I also want to express support to those with Senior loved ones that are not well. Healing prayers for you both.

DS just woke up after a night of movie editing and informed me:

!!!FULL RIDE TO U CHICAGO !!!

I need something stronger than Chardonnay…

Congratulations!!!

Steve and Midwestern - keeping your dads in my thoughts.

Congratulations on all the decisions - wow - there were a lot today…Music, Ahs, Steve, Midwestern, and Greek. Great choices!

Kelowna - congratulations! - I hope this was one of the schools that your S wanted to renegotiate!

OK everyone - only 13 more days until May 1…

Amid all the happy news here, I just received a note from ATT that D1, who’s in Montreal for a few days, has already exceeded $100 (American) in int’l data charges. Impressive, no? They’re threatening to cut her off.

Maybe that’ll work better for them…

BTW, congrats on YALE and the full ride to Chicago!! Those ain’t easy. (Much easier to exceed data limits, for example.)

tougis - once I was in Jamaica. We arrived late in the day and I didn’t use my phone all evening. The next morning I had an email from Sprint saying that I had incurred over $160 in data charges. The reason was because my smart phone automatically checks and downloads information for me. Thanks smartphone.

Tougi- Ouch! Back in the day - I used to do some work near the Mexican border and the cell coverage was from Mexico…an operator picked up and asked for a credit card. Hahaha -NO! Went to a pay phone (I did say it was back in the day) called the office and said ‘I won’t be checking in.’ A few years later - after the invention of data on phones - my friend went to Mexico for a weekend…his data charges were $300.00 he didn’t even know he was on an international charge! Makes me wonder if your D knew.

We got more money! I’ll be jumping ship soon, I think!

tougis - Tell your daughter to turn off data roaming on her phone - that’s what is causing the charges.

Kelowna, that is absolutely fabulous! Congratulations to your S and to all who have made decisions! Excellent!

DD and I start our week-long trip Sunday night. Did I mention she’s in the spring musical, so has rehearsals every night until 8 or later, gets home around 9, then does homework for a few hours? Show is this weekend, we leave after the Sunday matinee. She’s going to bring AP practice tests with her on the trip.

First of all YDS, NO JUMPING SHIP. We can’t have any men ( or women
) overboard! Won’t have it. You can, however, give up your deck chair and help me serve! I have consumed too much of tx5’s yummy sangria.

Tougis - Funny! I mean sad…for your wallet, or D’s wallet…but funny that’s she really is living it up in Montreal!

TVnee - Someone upthread posted a laundry ‘backpack’ that a student can sling over his/her shoulders and transport to the dorm laundry room. Such a clever idea! I googled ‘dorm laundry backpack’ to find one

Saw this tonight on Twitter and I thought I would share. Boston Bruins crowd took over the singing of the National Anthem after the first stanza. All of those voices, rising together. Really beautiful.

BigDogLover and Tougis…this one’s especially for you…

[Bruins-Sabres National Anthem - YouTube](<a href=“Bruins-Sabres National Anthem - YouTube”>Bruins-Sabres National Anthem - YouTube)

Oh, that’s right. Of course, I’ll serve! But not quite yet.

Ok, just ordered laundry backpacks from Amazon. I don’t know where they’ll be taking them to college, but at least the kids will have them.

The news about outside scholarship to Chicago will make this decision even harder…

I am also thinking about buying one of those laundry backpacks. Do they have them in grey ? ;)

Kelowna- congratulations on U Chicago! How will he ever decide? Big difference between being a Blue Devil and going to a school without sports teams!

I leave early tomorrow morning and will be off the grid on and off for a couple of weeks. If I manage to get an internet connection/cafe I will look for Confetti’s updates.

Good luck to everyone. What an incredible journey. Thank you for sharing this with me! As I sip my ouzo and gaze at the wine dark sea I will imagine each of you as my lovely cocktail waitresses. DS13a will have to make a decision in my absence, hopefully we’ll get in one good Skype discussion prior to May 1 (and after April 27 CPW!) so that I know where he will be spending the next four years!

Greek - Have a great trip and Christos Anesti!! (hope I spelled that right.)

Yay for the laundry backpack! Such a good idea. I am so glad someone on this thread told me about them
pkd - I love that you have no idea where the laundry backpacks will be used, but you know they will have them! hee

No one’s ever called me a lovely cocktail waitress before!! <blush></blush>

Adding to the day of good news!!!
Son got call today that HE GOT THE RESEARCH SCHOLARSHIP that he was the alternate for…someone else turned it down today and they offered it to him…full ride plus great opportunities!!! Then, S and D2’s academic team qualified for state today THEN D1 got a call while in the shower tonight that she won a State association scholarship in her major renewable for four years! I promptly bought a lottery ticket (which I never do) WHAT A DAY!!!
And by the way, it’s nice to be able to share good news and know that every one in virtual land, sailing along listening to great tunes with drinks in hand are happy for us!!! (And that nagging about scholarship deadlines is paying off)

3Triplet - Your kids are awesome! What a day you’ve had! Congratulations! Good luck on the Lotto!

WOW 3Triplet!!! Bet you wish this day would never end! Party up on deck tonight, for sure!

They say good things happen in 3s, right?!

Kelowna: Ok, this is getting ridiculous! Is your S starting to worry yet about the clock ticking on the big decision, ('cuz I think mine is getting a little stressed at this point)? Congratulations…again!
