@Waiting2exhale and @EastGrad What I meant was that between my 3 kids, I have had a child in our school district since 1995 - hence 20 years of Back to School nights. I probably attended more than 20 when I had kids in different schools within the district. My son played township soccer until a year ago - that was also a mark in time because between him and his sisters, we had at least one kid playing soccer from 1995 through the fall of 2013. My DS also runs cross country and track and decided to stop soccer after his sophomore year.
Finished parent-teacher conference today. I think today is the last conference for my D16. There will be another one next March and I doubt to go that one.
For those with gifted kids who might be twice exceptional, there is a lot of good information on the site of the National Association for Gifted Children. Here is a link to their white paper on twice exceptional.

Since I complained enough, had to share that the SAT scores have finally arrived. Frankly, I donāt think they ever sent the Oct scores. The Nov scores went out and voila, the scores are all there now. One more app and we are done. Hopefully they will send the Subject scores as those are the only ones outstanding for that App.
thanks for all the input on the issue of 2E kids. I am going to have to have a long talk with my DD before she starts college to see how willing she will be to seek some accomodations when needed in college. One interesting thing I have learned in talking to people about dyslexia is that fairly high number of the engineers and dentists I know have it! I guess maybe they have compensatory visual spatial skills?
@petrichor11 your story about your daughter wandering off sounds very much like my daughter at about that same age. We searched for more than an hour for her. When we finally found my daughter and I yelled at her and told her how worried everyone was she responded well I donāt know why you were worried, I knew where I was!
@CAMidwestMom So happy to know that the scores issue is finally more or less resolved for you.
@PAO2008 thanks to the link for that paper on 2E
CONGRADS to all that have received good news and chicken soup for those not feeling great.
DS received notice today that he has been accepted to the honors college at one of the schools high on his list! He is not yet ready to make a final decision but was excited about the acceptance as it makes that school a VERY strong contender.
Congrats @Cheeringsection . Always nice to be accepted. Still waiting here for DS16 first choice Honors acceptance.
Congratulations on all the acceptances!!! All of these last just keep on coming. I feel as if the year is slipping thru my fingers. Happy Thanksgiving to all of you - I am afraid I will get busy and forget to tell you. We definitely have a lot to be thankful for in our kids.
Happy Thanksgiving to all! Enjoy your DC at home this year. Next year will be different in more ways than we can even imagine right now.
S has a throat/ear infection and is on amoxycillin. Hopefully heāll be up and around (and ready to field the inevitable college questions) by Thursday.
Congrats and Happy Thanksgiving.
Also - for anyone who has applied to U of MN note that the housing application is open now. (Priority is based on when you sign up for housing)
Great news Cheeringsection Congrats and Congrats to everyone receiving great news!
D got an acceptance today-from the college that had been missing an ACT score sent a month ago-allegedly. Now she can apply to the honors college. We mailed the honors app for another school today (you have to be accepted to the college before applying to honors) and her first choice app is in. She got an email today that another college has all materials and a decision will be out next week. Now onto the two without portals so we will need to call or email to find out if they have everything. Thank goodness I made a spreadsheet, because even with it I can barely keep track.
Congrats to your daughter @sseamom .
Congrats @sseamom!
Thanks to all!
Anyone going far away for Thanksgiving and not pleased about being away from your mailbox?
Weāll be spending a nice , quiet, relaxing holiday pet sitting for neighbors. Not expecting any more college mail until
December. Evidently , Iām spending way too much time on this sight. Iāve just been promoted Sr. Member ( whatever that means)
Congrats to all with recent acceptances.
And Happy Thanksgiving to everyone!
Does Senior Member mean 1000 posts, perhaps?
Weāre hosting a small group here, but I hear you about the mail box! Our area has the mailboxes lined up on the street and the stand for ours and 3 others is right outside my house, so if Iām home, I hear the mail truck and go running out after he leaves. Iām not allowed to open anything for D though, so if itās a school day I bring it with me and make her open it in the car on the way home. Not that she mindsā¦
