@madredos Definitely. I think it’s hitting us that we will be apart. Like I said before we are getting on each other’s nerves but deep down I’m going to miss seeing her everyday. Do your girls feel the same?
@readingclaygirl - Yes. My two are very close. We are hoping to arrange for each of them to visit each other once a semester. They def keep in better touch with each other than they do with us when they travel. Beware that as soon as my UNC kid hopped on the plane today, her sister was in her room “shopping”. Since YOU are the one leaving. Lol.
@madredos Yeah that won’t happen! My sister is 4 inches shorter and we have very different styles
Congrats to your boy @carolinamom2boys! That email came here today as well. Forwarded it to my D, but I don’t know that she’s checked yet. She has started the countdown…10 days!
@carolinamom2boys -S got the email today, too (AP Scholar with Distinction). He has about a year of credits, but his program has so many classes that have to be taken in sequence I’m not sure he can graduate a year early (which he thinks he would like). It is a nice certificate, but yeah, after the fact.
My S also got an email from College Board today.
Congrats everyone . DS16 may be declining several of those credits , but not all.
@labegg for BBB sign up online on their website. They email me a 20% off coupon seemingly every week plus they send them in the mail all the time. You can even use multiple 20% coupons on an online order!
DS packed some things!! I will take whatever progress I can get right now. Not willing to shout about it, yet.
DS19 starts back to school today, and I feel totally unprepared as I’ve been focusing so much on older brother . It was weird to just write one check for lunch. I guess I’ll be purchasing HS supplies tonight since my efforts have been on dorm mountain over the past few weeks.
A little one on one time with DS19 will be good for both of you. Savor it.
DD20 starts tomorrow but we had a HS event tonight and have another Wednesday. I just left a text for DS to read asking if I should make one of his favorite meals tonight or Thursday. I will be surprised if he is home for dinner both nights.
Michael’s, the craft/art and decor store, is having a massive sale today (Aug. 16th) between 3 and 7 p.m. Maybe in your area too? Think dorms: decor tape, scapbook paper, care package stuff, ribbons, class supplies, bling, chalkboards, frames, dry erase markers, storage boxes, wall and door stuff, organizers, etc. I noticed a lot more decor items there recently. Just sayin’
@carolinamom2boys – it’s awesome to have those credits! My IB kids both got credits, and it allowed D09 to minor in a completely unrelated field (major = enviro sci; minor = photography) plus take a semester abroad. S16’s first major/minor combo is Int’l biz/Spanish; I expect the credits will add flexibility to his schedule, too, and hopefully keep his course loads lighter in the spring semesters (he plays baseball).
It’s wise to think carefully about where to enter the course series – great job by your son there! Especially math & science, since they can be very specific in their sequencing at the school. All of those credits will certainly catch the attention of his profs, and I’ll bet he gets a ton of research/internship offers as a result!
Well done, all students with credits coming into college!!
Thanks @auntiek
@4kids2graduate S19 is a 29/32 and still growing. I get his pants at American Eagle. they also have longer length cardo shorts
So we move in 25 hours. D16 is taking her boyfriend to breakfast, today and working tonight until 10. She is not fully packed. Remember when we were all on the SS Indecision and someone was making drinks? I could use that person’s assistance tonight.
My son was in 28/30 Old Navy jeans freshman year of HS. Last year he needed a 32 length. Was able to get 29/32 at American Eagle and he also likes their 12" length cargo shorts and we bought several size S tshirts on sale the other day.
I am glad that D moves in before school starts here. I plan on doing something special with my younger kids before they go back.
I don’t know if my D ever got that email but the certificate arrived in September I think.
She is able to use almost all of her 19 AP credits towards pharmacy prerequisites or electives. It has enabled her to take a lighter credit load in the first year which helps because she has to take a lot of science classes with labs.
For anyone who uses Dailies Aqua Comfort contacts, they have a $50 rebate on 4 boxes and $120 on 8 boxes until August 31.
Another perk of AP credits, D gets to register earlier because of advanced class standing.
Thanks for all the suggestions on where to shop for those hard to fit tall, skinny boys! Tonight we plan to tackle pants shopping with a list of great store options! If unsuccessful, I have great online options as well thanks to all of you!
S was notified by College Board that he is a National AP Scholar. He is SO happy with his college choice, but sadly it is the one college he applied to that gives no AP credits, so advanced standing, etc. :(( Regardless, it is still a great accomplishment and recognition of how hard he worked in high school! At least his high school will reimburse us for the testing fees for the 4 AP exams he took this year…yeah for that! He can apply that refund toward his book costs first semester!
@4kids2graduate - those pants are so hard to find! S needs a 34 length, but until recently only needed a 30 or 32 waist and it was so hard. He found a suit jacket that fit him well at Van Heusen, but of course, no pants. Turns out you can order the one online and they will ship it to you for free! So, we ended up doing that. Other than that, I’ve often had good luck at Gap - he likes their slim fit pants and if I find one in his size, I just automatically pick it up!
S didn’t mention anything about email from college board - will have to ask tonight.
We are planning on heading down either Friday or Saturday. And he is working all day Tues, Wed and Thursday. I’ll pack on Friday mom - don’t worry!
