@STEM2017 I join you in the 32 cups! I am on number3:) Just dropped my daughter off as well.
Son17 decided to take the Act 1 more time. Wasn’t sure he was going to, he thought about blowing it off. He did make an attempt to study and review a bit, but I doubt it will make a difference. But I like his determination. We’ll see if gets any sort of improvement, and if not we’ll it’s his last test anyways!! Yay
Good luck to the fellow ACT takers! I made the special mom full hot breakfast and now it’s up to her and her lucky socks.
@IABooks …amen! Can’t believe they are squeaking in new types of questions without officially changing the test. D was home sick yesterday but felt good enough to crack a book by the afternoon and she says she was super glad she pulled up the ACT online review to see some whole new sections.
:::fingers crossed::::: for all of our test takers!
D is done after this one. For sure.
Steady pencils and calm thoughts for all the ACT takers!
D is just so happy to be done with admissions testing (Her second and final ACT was in February.)
Question for you ACT experts. Sorry to even start this discussion now, but when is the earliest we can expect results? With writing and without?
@itsgettingreal17 I agree, I should have clarified that not all schools track demonstrated interest, but for those that do, they really do according to the director of admissions of this highly selective school who was the keynote of our college night.
They shared another very interesting tidbit that is publicly available, but I had never seen or heard of and that was results from a NACAC survey included in the State of College Admission report on what colleges use to evaluate prospective students. It was a little surprising to me the weight assigned to each category, and how little extracurriculars matter. It’s mainly grades in college prep classes and the academic rigor of the courseload in the context of the school and what’s available to the student.
Specifically, there are objective things (grades in college prep classes, curriculum, test scores, grades in general) and then subjective things which act as the tie breakers (essay, demonstrated interest, counselor recommendation, class rank, teacher recommendation, and extracurriculars).
Hopefully I’m allowed to link to the press release which includes the full report.

@STEM2017 …not this coming Tuesday but the next Tuesday. And then after Tuesday they start releasing the scores in batches like twice a week. The first time D took the ACT we waited almost 1.5 months. It was crazy!
Every time after that, her score has come out exactly 10 days after the test.
Go to the ACT log in page now and log in.
For todays test date it says “view/print ticket”
As the first score release date starts to approach, log in and check the account. The “view/print” ticket will change to “tested” about 10-15 hrs before the score will be released.
If it doesn’t change to tested it is likely the score will be released in the next batch. Or the one after that. Or the one after that.
Thanks @carachel2 Was that with writing or without?
QOTD: College Rep nights-we haven’t gone to any, because I feel like contact with one person isn’t really going to teach us anything we can’t learn on the internet.
Good luck to all the ACT takers! D17’s bf is one of them.
Hi @michiganbuckeye and welcome to our circus
I have friends my age who are having hysterectomies, and friends getting pregnant. It’s crazy one of my friends is in her mid 40’s, pregnant for the first time-she’s like, oh stars (didn’t plan on ever having kids).
No college rep nights for us. But D will continue to attend local college events (currently signed up for one next weekend) and will meet with any reps that she hasn’t already met with during school (I doubt there are any of those, however).
@STEM2017 10 days after the test is the amores without writing. It takes a few more weeks if I remember correctly to get the writing score back.
Good luck to all the ACT testers this morning. Ds is hoping for 1 more point to open up some scholarship opportunities but we are note stressing this one and it si his last last for sure!
I have a friend from my college days commenting the other day about how funny it was that I was bringing my son for a visit at our alma mater and she is in the middle of potty training-totally different stages of life for people the same age.
@STEM2017 September 20th for the composite and I think a week later for writing. I have always(twice) gone on the very first day right about 5am and gotten them.
And also…the email notifying you that your scores are ready comes out about a week LATER than when the scores are actually posted.
Good luck to all the parents of ACT-takers!
@STEM2017 – is there symbolism in the 32 cups of coffee? Aiming for that score?
I recall the ACT score debacle last September and really hope they manage to avoid that this time. Some test-takers received scores on time, but some were still waiting for the essay score, and with it the ‘complete score’, at the end of October. I think ‘complete’ is the term and not ‘composite’. Both ACT and CB have made quite the mess of testing and reporting this past year. Hope this last round goes smoothly for everyone.
@STEM2017 that was supposed to say the scores without writing, not amores. I should have proofread my reply more carefully. That’s what I get for typing on a phone!
@STEM2017 S17 took the Dec 12 2015 ACT. First wave of results were released on Dec 22. After the first wave, the ACT results release on Tuesdays and Fridays. With Dec 25 and Jan 1 being the next two Fridays and kids (seniors) needing to figure out if they should rush scores for their apps, there was a bit of panic on the ACT results thread. My son’s ACT score was released on Christmas morning! My son doesn’t track when tests scores are released so he had no idea to start checking on Dec 22. I couldn’t help myself and checked on the first Friday after the first release (Christmas) knowing I could decide if I wanted to share them with him. It ended up being a happy, unexpected gift. The writing scores get uploaded randomly. My son got his writing score in mid-January and it was just middle of the day when it posted. The scores report is not sent to schools until the writing score is available and they released writing scores for a couple of weeks after S17 had received his.
Hope all of the ACT takers are feeling the love sent their way this morning.
Good luck all ACT takers today. Hoping this will be the score all need and desire.
No ACT in our household this weekend (or this fall) but I will join you all in the coffee-drinking. Good luck to everyone!
Now that I have gazillion rows and columns in my spreadsheets I was quite annoyed that I could not fix a column header. It was surprisingly easy! I don’t know why it did not work before.
