@kandcsmom and @arisamp I am right there with you on the packing! I am trying to say nothing. We have set a firm departure time for Friday and he has a list of what needs done. I do have wine in the house.
@arisamp - I was recently in costco and found a whole bunch of 30 inch unsold designer shorts.
Congrats to all of your with such great AP results! We didnât have AP at our HS so it never came up. One of the drawbacks of a very small, niche HS, I guess.
Drinks all around for those of you with kiddos still packing as the move-in looms. D finished packing a day ahead but then re-packed at least one of her tote a ton bags and rearranged several of the space bags in other luggage. But we made it.
D is on her 2nd day of class and just learned that in addition to the required (expensive) math access code, the teacher suggests the companion text book-which is on Amazon for $5. The teacher is using a previous addition to save the kid money. Go prof!
After speaking with 5 people, I believe the scholarship and financial aid conversations have been completed. My older two always had bills that matched up with the schoolâs (and my) calculations. Sâs account was ready for viewing yesterday but things were missing (not credited yet). The people I spoke with were all very friendly and helpful, a small thing, but it does go into your impression of a large school. We leave at 8am, Thursday morning. We need to finish packing today because tomorrow I will need to hug S all day long.
All packed for tomorrow. The view of the empty hangers in DDâs closet is depressing.
@Ballerina016 :x Big hugs to you! We are going to do a test pack again this evening. My sweet girl said she only needs two duffel bags of clothes, shoes and a few coats. We can take her winter coat and boots when we trade there in October.

@texaspg - bought 3 pair of those 30 inch Calvin Klein shorts ;))
Okay- just finished getting legal work finalized (HIPPA, Medical POA & Directives) & putting together a file. whewâŠ
But, is anyone sending passports, birth certificates & SS cards with their kiddos???
Oh, and DS & I were talking about a plan for contact & out of nowhere tears just started leaking from my eyes. :((
@bookmom7 We are taking those items with us for identification to open her bank account. We obtained a medical and dental insurance card for her to carry with her. We will bring the birth certificate, SSN card and passport back home with us. God forbid she loose them or someone steal them.
@bookmom7 - we will probably send passport since D has no other ID. Older D went through 4 years of college never needing the other 2. She would call occasionally asking for SS number to fill out forms.
We need a group hug!! :((
Iâm not gonna cry!!! I wonât do it no I wonât do itâŠto late!!
Thank you @HappyFace2018
I am sending ss card. Her passport expired and she just got our state ID that will work for flying in US. I did not want to send ss card, but she needs to have original for internships or employment. Is it a difficult to have it reinstated if she loses it?
Iâll take my permit because itâs my only form of ID. I donât think Iâll take my SS card, I can always call my parents if I need the number. @Ballerina016 I donât know but I know we had to get copies of our birth certificates a few years back because my father somehow lost them.
Both older kids needed ss card and certified copy of birth certificate for school employment.
I am very protective of our soc sec cards, they are not carried in our wallets, they are locked up unless they are needed for new employment paperwork.
I did not send one with D so far, passport is also kept safely at home because itâs expensive to replace.
She has only needed her drivers license and student ID.
She worked at home over the summer. If she would need it for a job at school she would probably bring it and have to keep it in a safe place there.
I was planning to send Dâs ss card with her since she does plan to get a job. I am nervous about it but I think its required. We talked about how she doesnât need to carry it with her all the time. I think she will have a small wallet that she keeps in the back of a drawer with less used items that she still needs to have. I also was planning to send her medical card with her and told her to keep it in the same place.
@me29034, I think the medical card should be carried with her though.
Thank you @mommdc
I am trying to decide what is less risky: to send it with her or overnight it to her when she needs it?
We sent D with her medical card and her state ID. She does not have her passport with her, nor her SS card. She has her number memorized anyway, and will not be getting a job at least this semester.
The SS card is annnoying to replace, but not too difficult if you live in a city with a SS office. My son had to replace his twice in a fairly short time because he had his with him for job hunting and WASHED it-twice-and destroyed it both times. Check those pockets, people! I gave him a pass the first time, but the second time I wanted to smack him, because he washed his birth certificate too, and that was from OOS so THAT was a whole new level of hassle.
