@pkgny2022, that’s how older D was. It was like she needed a souvenir from each place we visited! We quickly went from sweatshirts to t-shirts to very small key chains. Luckily, D18 has really only cared about swag from one place where she was accepted.
DS just got the following email from Ole Miss. How can they ask us to confirm at this time? May 1 is the commit date. Why not have the option to choose “I am still strongly considering Ole Miss but have not made a final decision yet”.
Greetings from the University of Mississippi. Congratulations once again on your acceptance
for admission!
It is my sincere hope that you are still considering attending the University of Mississippi. In
an effort to help us determine the resources needed for our incoming class of freshman
students and new transfers, we are asking all admitted students at this time to confirm your
intentions to attend Ole Miss.
You can go to www.olemiss.edu/student_confirm to login using your myOleMiss webID and password.
Choose one of the following options:
o 1) Yes, I am an Ole Miss Rebel!
o 2) I wish to change my admissions year/term.
o 3) *No, I do not plan to enroll or attend.
o 4) “TAG” me for a future admissions term (Transfer Admissions Guarantee)
*Please Note: By selecting this option your application for
admission to the University of Mississippi will be withdrawn.
Based upon the option you select, there may be an accompanying prompt to complete the process.
Thank you for taking the time to assist the University of Mississippi in this important matter. If
you have questions, please contact the Office of Admissions at (662) 915-7226.
What do we do with all the Tshirts/sweatshirts from the schools our kids aren’t going to go to? We should set up a swap!
@melvin123 DS did not buy a lot of tshirts but he did get several for free and his sister (D20) has gladly taken them off his hands.
@S18D20mom I would not respond until you have an answer.
As for tshirts they will become Pajama shirts. LOL
@S18D20mom Same email here. I’m not planning on responding. Think I’ll just sit on it.
We did not purchase any shirts, not even at the dream. DS received many free and has yet to put a single one on. He has always been funny about clothes and graphics and “wearing something that might make people think he does that (insert sport, camp, etc. here)”, when he doesn’t.
@S18D20mom Same email here, only we had already declined some time ago. So we declined again! But I wondered the same thing why no place to mark still thinking about it!
Regarding the Ole Miss email I’m wondering if they are more trying to get a firmer grasp on those that aren’t going before we head into March and financial aid awards?
For us, Ole Miss is a top contender but not a done deal yet. In fact we are heading there next week for a 2nd look and band audition. But he’s not going to commit anywhere until there is no hope for Bama.
I have access to both my daughters’ emails, both school and personal. In the case of my older daughter, I am able to take care of a lot of college and scholarship stuff without her and she’s fine with that.
I also have access to her UC student account and student email. At some point she will be able to give me parent access but for now I’m just using her log in information. Everything comes to those accounts now so she’d rather I deal with the financial aid stuff.
And I might be weird, but I also have all the log-in information for their Apple IDs, apps and social media. I never use it, but sometimes they will come to me because they forget their passwords, lol.
Re kids not sharing - my D is keeping her thoughts pretty close as well. It’s still anyone’s guess where she’ll end up.
One thing that worked on the summer college tour though was asking for a number score on a scale of 10 immediately after each visit. They ranged from 6 to 9, so that was fairly illuminating. I have those recorded here on CC for posterity along with our visit reports - I plan to go back & show those to her to jog her memory when final decision time comes around.
She and I are off to UCF tomorrow, along with an extended visit to Harry Potter World - visit report to come!
I want to go to Harry Potter World.
Harry Potter World is awesome. I highly recommend the Dragon Stout.
Harry Potter world is the best. Butter beer. Rides. Wands. Take 2 days and start at hp first thing in the am, take the hogwarts express over to the other side and go down. Then the next day start on the other side and reverse.
Is anyone else waiting on a bunch of LACs? D has a couple great university options, one deferral, and a pack of “end of March” applications. She’s handling it well but every once in a while says, I just wish I knew where I was going to college.
We’re waiting on one late app; she applied in mid January, so it hasn’t been all that long.
Of course, it’s her number one choice at this point.
@klbmom18 D18 is still waiting for 2 RD and 2 deferrals late March, she has 4 admissions and rejections from multiple scholarship applications so far. We are weary from this process, but just another month to see it through and fairly weigh all the options…congratulations to those that are done and best of luck to those with decisions still to be made.
When DD and I toured UAH we went to the bookstore where she kept bugging me to buy myself a shirt - she gets hoodies everywhere she goes but I don’t. I told her I wasn’t buying anything unless this school was a serious contender. “Mom, buy the shirt and get one for Dad too” I admit, it was a moment…
We are basically waiting on everything. D has 2 EA acceptances, one is a real option, the other isn’t really. But the vast majority are still in limbo.
Being in California, we are still waiting for several college decisions to come in. Feels like a very long wait. My DS18 is also not talking much. I asked him if he had been thinking of which schools would be his top choices and if he was thinking through the criteria that would be important to him, etc. His response “yes.” That’s it, just one word. Grrrr!
Friday we are visiting Harvey Mudd, one of his reach schools. Has anyone else visited there?
