Thanks SOG!

Looks like we now have a disco ball in the Main Salon… dance floors make great skating rinks…shall we do the Hokie Pokie? Tx5 was it you with the tequila, chips and guacamole? Yum! Let’s get our disco skate on!

D1 is currently involved (pretty heavily) in some school thing called Senior Assassination. If you don’t know what that is, it’s Hunger Games, only without the wasps.

Disco skate? Not my deepest genre for musical obscurities, but we will see what we can do.

Wilma: Go Bears!!

So S13 received a wonderful merit aid offer from a school he never applied to & we have never heard of. Too funny!

Congrats Matmaven!

Congrats MarthaW, Mom24boys, Wintriest (great SN!), lvvcsf and wilma13 - and welcome above the water line :)

TVenee - feel better! I cannot imagine going through this with little ones, and then to get sick. Where’s the orange juice? I’m zooming your way!

Haystack, that’s a fantastic stat :).

LOL megpmom - thanks for the hope…

SomeOldGuy - both my cats and my dog have staff.

Oh, disco skate, how fun. And we all know what that means… skate limbo!

congrats on the merit, Kat…???

SomeOldGuy, how about Y.M.C.A. for our skate party?

Haystack - I saw that Colbert Report - good stuff. Sounds like your son is in a great place where he will have many opportunities to find a great major that inspires him. I switched majors many times (physics to Econ/math to math (final choice)) and I know our kids will move around. Great that he is in a place where there are so many great choices!

Disco skates ready. Hokey pokey…let’s GO!

Senior assassin has been in our household for the past couple of months - so tired of it, but also intrigued. Down to 13 kids from 90 or so and DK is still in it. I swear if there was as much time spent on school as there is on spreadsheet analyses of who is assigned to kill whom there would be an honorary doctorate for DK sitting on our doorstep :-). I also am tired of having to maneuver my way around the car parked right next to the front door to avoid DK “being killed” on the way to the car.

Rise and shine SS! Today you all are off the wagon and I am serving bloody mary, screwdrivers, mimosas and nice, strong, hot French roast coffee (with or without baileys). Also have a big, traditional American breakfast with hot cakes, eggs your style, bacon, sausage, grits, potatoes, homemade bread, buns, and all the “fixins”. Only 4 days left before the big celebration!

YMCA? Y not?

[Village People Set “YMCA” World Record at the Sun Bowl - YouTube](<a href=“- YouTube”>- YouTube)

Attention, student lurkers!

Your parents are now hanging out in cyberspace pretending (???) to get hammered before 8:00 AM and roller-skating around the deck of a cruise ship to disco music. If that doesn’t make you ready to move out of the house, there’s not much help for you. You need to make that decision soon.

We now return you to your irregularly scheduled programming.

Thought I’d post this about Senior Assassin
My son is not involved because apparently there was a sign up, and he and his friends missed it… talk about lazy!

And PS Greek, boys do not wear panties!
(unless you were referring to the panties of any girls they might meet!)

Police Advise Residents:

Be Aware of Students Playing “Senior Assassin” Game This Spring

It has once again come to the attention of the Montgomery Police that the annual spring activity of certain high school seniors known as “senior assassins” is being carried out in the Township. Senior assassins involves those competing students or teams chasing their opponents and squirting them with large water guns thus eliminating them from further play. The game is not supported or condoned by the Montgomery School District. Furthermore, the activity has caused both residents and law enforcement alarm due to the devices and methods utilized by participants.

In our continuing effort to keep residents and motorists safe and fully informed, the police department would like to inform the public this game is currently being played and citizens may notice an increase in both vehicular and pedestrian traffic involving groups of students. Motorists are asked to use extra caution especially at night when those involved may be walking inattentively through residential areas. Parents of participating students should caution their children on the dangers of possessing realistic looking weapons, careless driving, and overall risky behavior that could put them or others in jeopardy.

While this game is being played, residents should not assume unusual behavior is associated with the game and police remind anyone who observes any suspicious, unsafe, or illegal activity to contact the Montgomery Police at 908- or dial 9-1-1 in case of an emergency. Anyone with any questions can contact Lieutenant James Curry at

Thank you.

DS13a made the 2.5 hour drive to his last CPW just fine. Even though I am half way across the world, I asked him to send me a text when he arrived so that when I read it the next morning I would know that he made it safely. His text said “I love it here.” Even typing it brings tears to my eyes. I am so happy that he found his true “fit.”

So even though we don’t have an official decision, please skate on by me. I think I must have been ganged up on last night and over did it a little. Who was serving that ouzo???

We are hoping to have a family skype call in order to make a decision on Sunday.

You all are such great cyberfriends, providing much needed humor and musical entertainment! SOG - your words to the kids this morning - truly hit the mark!

There was a fun article in the U V A thread by a student wrapping up their first year. If you get a moment, take a peek. Helped to put perspective on the fact that regardless of the decision reached, everyone pretty much ends up quite fine where they choose to enroll. Also made clear that maybe we don’t need to jump the gun on buying things for the dorm :)

Congrats to all moving into the next phase of the college launch cycle. Many have chosen neuroticparent’s son’s school - D U K E! Bravo. Her hilarious book on the process and CC has been well-done. All others - great choices, exciting thrills, and amazing journeys ahead!

Hope student reaches a decision here soon - getting excited to join the rest of you in “next-phase land.”

SOG - where is the LIKE button? Too funny!

Adding my D at Dickinson.

SomeOldGuy - very funny! I have Kennedy’s tasty coffee all over the room now since I was sipping and reading at the same time and laughed so hard at your post!

Okay, kids. If I didn’t get my point across the first time, spend four minutes considering this good advice from some of the guys who basically invented “college rock.”

(And before all y’all from MoCo get bent out of shape here, you could substitute anyone’s hometown here; it’s just that Mike Mills was dating someone from Maryland when they wrote this song.)
