Thank you @longwood! We knew she would get in, but it is nice to see it for real:)
One of the best things about an early acceptance is taking the pressure off. =D>
S17 decided not to retake the ACT. Turns out it was a good decision, because homework has picked up a lot–plus there are essays, essays, essays.
@BigPapiofthree when my DD got hers two years ago, it came in the mail about a week or two after her acceptance. And she applied in August so it was in the first wave.
S17 also got in today. Presidential soon to follow. Will apply to Honors and for Scholarships this weekend. He has decided he wants to go to Bama so for now we are pretty set. Roll Tide!
well, roll tide for you people with early admits, congrats.
No applications submitted here yet, probably at end of the month.
@pockerqueen You and he will be the envy of everyone for weeks to come! Congrats for having the stress of application season behind you and a decision made! (Definitely wish we were there!!)
@RightCoaster No college apps finished here, either. I ordered test scores to be sent to all of her schools when I paid for her test to be sent to NMSC. Our goal is to have several submitted by Friday.
@CT1417 I found that odd as well. I guess they really value SAT II scores.
The ONLY thing I seem to have accomplished was using one of the free score reports to send to NM organization last spring. I used one of the subject test dates but assume all prior testing history also went. Of course, I did not think of this on my own, but from reading a post here.
Congrats to those with acceptances—Woo Hoo! SO exciting!
I didn’t have any ACT scores sent to colleges yet. So what do I need to do when we get ready to submit apps? Log in, tell them where to send score and pay a fee? I think that’s what I remember. How long does it take them to submit a score to a school?
@ct1416 Dd thought she had sent her SAT when she took a subject test, but when she went in to verify, the only thing she could confirm had been sent was the subject test.
Congrats on all the acceptances! Special congrats to those who are officially done!!!
D is probably in this right up to the last day to commit.
@Mom2aphysicsgeek – OK, now you have me worried…
So when I log into his CB account and go to the May subject test, it shows a report sent to NMSC Scholarship Admin. When I download that report, it shows his testing history to date.
When I go to the June subject test, it shows that no score reports have been sent, which is correct.
When I click through on any of the SAT dates, it also shows that scores were sent to NMSC. SO…I should be OK, correct?
I am not even sure if he will even do anything with this NM, but I may as well have the ducks in line. Of course, not a single word from the HS yet and I have already forgotten the application deadline that someone told me. Must start googling…
Summer CS research not complete (not for school), no essays written, CA incomplete…and the researcher in him continues to ponder these essays endlessly.
Well…We are in at UA…now wait for scholarship information and applying to honors college.
Congratulations to all who heard from UA today! Your kids (and you) must be breathing sighs of relief for the first (or second?) acceptance
Back to macro and then essay triage :))
Our daughter is among the admits to Alabama today, with a Presidential and (presumably, given her stats) an invitation to apply to the University Fellows to follow.
As it stands now among where she’s been admitted (two schools), she prefers Kansas with the honors program to Alabama with honors but not University Fellows. My checkbook, however, even with the merit aid to Kansas, prefers Alabama.
Oh well. Applications to the non-automatic schools are going out over the next couple months, just to eventually make it all still more difficult at her.
@ct1417 I am not sure. She told me that when she looked at her history it only showed her subject test sent to NMSC, not the actual SAT. I didn’t actually look through anything myself. I am just a body with a credit card.
@dfbdfb …where did you find that your D got the Presidential scholarship on her mybama at? My S got accepted today and there is not anything under scholarships. Did we miss the boat?
Huge congrats on the Bama acceptances (and any others received already! Just started school today - Common App essay nearly done and several supps. LoRs hopefully in the works by staff. First deadline here is Oct. 15 for GATech EA. Is it ok to submit common app before the LoRs are done - need those by the EA deadlines? Does school counselor automatically send most recent transcript? thanks!!!
@Mom2aphysicsgeek – RE: body with a checkbook. There was a parent on perhaps the 2014 thread with the screen name of I Just Drive. I loved that…as that is the way I felt some days.
