And the whole “not believing in my kid”, oh boy, I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been accused of that. You should see my D’s list…all reaches except for 1 safety. Thank Goodness for 1 good safety, that she honestly would be very happy at, and thank goodness she applied there EA just in case she gets an unpleasant surprise.
Based on Naviance, we have very very few applying to Ivys. Less than one per year applying to Harvard. Ivys are really far from us – we have a ton apply to Stanford, and it looks like our acceptance rate is about double the overall pool (8-10%) even though it’s a large, extremely economically diverse public school.
Successful.
I think it’s a cop out answer, but I am sticking with it.

I call major BS on some community service I’ve heard about on CC. I’m not going to go into specifics, lest I insult anyone. But let’s just say a lot of the community service or research projects mentioned by some would not let a high schooler near them with a 10-foot pole. I could take some of my daughter’s community service and make it sound like she fulfilled all the beatitudes in her spare time.
My one word? Fulfilled.
I’m stealing Purpose.
