Parents of the HS Class of 2018 (Part 1)

@apraxiamom We are scheduled for a tour at CofC July 28! It is pretty high on DD’s list right now. Have fun.

@bearcatfan I read somewhere it was a sign of demonstrated interest to use their application, but ultimately, if in the common app supplemental essays you make it clear why you want to go to THIS school, it ultimately makes very little difference.

One more step … we created both the student and the parent/practice Common App accounts.

Can we create the student and parent ids for the FAFSA now or should we wait until October 1? Is it just a matter of creating two separate accounts, not labeled parent or student? I didn’t get very far before I decided to ask the experts

For those either physically located in the Northeast or using VPN/proxy to get an IP address there, AP scores are up. S did great! Four 5’s and two 4’s, added to his previous two 5’s he qualified for the National AP Scholar award!

We are seeing the High Volume page and not able to access the scores. :frowning:

finally able to view the scores. D18 did great.

Waiting for D to get up for work and check her score…

I’m waiting, too. D is at swim practice, then has a dentist appointment, then goes straight to her job. I’m not sure if she’ll take the time to check her scores anytime soon.

Four 5s, one 4. Happy girl. She worked her tushie off.

Thanks for passing along the early score sites. The hack worked and has been passed along to some fellow anxious mothers. D18 got a 5 in APush & Calc AB, 4 in Lang (which we will take).

I also used the hack (this one: https://apstudents.net/scores/) to check D’s scores but I have not told her I did that! I’ll tell her about the site so she can check today if she wants. She’s going to be very happy, and I’m really happy for her.

Thanks you @kassh4 for posting the website.

S’18 called this morning on his way to practice. He did great and is very happy. Qualifies for the Capstone Diploma and as a National AP Scholar.

We only had one (AP CHEM) to check, and the result was ok. Next wait, SAT subject tests …

AP score release system successfully hacked. Why they do the roll out of scores, it is just silliy IMO.

So, from the back of the classroom…DD is an AP scholar with Distinction (5 of 6 exams with a 4) FYI apparently writing the Lyrics to Hamilton on your Physics 1 FRQs, no matter how impressive that feat may be, will only earn you a 1. 8-} <:-P

I imagine they do the staggered rollout to keep their servers from crashing, since there are so many more AP students than any one sitting of the SAT. Even with the stagger there were access problems this morning.

ETA: I don’t understand the delay in getting scores to students though; the CB site and twitter feed have been reporting score distributions for exams since mid June, and when I checked on the score report sent to S’s college (he used his free report option when he completed his AP packet) it indicated his scores had been sent to the school on June 24. Not sure what they could possibly be doing that necessitates a two-week delay between sending to the college and giving the info to the student.

Checked the early score site. Statistics was about what we expected. :frowning:

S used the early score sites to find his scores this morning and called me from GSP (he is on week two of a residential five week program on one of our in-state college campuses this summer). Happy kid, proud dad! 5s in Bio and Stats, 4s in Eng Lang, Calc AB and APUSH. Good enough for National AP Scholar, a nice add to the applications this fall.

Hope all get the results they wanted and are proud of all the hard work they put in.

Since S is done with ACT/SAT, isn’t applying anywhere that requires SAT subject tests, I am thinking this might be the last time we are in waiting mode for test scores - now that is something to be grateful for!!!

Same here. Used the hack. S got three 5s and one one 4 in Calc AB

I am looking for suggestions for the best study guides for the Math II and Physics SAT II exams. Also any suggestions for resources for a 36 goal on the ACT math? Thanks in advance.

D will be very happy with her scores. Maybe it will prod her to get more essays done!
