Parents of the HS Class of 2016 (Part 1)

Thanks @carolinamom2boys !

@petrichor11 I am so sorry about your son’s deferral. It is so hard to see these kids like this. I think it’s time for some haberdashery therapy . I hope he gets some great news soon.

@ChicagoSportsFn Love your comment ā€œfaint of walletā€! I recently purchased a larger wallet…now I see why. I will have two kids in college at the same time fall of 2016.

Maybe I should have purchased a smaller wallet since there will be very little left to carry inside of it!

Thanks, everyone. Haberdashery therapy will have to wait until Sunday, I think. He has another competition this weekend and a paying gig on Sunday. At the rate he’s going I half expect him to say the heck with college and take up travelling the RenFaire circuit.
Okay, so…seriously, thank all the Gods in all the heavens for Boston College. They’re looking mighty attractive right now. Hope their financial aid continues that impression when it comes in.

Sorry I’m not very familiar with CSS profile. From what I hear on CC I think you have to later confirm the sibling being in college and the actual cost? Since you don’t know for sure at this point, make an estimate? Can you call D14’s school and ask?

@GoodGrief16 I’m having D email the application and highlighting in yellow the parts that specifically state due dates. There isn’t much else I can do. I would rather mail it, but D will never finish it on time. After that, I keep my fingers crossed. Its not a school that’s high on her list, but its on her list and she didn’t apply to anywhere that she wasn’t willing to go. I keep telling her we have to keep our options open.

It seems like ice-cream or other desert of choice is in order. Sorry you had to deal with mean people @MuggleMom and @RyanG1207

Hugs to your son @petrichor11

Good luck @readingclaygirl

Here’s hoping the financial aide fairies visit everyone’s house tonight and leaves so much under dear children’s pillows that they have to sleep sitting up. :))

Thank you @Ballerina016 What’s haberdashery therapy? @petrichor11

@petrichor11 - I went to BC for my Ed degree and it was wonderful. People were so kind and welcoming on campus, and of course it looks beautiful with the stone and the greenery. The courses were serious but approachable. Good luck!

So sorry to hear about the deferral @petrichor11 !

I always try to remember that mean people are made, not born and hope that they will see the error of their ways but I avoid them until I have some proof!

Don’t be stressed @readingclaygirl . You will do just fine. You are prepared.

Good luck with the scholarship @MuggleMom…

So do you think I can work on our taxes in the car between games at a tournament this weekend? I really want to get them done! I have nearly all the data. I have it organized. I just need to punch it all in.

Good luck to all still waiting for news.

Got that beat, three next year!

@9241libom My sister had twin girls and a son 2 years apart in OOS schools at once. It’s crazy expensive.

@readingclaygirl haberdashery is male clothing. It’s the male version of retail therapy.

Thanks @Cheeringsection Oh haha! @carolinamom2boys thanks for that clarification

@readingclaygirl - I’m going to be the stern mom on this thread and will admonish you to either study or get to bed! This thread will still be here tomorrow after your exam!

And best of luck to you too, readingclaygirl!

Good luck @readingclaygirl!

@me29034 We are facing the same issue. Housing priority goes by deposit date. My son is 99% decided but he’s in the running for a full scholarship to another great school. I don’t think he will change his mind and we have saved the money for him anyway but he could have that money as a massive down payment for a house or towards starting a business, etc. He had already completely decided he wasn’t going to the other school until this. I think for the deposit he has to withdraw other apps which is as it should be but hmmmm.

My son seemed sure of where he was going and then he got a full tuition scholarship from his second choice. Now it is his first choice and we are waiting to hear from two other schools about scholarships. I’m not sure if they will impact his decision, but we are patiently waiting.
