource parity so that smaller schools can’t compete.

pouncecat2- you have NOTHING to worry about! Deferrals are fairly standard. As long as they have a good reason to make the request, there should be no fear that it would be denied. I really don’t think you have anything to worry about!
