@staceyneil - so good to see you back on the thread! Hope financial solutions will present themselves to you in the near future.

@Mrspepper - I feel for you! It can be such a tough time. Have you received FA pkgs from all of them? If so, are there some you may want to cross off the list because they’re just not financially feasible. Bowdoin is a need-blind, no loans school, isn’t it? Hopefully, that would be a tremendous financial plus for you. Hope it becomes clear to your son this week which school would be the best fit for him.

@dilecon-won’t get FA but we heard it is great at both. Looking at grad school so it will be a long expensive journey regardless. Lately there has been bad press about a couple of schools and it is hard to sift out what is reality for a typical student.

@mrspepper Good luck getting to the finish line! What’s the intended major? Have you tried that trick of preparing to commit to a school to see if there’s a sinking feeling or a feeling of elation? Or maybe the reaction to the bad press tells the story.

@Mrspepper I’m right there with you, getting very sea sick. Today’s visit to Michigan didn’t give him clarity. It did give me a blister the size of a quarter on the bottom of my foot (as well as two other blisters). We had the tour guide from h*ll who was racing from one spot to another- very far distances with no stops or talking about anything we were passing. It was the worst tour ever. Then, after she raced past one building, we went out of our way to go back to that spot later in the tour, when we thought we were almost done! I can barely walk. I must have climbed 30 flights of stairs today. I wouldn’t go to school there if they paid me to do it! I just don’t have the stamina. The differences between his two options were made very clear, but which one is a better fit for him is not clear at all.

Congrats to 1dilecon and crewkid for their kids decisions.

@Minnymom - we will be in the same situation next year with Georgetown and Villanova stickers on the car. Basketball season could create a very divided house. At least she didn’t go to Syracues. S said he would have disowned her!

@momreads - S will be applying to law schools next fall. He is taking an LSAT prep program through the summer for the October exam. I am curios regarding law school FA as S will be on his own and he doesn’t want to be buried in debt. I haven’t had the time to spend on this subject as its all been consumed with D’s college visits and decisions. Based on his LSAT scores from practice tests, he is targeting for a real score in the low 170’s which he hopes is good enough for FA or scholarships.

@overseasmom - We had planned on a new Apple Macbook but the old laptop died over the holidays so that purchase was made early. She did comment that she would like a Keurig coffee maker and I found a nice model on sale as Sam’s Club last weekend for $99 so its in the storage closet waiting for graduation. She will also get a couple of gift cards for clothing as she has lived in school uniforms for the past four years and she is looking forward to having a real wardrobe for college!

SS Indecision update - Just 9 days to go until everyone must disembark from the ship.

Graduations, college decisions, party planning . . . totally forgot that AP testing starts a week from Monday. D has her one and only AP test on a Friday afternoon. EW…

Total senioritis at our house! AND he has only seven days of classes left before senior exams and AP exams! YIKES! On top of that, he has track practice daily and this week he has Senior Follies (a comedy show satirizing the high school from the seniors’ point of view) practice all evening, every evening. AND has a cross-state track meet that will cause him to miss most Friday’s classes and not arrive home until about 2:00 am Saturday, with a turn-around track meet on Saturday. The Follies performances are on Saturday and Sunday. Even if he WANTED to do homework, I don’t know when it will happen! If he gets any kind of a good score on the APs he is taking, it will be strictly due to miraculous intervention. Oh yeah, and one of those APs is during his senior exams, so those will have to be rescheduled. Another is on the “reschedule day” for senior exams and is also the day of prom! I said “Yikes, you might be at school until 2:00 or 3:00 on prom day and you have to pick up your date around 5:00!” He said it was lucky he was a guy, since he would only have to shower, shave and get dressed. True that!

We’ve still got 9 weeks of school left if I counted correctly. But of course AP exams are on the same day for all so I guess some will be next week. I confess to not knowing the dates or what DS is doing to prep. I assume he will do fine, since he has thus far and the school rarely has students scoring below a 4 on any subject. Maybe I have senioritis??

Wow–9 weeks? D14 will be done with finals in 4 weeks, then graduates in 5 weeks from HS. She will be doing finals for her college classes in 6 weeks, but 3 of her 4 college classes are project based, so no real exams except in one.

Hearing about all of the stress related to the AP exams is making me very glad my girls are DE, not AP

We’re off the U.S.S. Indecision…Cornell it is! Very happy mom here, because this means D14 will be less than an hour from home. Plus it’s a great school .

Congrats @mdcmom! And hope a decision comes soon @2018dad!

DD is on vacation this week but is working on a few more scholarship applications today. And she’s got a big AP English paper due the end of next week which is tech week for her school musical so she’s hoping to get some done over vacation. But we head to Brown this afternoon for ASD and she’s there for the next two nights so I’m not sure how much time or energy she’ll have after that!

As far as time left, last classes are May 15th and with 5 AP tests to take before then, she doesn’t have many more days of school left! She won’t have to take finals because of her AP tests so she’s done the 15th! I can’t believe it’s so close to the end!

I’m hoping we’ll be disembarking this week because if we don’t, we’ll probably be on till the end! With no time to visit other ports of call!

Oops, miscounted. Eight weeks left for seniors (graduation is June 21) and 8.5 for everyone else (last day of school is June 25 for all but seniors because of snow make up days).

@mdcmom - Congrats on the Cornell decision!

D is on spring break this week then 2 weeks of class, AP exams, and seniors are done with class on May 15th. They spend the next 10 days on their Genesis project which includes 40 plus hours of shadowing in their chosen career profession. D will spend time with both our regular dentist and her orthodontist. They then submit and present their summary project reports and they are done. Grandparents from Australia arrive late on the 24th for her graduation on the 29th. Her grad party follows on June 7th and our graduation cruise trip with grandparents is on June 19th. I get to relax with no bridge or helmsmanship duties on that cruise. I just get to keep the bartenders busy!

I decided not to worry about AP exams - S will probably retake the courses in college anyway. I know they do a lot of review in school so he should be fine. Last day of classes is May 16. The last two weeks in May he will be doing a Senior Transitiion Projrct.- students arrange their own Project- S will be shadowing a Neurologist and observing in a lab. The First week in June the Seniors have to go back to school and do a presentation about what they did. Graduatiion is June 8.

I am so ready to move on- I booked our room for Orientation in June. My son will stay on campus. We had the option to stay on campus but decided to stay in Burlington. Additionally, I booked our room for family weekend in October. This year it is Columbus Day weekend ! A big weekend in Vermont! I am so happy S chose Burlington over Allentown.

Prom is a week from Saturday ! We ordered the tux yesterday ! Boy it was expensive! I was going to invite myself over to S’s prom dates house ( former GF) for pictures but I just found out she is picking him up! Lol …times have changed ! I also wanted him to get her flowers but he said oh I don’t think she wants any!..Really.? Geez…it is her prom so it is what ever she wants… I said make sure you find out for sure, I would hate for him to make that mistake!
