Parents of the HS Class of 2015

It’s AP French day, and the smart alack in me wanted to roll out the Talking Heads this morning. But, instead, I give you the Belgian rapper/singer/songwriter, Stromae, who is probably one of the world’s most interesting and influential pop artists right now. Enjoy!

The only exception to AP exams on the same days across the world is when a student is sick - there are make-up days available in the next few weeks. Or if there is some kind of accommodation, religious or medical.

And they already have the 2016 schedule out, so students should check out the schedule for their tests. It is also possible that there are tests at the same exact time for some students (Chemistry and Environmental Science were at the same time on Monday), and then they would have to take one later.

Used to be that accommodations for being sick were on a student by student basis, and you could make them up any time up to seven days from the original test date. I managed to get sick on the day of one of my AP exams, and barely was able to take it on the seventh day because I was so sick. Still had a fever but they would not allow any more extension. I think now, if you can’t make the make-up dates, you are sunk.

@SomeOldGuy - I have to raise you a Pentatonix on this one. I think this group improves on the original!

At kiddo’s school, today they are having an AP Bio vs. AP Physics frisbee match b/c both classes took their tests yesterday and they meet during the same period.

The end of our AP saga is in sight. Only one class remains to be tested. Unfortunately thats Econ, and they have 2 tests on different days (Thursday afternoon and Friday AM). School doesn’t require finals if you took the AP tests, so kiddo is free at noon on Friday and the next week before graduation is all picnics and pre-graduation celebrations. And hopefully a little preparation for National Debate tournament before she heads there Memorial Day weekend.

AP exams apparently can have different dates internationally. My nephew in India is starting his exams week after next.

They also accommodate different schedules for students in the same school taking both IB and AP exams which can conflict. So our local school creates a separate schedule for IB students where they follow the IB dates for the IB exams and rearrange the AP exams to different dates. My daughter took her Physics exam 2 weeks after everyone else a few years ago on version C of the test.

LOL, @SomeOldGuy ! That son did get “Most Likely to Finish a Race Without His Race Number” at the last XC banquet

Hey everybody. I’m mostly done with school now, a couple things I need to finish up still remain, but no AP exams thankfully. My sister is taking the AP Stats exam tomorrow.

The weather is not working out for my flying. It’s either been too windy, rainy, or both. Here’s hoping for Friday…

Jumping on waaaay up-thread just to say that I’ve been away since before April 30. DH was diagnosed with something not good and has been undergoing surgery/treatment for the past couple of weeks. I’ve been getting messages from some of you that feed to my home email via CC, so thank you for checking in. I really appreciate it. I’ll be back on when Life (hopefully) calms down. When last I left, we were all still on the ship, and I’m sure I was the last passenger off in the end. Unfortunately, I missed the Fruity Drinks & celebrations, but our little crew has been in my thoughts even amidst everything else going on.

I’ll post on DS’s college decision later. Can’t 100% say that I would have made the same choice in his shoes, but he made the choice that he felt best about and I’m glad for him. Honestly, it was barely a blip on the radar given what else we were dealing with.

@mom24boys, I had been meaning to post a note of support for you, before everything came down around us here, but you, your DH and your family have been on my mind and in my prayers. I don’t know if you’ve posted an update, but I’ll catch up at some point to see.

Here’s to better days ahead.

And likewise for you. You and the family will be in my thoughts.

GoAskDad you are in my prayers as well.

Tomorrow is AP Lang and then next week she has finals for two classes she takes through a college, and then she is basically done. Graduation is at the end of June. And of course, there is prom. June is a busy month!

@GoAskDad - hugs and prayers. Message me if I can help with anything…

Tomorrow is wrestler’s last AP. Essentially, school is over!

We attended Senior Awards Night tonight. Wrestler was honored by Wendy’s for the High School Heisman and received the Scholar-Athlete Award from the State High School League.

@GoAskDad I am sorry we have more in common then graduated seniors. We are awaiting confirmation of diagnosis next week. You and your family are in my prayers.

Thinking of both of you this evening, @GoAskDad and @Mom24boys.

@GoAskDad I am so sorry. Sending hugs and positive thoughts your way.

@GoAskDad, sending good thoughts for you and your family, better days are coming!

@GoAskDad and @Mom24boys, here’s to better days ahead and soon. My thoughts are with both of you.

@GoAskDad and @Mom24boys thinking of you both and wishing you strength as you tackle these health challenges.

Prayers here too, @GoAskDad and @Mom24boys.

I guess we are the first. DS is now a 2015 High School graduate. Ceremony was this evening and Mom didn’t embarrass said son too much with tears. OK, the hugs might have been a tiny bit embarrassing but he’ll live.

Wow, so sorry you’re having to deal with this @GoAskDad and @Mom24boys at what should be a joyful time. I wish the best outcome for your families.

All my support to you, @GoAskDad and @Mom24boys, you and your families are both in my thoughts.
