More excellent additions to the list today, as the disco ball keeps spinning. Congrats to all the decideds and best wishes for a contemplative weekend for those down to final choices.

SomeOldGuy - Oh I laughed so hard! I had to read your lurker post to DH! Awesome.

I have not heard of Senior Assassin. Perhaps S13 was eliminated early. Sadly, that disappoints me a little.

Oh Greek - I’m so happy for you and DS13a!

congrats, David1126, LCSMOM, gunnerz and amandakayak!

good luck, dadotwoboys’s S!

Is anyone else watching the draft? For the first time ever, my team drafted the guy I wanted them to! It’s a good day for football. I am content. :D

wherenext - someone here suggested gift card to the campus bookstore. This would of course be used for apparel and stuffed mascots, not books.

The ring sounds awesome!

loving the Ramen idea ;)

Sorry to all with tooth problems - no fun!

Also, sorry I was late with the song installment today. I had a hard time getting up due to a little too much limbo last night… then S13 left his trunk open so needed a jump, which left me just late enough that I was in the wrong place when some idiot on a cell phone took his foot off the brake . I’m fine, the car’s fine (he was stopped, then rolled into me). But I was IRRITATED at him. All day.

Twelve Days of Decisions:

On the ninth day of decisions, S13 said to me:

“Sorry, I’m too busy”

“They need more trees on campus”
“It isn’t really Hogwarts”
“I kinda like the city”
“STOP Nagging Me!”
“Do they have my major?”
“Silly mascot”
“Too many loans!”
“But Mom, I still love my safety…”

my3gr8boyz - Love the story about senior assassins game–especially the part about reporting suspicious activity. At my D’s school, it is AP Assassins and the school really tries to discourage it. They do it after the AP tests are finished and use Nerf guns instead of water guns.

Last summer some kids organized a group game that involved the kids splitting up into two groups and one group tried to get from one location to another (on foot) within a set period of time and the other group tried to tag them. I forget the name of the game but we had a write-up in our local newspaper warning residents about it and letting everyone know that the police and school district didn’t like the fact that the kids were playing the game. The starting and ending points were several miles apart and I thought it was great exercise. The student who put it together was a cross-country runner. I understand there being problems if the kids were sneaking around on people’s property but they were just taking trails through the woods on public land and using sidewalks. I think they were worried that the kids would be distracted and get hit by cars while crossing streets but that didn’t happen. The police even ended up disbanding the finish location because the kids were congregating in a parking lot.

I would love to see the newspaper headline about the things I did as a kid on summer nights: Residents Beware, Kids Playing Hide and Seek and Kick the Can at a Corner Near You!

A special shout out to LCSMOM’s S’s decision. Go Big Red!!

OK Ladies and Gentlemen, I’m officially off the lounge chair. D13’ pushed the button and officially committed to Columbia University! The hardest part was sending the personal message to her admissions officer from U C H I C A G O, that she had to decline their offer. Once she did that, she was in celebratory mode! Now the real journey begins!

Confetti - I love the Indigo Girls! Closer to Fine is part of the soundtrack of my life (college chapter) … Some songs define certain times in my life. :)

TVenee! Congrats on your D’s decision to attend C O L O M B I A!!
very exciting!

Congrats to everyone whose sons & daugters have made their final decisions …

And cyberhugs for those parents still awaiting decisions … I feel ya’ … Still in the same boat here!!

You know, I had my kids without pain killers & consider myself to have a high pain tolerance, but this is killing me. I seriously should have yanked the other two at the same time. It didn’t hurt like this when I took out the first one 12 yrs ago. Maybe it’s because i was younger?? Idk

Will have to hold off on a drink here for a day or two. They aren’t advised with the meds from this tooth extraction.

I’ve been lurking on this thread for months…I hope is ok to jump on ship now. I’m happy to say that as of yesterday, I’m available to serve. DD finally made a decision so I hope it’s ok that I’m adding her to the list. This has been a wild ride and a very tough decision in the end. I’m proud of how maturely D handled it all.

Welcome to all the former lurkers. I agree we should have a better name - what about “shadowers”? Like you shadow someone on a career day? Not that we know what we’re doing :D

This is a new musical direction for us, but significant for me right now. There’s a little less music in the world.

[George Jones-He Stopped Loving Her Today… - YouTube](<a href=“George Jones-He Stopped Loving Her Today.... - YouTube”>George Jones-He Stopped Loving Her Today.... - YouTube)

Good call on George Jones and the Indigo Girls. It’s hard to think of a college campus the Indigo Girls DIDN’T play in the 1980’s. And to keep the mood mellow, how about “Ironman”? (You just need to trust me on this one.)

I need prayers, pixie dust or any good karma you can send my way. My mother-in-law fell yesterday and broke her hip. We are waiting and hoping that she will have surgery sometime today. I am sad to say that this is like navigating in a third world country. There is little to no staff in the hospital and no medicine!!! It’s a very, very sad situation. I’m living for the happy texts that I receive from DS13a who is still on his Palo Alto visit. He has found three other kids that he knows and is in heaven! I will wait until it is official before I put him on the list

So sorry about your mother-in-law GreekM. Sending good vibes your way…

You’ve got all three coming from here. I’m glad your MIL has you to help navigate this. And good news re DS13a, even though I was hoping for a duo in Durham. It’s a great feeling to see your kid arrive on campus and know that he is – finally – among his people.

Good morning SS - what a glorious day! It is bright, sunny and warm (well…at least not cold) here where I am. Finally! Serving fresh brewed coffee with bagels and cream cheese this morning. Something quick, so I can get out of here and go play in the sun. Enjoy.

SOG - I’m liking The Cardigans :)

Greek - positive vibes for your MIL, for sure.

I’ve got a fruit tray for those who want to snack while soaking up the sun.

Oh dear, GreekM, your poor MIL. Sending all the pixie dust, prayers, and karma we can muster along with strength to you as you navigate health care system…

Good Morning all. Lots of decisions should be made this weekend and can’t wait to here where everyone lands!

SOG-FANTASTIC selections this morning! Beautiful Day is my theme song

Greek
Sending good vibes!

TV-Same situation here with the personal note from U Ch i cago. I love that school! D had not pressed the decline button for UC because it was so close to perfect for her. Then the personal note, D just sent a note back…not fun for her to write! There is one more she has had trouble declining and that she doesn’t want me to list here. This has been tougher than she expected! A very lucky position to be in none the less.

Yeah kelbee’s niece!

Yeah momtobgb!
