<p>terinzak - yes, you can post - I’d love to hear. I know some don’t post about schools because of athletic scholarship stuff that I don’t understand. I personally sometimes haven’t wanted to post names before acceptances because it makes me worry about jinxing something… also, I was originally worried that my list would sound too… well, too something. But that was before I knew all of you :).</p>
<p>I think that with an athletic scholarship it sometimes much to easy to put a name to the student, depending on the size of the school and other information. In order to keep some anonymity people don’t post the name of the college.</p>
<p>Thanks STeveMA. I had no idea what the CSS profile was asking. I will start the FAFSA. Did you guys have your kids do the FAFSA, or did you just fill it all out. the only thing, so far, that I can tell DD can fill out is her address, email and driver’s license…why do they need that!!!</p>

<p>Confetti hang in there .Mortgage refinancing is a pain and in our case didn’t work and we were really screwed by the bank. We moved out of a very large (5,000sf) home to one a little over 1/2 of that thought moving was the end of the world .but we survived and are better for it…this month we had the lowest electrical bill EVER!!! I may be able to afford college books with that kind of savings…who knows!!!</p>
<p>Thanks all for the input on the road trip. Spoke to one of the other moms tonight and I think we are going to tell the girls that they can’t go. It really isn’t the visit but all 3 of them really have other commitments at home that weekend and can go later in the spring. </p>
<p>Grad parties here are “open house” style too. We have 14 seniors in our neighborhood from 4 different schools - we have talked about having one big block party with a band - but doubt anyone will take the lead to plan. But 12 of the kids were born “in the neighborhood” so they really grew up together. </p>
<p>I also have delegated the financial forms to dh. He has signed up for a webinar on Monday about the FAFSA - and then will do the forms after he learns!!!</p>
<p>Wow, crittermom, did that house come with a maid…my house is a little over half that size and I want to downsize to half of it…tired of cleaning 4 bathrooms…too much space we don’t even use.</p>
<p>Good luck to everyone filling out the FAFSA papers. At least that was paperwork I did not have to fill out. We don’t qualify for aid and yet somehow we are trying to figure how on earth we will be able to manage it. I find the income brackets confusing…but that is a whole other story. We are keeping our fingers crossed that between a sports Scholarship and D’s achievement awards that she is covered. Has anyone here ever combined sports with honors? We have had to decline a lot of schools that accepted her because it was one or the other. I think if a kid is a very competitive player and a scholar in HS they will probably be able to handle it in college as well…right? Anyways I am keeping my fingers crossed for all of you that are filling out the forms……</p>
<p>crittermom - my dd’s bff combined academic and athletic scholarship to get a full ride. She is class of 13 so we will see how it goes - I think she will do fine. She has chosen not to be in honors though - too much with training and traveling.</p>
<p>I was told to have DD(or me) fill out FAFSA because lots of outside/local/private scholarships (not loans) use or ask for the FAFSA…and that for some local groups, there is not always that much competition…so, they will give some scholarship money out even for some “high” EFC’s…not sure it’s true, but worth a shot??</p>
<p>MommyDearest: Oh how i wish!! ALthough without the Ec that DD is involved in we probably could of had one!! No I was maid, cook, launderer, zookeeper, etc…. I hated it and I am extremely OCD!!! We had 5 baths and are down to 3! OMG it is so wonderful!!! There were rooms that were designated “the animal’s rooms” so the dogs had their own room and the birds had theirs…now we all co-exsist in a nice cozy smaller house. I don’t spend so much time cleaning and life is good. Im thinking of even getting a job when D goes off to college……I mean she is 1/2 of the laundry and mess anyways.</p>
<p>drmom I will have to inquire on that…I think anything is worth a shot. D’s counselor was pretty sure that it was pointless for us to fill it out however. We have had some generous merit offers so far and extra $$ for being a NMSF so we are very thankful. :)</p>

<p>On graduation parties - I probably will just have a nice dinner with my family, I don’t really want a big party and I don’t think my parents want to plan one, either. :)</p>
<p>On not saying the school name - Some people don’t say to protect their identity if it’s a small school I think, but I’m just like every other CC kid: applying to all HMFRs. So I don’t really pay attention to it.</p>
<p>On financial aid - I’ve been enjoying being done with apps for a couple days, but pretty quick here I’ll have to start sitting on my parents to fill out these dang forms! I don’t think we’ll get any aid, but whatever.</p>
<p>On green boxes - I can’t give out anymore for 24 hours, butttttt hit my puff. :)</p>

<p>We were sent an e-mail from USC to fill out a CSS profile, that I have started. It is very detailed and I will have to fill it out when I get all the information together. I am impressed with everyone here that has filled these forms out. I am pretty sure we will not get any aid but as drmom pointed out it is worth a shot!!</p>

<p>Read through all the road trip, and the topic concluded before I had a chance to chime in! Someone mentioned their son accelerating and braking, and I notice that, too! Is it a guy thing? It must be really cool to get somewhere really fast, even if it is just down the street! :)</p>

<p>Crittermom - I grew up riding horses and my older sister runs a small barn with a few students who she takes to shows on weekends during the ‘season’. Nothing fancy, nothing indoors, though my sis DID get to compete at the National Horse Show in the Garden many eons ago in the Side Saddle division! I always stuck with hunters - pony hunter, children’s hunter, and not the higher equitation. We went to one big A show each year, because it was close by. Always loved that one cuz it got me out of the last week of school! PS I always knew how to keep a barn clean, but not so much a house!!</p>

Speaking of confetti - Great job to Packers for moving on in the playoffs!! And I’m really sorry about the mortgage stuff and phone stuff. </p>
<p>89wahoo - you were on my list, but I can’t remember why! I’ll come back and edit… It was the Scotties!! Cute little things! They remind me of black Westies (with bigger ears!) and ironically, a Westie is the center of this years mock trial case. Be careful if you are bathing with Petsicon’s flea products or your doggies may end up with neurological problems, or worse yet, deceased,then you will have to sue the company! </p>

<p>DS is getting active on his school’s 2017 Facebook group and is confident that through chatting and meeting people, he’ll find a place to stay for Blue Devil Days in April (they don’t provide housing for ED students. Why would they? They’ve already got us. They need to spend time selling themselves to the students who are still deciding 
) I’m proud of him for this. He’s gotten more social in the last two years and that makes me feel much more comfortable about what next year holds.</p>
<p>mygr8boyz: Always good to meet other rider:) My D went to all the indoor shows 2 years ago and due to an injury didn’t get to go last fall even though she qualified for all the Eq. medals. 
I would have loved to see a show at the Garden…I have heard they were amazing!!! My D definitely misses a lot of school because of the shows. Somehow she pulls competing and school off…I don’t think I could do it…I am not much of a rider…basically walk trot……for me. I just spoil them!</p>
<p>For all you who were wondering…he’s in at University of Utah! The clincher for him was the engineering professor/advisor played robots with him at his interview last summer. That was too cool for my son!</p>

<p>(Actually–we live in a delightfully old house. Like older than the country old, so fireplaces in every room. Love love getting up on a cold morning and having my tea in front of a fire.)</p>

<p>And after 1192 pages of posts I kind of like that most of us still have final decisions re: next year to look forward to. So many acceptances in hand but still so many schools to hear from plus all that f/a news. I’m always excited by this part of the process and have to admit that once the decision has been made, I’m a teensy bit sad.</p>
<p>I think everybody should consider taking all of their not-yet-empty bottles to Walker’s basement on May 1st for a grand “IT’S OVER” blow-out.</p>
