@STEM2017 Ours was to increase grant aid already had max for FASA so that may be why 2015.
Also ED admit filing appeal before 2016 filed as we were told 2015 used this year.
School also requires CSS Profile so I think they use that for Grant aid. May contract school about submitting 2016. Thanks for your post
Northeastern decisions are out for anyone waiting
Son got into Northeastern after being deferred, so that’s good. Got offered NU IN, which is not great, but son doesn’t seem to mind the concept of studying in London,Australia,Canada for the first semester. He’s happy he got in, but I doubt he’ll end up going there. We’ll see. It will probably be one of the most expensive options he’ll have and I wouldn’t say he was “in love” with the school. But he’s in.
All diversity admits at Cornell?
Thought of the day: I was feeling somewhat bad that D didn’t get into her reach, but then I realized her denial is an indication that she reached high enough. If she got into every school to which she applied, she would be like “dangit, I should have set my sights higher.” Hope this helps other who are feeling down about denials. And if it doesn’t, well, there’s always pie…
@NolaCAR I agree with this. My daughter so far has a nice mix of acceptances, a few waitlists, and two denials. If she’d gotten in everywhere she’d applied I would have thought we played it too safe. Shocked by a few of the waitlists, and honestly by some of the acceptances too, but I’m glad we had a balanced list.
DC admitted to Wash U! Congrats on all the admits to MIT. Dolemite our kids have the same list! (Except MIT)
@RightCoaster Congrats for the NE admit, I like the sound of a semester abroad right at the start. I tried to get my son interested in UVA’s new London first program. Even if he he doesn’t attend it is still a yes!
D got into Wash U!
@RightCoaster I’d have mixed feelings about that. While I wouldn’t mind the studying abroad aspect, the bonding with other kids freshman semester aspect is lost and depending on the kid that might concern me. Still, I am thrilled that RD came through and hope his friends (weren’t several deferred as well?) also got good news.
@mamaedefamilia and @linsweet Congratulations!!!
Congratulations @RightCoaster @mamaedefamilia @linsweet ! <:-P <:-P <:-P
Thanks for the well wishes !!
I have some mixed feelings about it too, but the campus is constantly changing with the ins and outs of the co-op program. He might meet some kids in his overseas group though to bind with and then integrate into campus afterwards. He has no problem with it. He’s been bugging me to take him overseas all year, and he has an older friend who is studying at Oxford full time. So he’d probably love going to England.
He had 3 friends that were deferred with him, and 2 of them got the same result, I don’'t know about the other one. But they all seem content. I guess it beats a rejection!! :).
It’s a very good school and well regarded around here. We’ll have to see what else transpires over the next few days, but at least today wasn’t filled with despair.
****Congrats on Wash U admits!!! fabulous news.
Case pushed back their decision release to Friday 3/17 8PM. [-( :!!
CWRU thread is full of
“wai u do dis” :-q [-X
So D has her first denial - Wash U. It’s not at all a surprise given she expressed absolutely no interest, didn’t apply for a scholarship and applied at the literal 11th hour! It still stings a little, though. I think we will still go out for dinner like we have for all her acceptances so far. Why not, right?
Congrats to all that got in!!
Congrats on all of the good news with MIT, Wash U, UMass, NEU, U Richmond <:-P <:-P <:-P
Welcome @cloudysmom!!
I am with @BigPapiofthree as we approach this very busy time I am thinking about all of you and have my fingers and toes crossed for your DC. They are all AMAZING and any school would be lucky to have them!!! Hang in there everyone [-O<
@payn4ward the horror!!!
Hugs @nocturne21 =((
Definitely! We should celebrate hard work not the outcomes! =D>
It makes sense to have celebration before the decisions to come out. >:D<
I made arrangements to go to NEU Honors day on Sunday. It is going to be snowing. [-(
Even if we cancel the trip, as DS does not feel like it, we can use Southwest flight credits to future trips. We shall see. ~X(
I agree @RightCoaster. With co-op students coming and going, I don’t think first semester abroad would be a big disruption. I suppose the cost is the biggest issue here.
@nocturne21 definitely go out to eat!! She’ll get over this one fast. Onward, right?
That makes sense for NEU, I wasn’t thinking of it in terms of co ops I guess.
I say everyone should go out to eat anytime they can between now and May 1 or until deposits (as in the final for real one lol) are made.
Survival mode!
Congrats @curiositycat333 @linsweet @RightCoaster @mamaedefamilia on the awesome acceptances! <:-P <:-P <:-P <:-P
