So much good news and we were really lucky too! No need for Reeses or giving up on ND Football!..EA yes! It isn;t a definite go, but definitely in the final run…will wait to see about the instate reach but thanks to EA she has time to visit, meet professors, talk to people and consider her options.

School environment is a mixture of joy/angst/sorrow and I think D is realizing how very fortunate she is. One kid’s safety is another kid’s dream school so they need to learn to keep their comments to themselves or just the closest friends and nix the update on facebook. Luckily, it seems my D was the only applicant to ND from her school but today there are several friends expecting to hear from an Ivy and it is very unlikely to have joy all around. Even the kids not applying are nervous about the outcome.

Funny story though…I used to help in math in elementary school and I remarked to one Mom that her 8 year old was destined for MIT…well…10 years later…guess where kid is headed!?I should be reading palms…

Congrats to dragonflygarden’s DD! Chicago results are up on the website, but my D is at a school activity until 5. I know her password, but am trying very hard not to peek!

She checked from school, and was accepted to Chicago. That provides some comfort while she awaits the rest of her decisions.

mamabear - I know your pain. I texted DS decisions would be out this afternoon before he went to bball practice and asked if he wanted me to check and text the answer. He said NO. I AM DYING!!!

ahsmuoh - We had the same comments for S13. He just smiled and nodded and signed up for the hard courses. I think at this point he’s finally taking hard classes he’s interested in instead of hard classes he needs, so maybe that’s it?

our2girls - congrats on both the acceptance and the scholarship! That’s a great one - you must be very proud of her :).

mommaof5 I didn’t tell S13 when Notre Dame mailed decisions, so he went out to get the mail not know it would likely be there. I couldn’t stand it for him if it took an extra day!

Oh congrats fineartsmom and Dragonflygarden!

mamabear1234 and mommaof5 - we’re the opposite, I’m at work and S13 agreed not to check until I get home so I can be there. Now I’m starting to feel guilty – but I really want to be there!

LOL mamabear - congrats!

Sorry, Walker. For the kid, a deferral is better than a redirect. Not so sure for the parents… on the other hand, UChicago is one that is supposed to give a lot of weight to extras and supplementals, so maybe she can add?

Wow, what a list of congratulations!
Good news from dadotwoboys, fineartsmajormom, Dragonflygarden and mamabear! Wonderful!

I’m sorry, Walker - the whole college process is so stressful - I’ve had my head in the sand all day! I know that your D will shine, whether UChicago realizes their mistake or not!

D’13 got her EA acceptance and may join her brother at UChicago next year!

Congrats Dragonflygarden, dadotwoboys, mamabear, fineartsmajormom, and fredricksdottir!

I got deferred from UChicago, which I’m fine with. I decided a couple days ago that it wouldn’t be the right place for me, and they must have realized that too. I think I want to have engineering as an option. :)

Oh, also, I just remembered that my second teacher rec didn’t get sent out until December 6th ( ) so that may have had something to do with it.
