Parents of the HS Class of 2016 (Part 1)

@bookmom7 @kittymom1102 thank you! I also couldn’t find the application on the site, but I suppose the letter will have some way to log in and get it. I seem to remember a HS friend of mine getting the Presidential honor, now that I think of it, in the late 1980s. I was so jealous of exactly one thing: her mother let her have a strapless dress for the formal portion, and I would not have been allowed to wear those (had I ever gotten the honor).

I just noticed my reply on a wrong thread. I cannot delete it. T.T

I feel so bad.

@GoodGrief16 Believe me, living here is nothing like vacationing here

@fretfulmother - here is a link where you can look at the application. The Candidate Essay is a little different!

@bookmom7 thank you!

No problem.
Letters were sent on on the 21st. When they arrive, I am sure there will be complete directions on how to apply, etc.

S has a friend who received his USC acceptance letter today. So they have been mailed.

Congratulations to @bookmom7 @fretfulmother @GoodGrief16 and anyone I could have missed with kids on Presidential scholarship list. What a huge honor!

By the way, I meant to specify that my D got nominated 4 years ago. She’s now a senior at Olin College. Thanks for the congratulations, though!

My S and I are away from home, and my daughter texted me that there’s a box from USC waiting for my son!!! She says it was too big to fit in the mailbox!! Haven’t breathed a word to him!! Wish we could teleport home!!

Eek! How exciting @happymochi ! When do you get home?

Thrilled for you and your son @happymochi … Keep us posted!

I’m too excited and it’s not even my son @happymochi. Hopefully you can get home soon.

@happymochi - Wow! That’s very exciting! How far are you from home? I’d do a terrible job of keeping that sort of a secret - good luck, and congratulations to your son!

Congratulations @happymochi That is huge!

Fingers crossed @happymochi what else can it be?

I was confused for a minute thinking everyone was a semi-finalist for the Presidential Scholarship for Georgia Tech which also was released today  My son is in that group but not the DC one. He was planning not to continue on with anything like scholarships or visits except from the schools he is strongly considering but since the Pres at GT is all interviews and no more essays he decided it would be fun to see where it takes him.

@rayrick Olin impressed us and our S16…has your D had a good experience there?

Congratulations to the ones who know that they’ve been accepted to USC!!!

No mail delivery here today, which has D16 a bit cranky, despite understanding well that 2+ feet of snow and still a little falling made that impossible, and besides several local colleges were hitting she and her school friends with emails urging them to use their time during the snowstorm to consider tossing an application their way, lol.

Congrats on the USC acceptances and Presidential Scholarship notifications of any and all kinds!!
