Mommydearest: I think S2 wants S3 to come to his school is more so that he can use his meal swipes and take a nap in his dorm room in between classes when he doesn’t want to go back to his apartment and less because he loves his brother and wants to be close.

OMG… she just sent me another text and said “one more week and we’re SENIORS :DDD!”

I think I had a minor heart attack at that. Thanks, kid.

Two seniors. I’m gonna go curl up in a dark closet with a bottle of booze and pretend that isn’t happening.

Longhaul: 7:30 was AMAZING…LOL

Jrs APUSH teacher makes all the kids lunch for after the test.
And on Monday, his AP Bio teacher will be making pancakes for all the kids before the test.

So they may not have much sleep, but they will be well fed ;)

Walker: You just made my heart stop…not going to lie. I plan on joining you in the dark closet…

MDMom, the password is “Bourbon”. It’s not a big closet but we should fit all curled up into the fetal position that we no doubt will be in.

Sending out a personal invite for SteveMA too.

Jazzii: the word in my house is that it wasn’t “easy, easy but it was easier than I expected. and easier than AP Euro last year.” Guess we’ll see in July ;)

We still have another month before school gets out so I have a bit more time with “juniors” vs “seniors”…mid June though-whoa, move over in the closet!!

I was just telling my H this AM as we carpooled into work together (yes, we work 24/7 together…that is a WHOLE other story) that Jr better not give me any grief when it comes to Sr portraits, etc…

^^^Oh we’ve already had that. We got the packet from the photographer last week & I mentioned that she’d have her cap & gown and drape picture from them, but that the candid portraits I was having a co-worker (that’s a photographer on weekends) do. After about a minute of squawking, DH said “you’re having that done, and that’s enough.”

Love it!!
So far, H is giving me the green light…but who knows what will happen once Jr gets filled in on all of this.

wherenext, not very fair on the non-cheaters! I hope that your D isn’t too disappointed.
tx5athome, what a great way to ask a girl to the prom! I’m taking a break from work and had to laugh at your S2’s ulterior motives! Sounds like brotherly love!
MDMom, we wait until next year for the portraits, thank goodness. S12 wasn’t really concerned about which pictures we chose to send off to relatives, but I’m sure that D13 will have quite a lot to say!

D also thought the APUSH test was easier than expected and is optimistic about a top score. She thought she beasted the DBQ and did well on the other two essays. Also felt the mc was easier than world history last year. AP Lang next week is her last one. Still a little more than a month of school left here.

Since we are on the topic of AP’s, how many AP classes do your kids plan on taking next year?

Jr is taking:
AP Physics
AP Cal
AP Lang
AP Gov’t

There is no AP Religion offered and he needs to finally take Art so he can graduate. Which means that he had to drop AP Spanish 4.

S3’s plan for AP’s next year:
AP Spanish
AP Eng Lit
AP Physics
AP GOV (1 sem)/ AP Econ (1 sem)
AP Calc A/B

That’s right!! I forgot how they split AP Gov and AP Econ into a semester each.

AP Calc BC
AP Lang/Lit whatever (which ever one they didn’t have this year)
AP Psych

They will also be taking 2 college level dual enrollment classes-Spanish, which equals Spanish V in our high school but it’s Spanish II at the University and Physics I.

D is taking Calc BC, English Lit, Psych, French (can be done for dual credit to avoid the AP test) and dual enrollment Physics. She needs to add one more class and is looking to do an independent study.

She’s not back from Euro yet. Here AP Gov and Econ are taught as year-long classes, which makes them rather easy classes.

Edit - OK, she’s home - Euro was good, the DBQ was ‘awesome’. Time to dress for prom!

It’s so funny who schools differ in their class selections from private to public across the country.

Jr could have taken a 0 period to get Art out of the way earlier, but we already live a 40 mins away from the school, so that wasn’t going to happen.

Mommydearest, from what I can tell, ComDis is extremely competitive all over. Her first choice school at this time (as far as I can tell) is Kentucky. They limit the number of undergrads to 30 and then the grad program to 20, so they place all of their undergrads between their program and the other places people apply. Some schools have a ton of undergrads, but their grad school placement rate is really low. I know, since I manage a program for preschoolers with autism and we hire com dis majors who didn’t get into grad school as ABA tutors!

DD also had APUSH today. No word on test-her school is relatively strict on cell phones. She had heard that APUSH is usually alot harder than AP Euro, as the multiple choice has 5 answers instead of 4. Hopeing she has a good result. She has has AP lang next week. She didn’t take the class, but her teacher told her to take the test anyway.

Next year she just expects to take APES, AP Psych, AP stats and AP government. She is not the big time academic student like so many posters kids!

D is taking AP gov, AP lit, AP Calc AB, AP Spanish, and AP Bio. Also, anatomy and a study hall. Called her college of choice and asked how they felt about study halls and was given the green light so that’s a bit of relief. She didn’t want the Spanish but the same school said all four years must include foreign language in high school even if they had it in 8th grade.
Smallest son, of the tooth/ jaw injury, is recovered reasonably well from that. However, he and his band teacher are like oil and water. He is quitting next year, which is fine, so did not practice any of the music for the mandatory audition yesterday. Today’s grade report? An F on that/ C+ in band so far this quarter. Smallest son is going to be the death of me. I told him, if he had been the first child, he would have been an only child. He thinks I’m kidding. Little does he know…
Happy Friday, everyone!
