D came home today and said 5(!) kids in her class got accepted to Northeastern ED yesterday. That’s out of a senior class of about 100 kids. Great for them, but looks like my D’s (already slim) chance of being accepted EA just went down even more. Maybe that’s why she sent in those other 2 apps today.
@momzilla2D Wow, that’s a lot from one small school. That was D19’s first choice and her only rejection. There were four applicants from her private school about the same size (115). One girl, a friend of D’s, who applied had really high stats and higher class rank (top 10 class rank) but got waitlisted. We were surprised the friend didn’t get in. Thankfully D is very happy where she ended up but hope your D has a better outcome!
I appreciate the info @eandesmom and it will certainly be on the forefront of my mind as we navigate this decision.
Congrats to your son, @infinitewaves!
On relocation, we would love to move but are firmly stuck in the DC area for work until retirement, so at least another 15 to 18 years or so since early retirement is not happening. We may downsize into something else around here but the prices are inflated and it would probably be a higher mortgage payment than we have with our house. When the time comes, we’re headed west.
S19 got his first acceptance from Indiana U but he decided after applying that he’s not going to audition there after all and has no particular interest in the school otherwise. Ah well, at least we know there wasn’t something egregiously wrong with his application.
One week to go!!
I have made the executive decision that is good for my stress level to seek solace in the mountains and will head north to ski the next 4 days :). I’ve organized and cleaned the house, left the rest of the family with food and provisions to survive. They’ll be fine!
I have a couple of events to attend when I return which will suck up he rest of my time, and then boom it’s Friday.
Hopefully some of you get acceptances while I’m gone!!
I meant to post this in the other thread, but works just as well here!! I see a lot of you have early acceptances already and good luck to the rest still waiting.
@ninakatarina My DH was born in Havre de Grace!
We have never talked about what we would do if DH ever retires. We live in an are that people come to retire so maybe we will just stay. I did tell him I want to go to the mountains at least part time. I would love to be one of those old people who go work at Yellowstone for the summer!
@momtogkc National Park host is my dream too! See you there
I need to be talked off the ledge. Twin B applied ED to University of Richmond. They dropped letters in the mail today. We have 6-10 inches of snow coming. If that happens, we won’t get mail until next Wednesday. Really? How is this timing even possible? North Carolina shuts down with 2 inches of snow. I’m not sure whether she knows they mailed them today, but I hope not.
@TwinMom2023 we need a “hugs” button! Feel ya there!
@TwinMom2023 no portal updates huh, only snail mail? Yikes. I am worried about this weather, supposed to fly to Charlotte on Monday via Raleigh and then Chattanooga on Tuesday. Should be interesting.
@TwinMom2023 Ugh, Richmond keeps it old school? No digital decisions? Yet you know that the decision is in the mail? No wonder you are on the ledge. C’mon on down. We got you. Maybe that snow will skip you and head right up north to me in Pennsylvania. I would be more than happy to to take one for the team and work from home Monday and/or Tuesday if it means you getting the mail on time. Hang in there!
Manhattan College also does the snail mail thing. I am sure that letter going USPS from New York to Seattle will arrive real quick, lol!!
@TwinMom2023 - Oh no. Hoping the forecast is wrong…no portal?? That’s nuts. Hang in there…
D19 was accepted to Delaware today!
YAY @DCNatFan - Great news! Great school!
Congrats to your daughter @DCNatFan
I am on pins and needles as my D will likely have 4-6 answers in the next week.
Congrats @DCNatFan !
Congrats @DCNatFan
@DCNatFan congrats!! No War Eagle then? Being a southern transplant and not familiar with the sometimes over the top large university pride, I find the War Eagle thing cool. D19 has taken to greeting her Spanish teacher with it en espanol.
Congrats @DCNatFan!
We have one school where the portal says “decision made” for at least a week now and no mailing!! It’s driving my hubby nuts.
