Parents of the HS Class of 2016 (Part 1)

Final band concert tomorrow. Too soon.

D16 is so ready to move on from high school. Just finals and graduation/seniors events left. Then, on to all the home maintenance projects I have prepared for her. (Then the summer job.)

Whew! It has been a crazy day! 8-}

While DS was on his way home from his final state academic competition (which in itself was another emotional ‘last’) we got the email that he is officially the Valedictorian!

But, on top of being out of town for 2 1/2 days + 2 finals projects due tomorrow- they requested he have his speech ready to be reviewed by a teacher at 10:00 tomorrow morning!
Well, he has my permission to get his work done first & if he has time- start working on a speech (graduation isn’t until 6/3!)
I just think that is not a reasonable request! geez- taking the fun out of the celebration! <:-P

@bookmom7 Congrats! That’s a super quick turnaround! Our Val and Sal had about a month to get the rough drafts of their speeches in

Congrats @bookmom7 . Our Val and Sal were selected at the end of the first semester so they’ve had time to work on and practice their speeches . Thousandths of a point separated rank 2-4 at our school this year, DS16 was ranked 4th out of 452. I understand how you feel watching his last academic competition. I watched DS16 compete in his last one several weeks ago. While it was bittersweet, I had the opportunity to watch him pass the torch to DS19. It was an awesome experience to watch both of my son’s compete and see the growth that only a year can make.

Humble brag alert. DS16 had his first graduation practice today and final report cards were distributed. I’ll be honest , when he asked to register for 5 AP classes his Senior Year, I was concerned about the work load. The most he had taken before was 2 at once. I am so proud of him. He received a 90 in AP Physics 1, 93 in AP Calc BC, 96 in AP Econ, 97 in AP English Lit, 98 in AP Gov and 99 in Spanish III. No senioritis here. We’re winding down. He’s had no classes since Fri. He has practice tomorrow evening and graduates one week from tomorrow .

your DS did a great job @carolinamom2boys!

Thanks @bookmom7

Congrats @bookmom7 ! we have so many tippy top students in this group! And WTG @carolinamom2boys S!

So many last coming up for all of us. One D’s last internship days is tomorrow, so she’s getting her nails done this afternoon for Friday’s prom, which is of course, a last. It’s also senior award night. Next week are more lasts and by noon on the 9th, they’re done save for grad practice on the morning of the 10th.

Thx @sseamom . Get out the tissues .

There is such a range of finish dates in the group. We were done a week ago so this has been a week of forward motion. S finished online homework, placement tests, and chose his dorm room. Course registration is in 2 weeks. All that’s left is the fun stuff- gathering things for the room.

You are right @psychmomma - such a variety. It would be nice to have a little break but, our kiddos have finals Tues- Thurs.- which is the last day & then graduate on Friday. It is a mad rush to the end!

We have been done with school since the 4th of May. Graduation was two weeks ago. Senior trip was a success. It’s so hard to imagine still having a month left to go. We do start school in early August. No is the big push to get 10 forms in for college by June first.

@bookmom7 that great news! Congrats to your son!!

Thanks @livinginLA - he had a goal & worked very hard for it. Proud of him- as we all should be of our DC! (well, not you yet @readingclaygirl  )

@bookmom7  I am proud of myself though and my family is quite proud. We still have 4 weeks until graduation

@readingclaygirl - hope you knew that I meant that you are not yet a parent - because- you do have lots to be proud of!

Oh okay @bookmom7 I was slightly confused and thank you

Such impressive scores @carolinamom2boys! Congratulations!!!

Thank you @Reckless . I’m very proud of him.
