Parents of the HS Class of 2016 (Part 1)

@labegg I just realized we will be at Duquesne for the same Science Preview Day! We had visited previously, she really like the head of the Environmental Science Dept & they offered her a spot in their Honors College along with some nice merit aid. So we are going back to see where on the list it falls.

Thanks

@kat2013 - It is a small world! I had hoped D16 would be able to make a decision without a return visit. She was had walked away from her first visit with Duquesne on the top of her list this summer, but she seems to be waivering at the moment.

@labegg it is hard! Too much being thrown at them. Hopefully the weather is good!

I go to bed early too and filled out my roommate survey accordingly.

For those of you whose kids applied or were accepted to Northeastern, did you get an email from an AO telling your kid that they have read their application and gave some words of encouragement?
Is this a sign or a spam email to all applicants?

@Mysonsdad My son was deferred, but some people did get a phone call encouraging them shortly before the official results came out.

A friend of mine was talking about that email today @Mysonsdad She applied but hasn’t heard yet.

@Mysonsdad My son got the email today.

@Mysonsdad As far as I know, S did not hear anything until decisions were released. However, he is not the best at keeping track of his emails.

At this time in the game, I think it means something good. Fingers crossed

At this point, S has NEU as his top destination. It is a perfect financial fit for us, a great program for him, and a great city for all of us to visit/live.

At least 2 versions if the Northeastern letter went out. Seems to be totally based on stats. Every kid we know of was a 4.0 unweighted but the 2300+ seemed to get a nicer letter.

All all of you talking about this NEU letter RD applicants? Just curious. S was deferred and hasn’t received anything that I know of. @Mysonsdad @MuggleMom

@Mysonsdad My son was accepted EA to NEU and did not receive the recent email so I don’t think it’s spam. I’d take it as a good sign.

My son received an early birthday surprise today (b-day is tomorrow) and was accepted to Univ of Michigan COE after being deferred in the EA round. Really didn’t expect this as the deferral letter said he would receive his decision in April.

@CAMidwestMom its just a form letter telling the student that they were fortunate/thankful to see the application and offer some words of encouragement, some very nice adjectives and then best of luck, yadda, yadda. All the kids I know that got it were RD applicants.

CONGRADS to your DS @collegemom2boys !

Congrats @collegemom2boys <:-P

Great birthday present @collegemom2boys ! Congrats!!

Congratulations @collegemom2boys and to those with good news on NEU @Mysonsdad @MuggleMom and anyone else I missed!
