@W2BeHome I am very sorry for the loss of someone clearly very important in your life and the lives of your children. I will remember you in my prayers.

D was accepted today to the state flagship and received an Honors Program invite at super-safety school. :)

Wonderful news, @suzy100 and &irishmomof2. Congratulations! :)

Peace be with your daughters you, and your family @W2BeHome .

BHG declared war on any talk pertaining to college or university ,which are now cuss words in our home. The next 10 to 15 days I plan to order out, vegetate on Hulu, and lock myself in my bedroom. BHDad and I are on a 3 on 3 off rotational schedule until the last early action notification hits the inbox and/or mailbox. 8-} Talk about fouling the nest early–sheesh.

Have any of you noticed that the BB&B coupons now state 20% off by X date or 10% off there after? I am so glad I have several 20% off whole order coupons saved to use on clearance items.

Congratulations @Suzy100 & @IrishMomof2 !

Congrats @irishmomof2 and @suzy100!

D keeps on coming home with news of various friends hearing back on one of their EA apps. If I’d realized, I would have had her apply to an EA school where they get back to you in early December instead of January!

As it is, she’ll be finishing up all her remaining apps over winter break (unless she gets accepted to her ED school) and she won’t hear back from the EA school till Jan 1. So we’re not really getting the benefit of having that EA acceptance making it less stressful to get the essays done. Poor planning on Mom’s part!

Great news, suzy and IrishMomof2!

Question: D has applied to a few very selective schools ( non Ivy) and should hear from them in January. She is currently ( within the past week) getting emails from these schools ie 7 reasons why XX is the right school for you, emails from admissions explaining financial aid and scholarships, scholarship time lines as to when to check your portal etc…I truly believe that at this point in time they have her decision given that she applied in Sept- although decisions for these particular schools don’t come out until January. Are these emails some kind of a sick joke? Do these schools routinely send emails like this to kids that they are rejecting? That is just cruel. :-<

@twogirls- I don’t know about all schools, but my oldest D got a nice Christmas card from the admissions counselor at one school, only to be rejected 3 days later, on Christmas Eve. Talk about depressing…

Illinoismom4 that is awful!!! Why do schools do that? Why send a card to somebody they know they are rejecting?

The recruiting materials aren’t generated by the same people who make the admissions decisions. Many of those mailings are outsourced to advertising offices.

Ah yes that makes sense petrichor11. Would that be the case even when the email address was from admissions at that particular school and it was personalized? Such games these schools play I really can’t take it. I think it’s incredibly mean. >:P
