@WhereIsMyKindle We already visited OU. D will apply only if she is NMSF, in which case it will be her “Plan A” school.
I think Univ. of Md Coll. Park is only Coalition App - that seems so odd - that App is brand new!! Can’t believe some schools are going to use the new app exclusively - need to investigate.
@2muchquan The “nope” answer to “Any questions?” drives me crazy. After witnessing this three or four times, I taught my son to always have a question in his back pocket just in case this pops up again - and it will. I’m curious to see how he handles it.
@WhereIsMyKindle, S and H are visiting OU next week. I will hopefully be able to post a 2nd hand visit report at the end of next week. He scheduled the visit through the honors college and will be having some sort of visit/meeting with the CS department.
We are visiting U of Oklahoma in August. I am looking forward to reading all the upcoming reports!
We are also planning to visit Alabama and UCF in August. Is anyone else checking out UCF? I hear a lot of talk about Alabama and Oklahoma for NM kids, but not so much UCF.
UCF honors is on our maybe list. It’s SOoooooo big.
@thermom I think I have the same cold as your kid. My nose is running like a faucet and I want to curl up in a ball and whimper. Alas, I have homework. Where is the world’s smallest violin? I need it.
D17 had a lot of questions about the cs departments that I couldn’t data mine (and frankly don’t have enough time to right now, and she does), so I said talk to the departments directly. She was like, oh, they want to talk to me? 
I said maybe not so much over the summer, but if you can’t get them to talk to you in the fall that’s kind of a heads up.
D18 just got an impromptu job at a camp for a week teaching kids art-I did the same thing for one summer when I was her age, I got a huge kick out of it. We just have to figure out how to get her there and back. D17 may be pressed into FamilyUber duty…
@mommertons No Bama and UCF on our list bc they don’t offer enough Russian. Uof SC and UKy also have good NM scholarships as well.
Sorry for my ignorance but which school is UCF? Also, can people list colleges they know are on the coalition app so we can start a list? We are just about to launch into essays so a different set of prompts would be a new headache…
University of Central Florida (at least, that’s the one I’m talking about)
Luckily the Coalition App has an essay of your choice option. So if your kid just writes a CommonApp essay from one of the designated prompts, they can reuse it for the Coalition App if necessary.
@carachel2 we did the A&M tour last year it was dreadful!! Not sure what the president is doing but they need to make changes even tu blew it away. A&M is on my daughters list automatic admit with test scores since we are OOS. I’ll be surprised if she chooses A&M since she loved Rice and Penn. I don’t think I could even get accepted again I got my B.S. In Chem E. In '82

We won’t be visiting Alabama nor UCF (pesky Arabic!).
Not a happy camper than UM-CP will be using the Coalition app. Please oh please let them use Common App too! Three other schools on the Short List of Possibilities (SLOP for short :)) ) are on that list for Coalition App, so I’ll need to investigate if they’ll be accepting other application types.

We are visiting UCF because I told my D that we were going to visit Alabama and Oklahoma, and she could choose one other school with good NM scholarships. I was hoping she would pick Kentucky or New Mexico. Nope, she chose UCF. I’m pretty sure that the opportunity to visit the Wizarding World while we’re in the area had more than a little impact on her decision.
We are taking my daughter to visit Kentucky this weekend. And will visit Michigan State this summer. My daughter loves horses so I am sure UK will get good reviews. LOL
@WhereIsMyKindle - I saw this list but a lot of these schools are also on the common app. I meant a list of schools that are not on common app but are on the coalition app…
