@cakeisgreat and @Longhaul - Congrats on the decisions!
Congrats @Longhaul .
Congratulations to all. D has made her decision. It came down to Whitman or Skidmore. After attending admitted student day Friday, she donned her Skidmore sweatshirt this morning and announced her decision, officially. She took the long way round to where we started (I wanted her to apply ED to Skidmore), but she did the process her way and now will not wonder if she would have preferred another school. On we go!
@Turquoise52 Congratulations to your daughter on her decision! Sounds like she made a good decision.
Congratulations to all who have made a decision! @Longhaul my friendās D is a junior at Lynchburg - she loves it! @cakeisgreat, ahhhh, Charleston. Love that city!
@Turquoise52 I think sometimes one last visit is necessary for a kid to settle any niggling thoughts and make them trust they have made the right decision to go somewhere else. Letting the process play out might prevent her from later saying āwhat ifā¦ā
DS19 made his decision back in February (he is playing a sport there) but we still had to wait for acceptance which got very delayed b/c our local USPS is crap - three weeks to arrive based on the postmark. DS19 and dh went to the Accepted Students Open House yesterday. DS19 was reluctant to go since he already knew he was attending, but it was a good chance for him to learn more about what life was like there. He bumped into some kids from his team in the cafeteria, so dh peppered them with questions and got some nice feedback. Also, I could not figure out based on the info in his accepted letter nor on the portal, how to actually pay the deposit! So dh took care of that yesterday with a visit to the business office so his decision is official. They came home with lots of swag for the family as well.
Congrats on the decisions @Turquoise52 @Longhaul and @cakeisgreat. Nice to have that done!
Over here, D is still decidingā¦
@turquoise52 congratulations! Weāll be visiting this summer for D20!
@4kids4us congrats on being official with all the swag
@longhaul congratulations to you/yours too!
Hi everyone,
I am working on updating the results thread. There are some blanks in the doc regarding results so if you want to update anything, please do
@eandesmom Sorry for my technical incompetence⦠where is the results thread?
@rfm512 the results thread is really just me posting the compiled results from posters who choose to contribute their information. If you would like to participate you can PM me and I will provide the info on how to contribute.
Received the postcard in the mail for DS19 to pick up his cap and gown on Fri. Where did this year go?
@carolinamom2boys having that feeling myselfā¦
@Longhaul Yay. Congrats and it is nice to be done isnāt it!!
@4kids4us Dang, that was a long wait and so stressful
Iāve been totally buried at work lately and so excited for everyone. My girls graduate is exactly six weeks. I am sad and anxious for me and happy for them.
Just flying back from Manhattan College. My daughter will likely attend but another money talk is needed. The other choices are $44k less and $57k less overall.
Have not posted in a while. We are kind of stuck and wondering if any are in a similar situation. Dd has made her decision but we are still wating on a financial appealā¦and we will not be able to make it happen if the appeal is not successful. D19 had a wonderful application process (thanks in part to this group
) Accepted to 8 direct entry DPT programs, 2 excellent safties and waitlisted at super reach and denied at another super reach. Hoping to hear back on appeal soon. Cutting this too close for comfort!
@EENYMum
We are also cutting it close. They told my D to write a letter to appeal for more merit.
I can spend the $ but my wife is nervous/pissy about it.
Hopefully it works out well and both of our kids have options which is good.
I think I may be in the minority here, but I just canāt wait for high school to be over. D is counting the days to graduation (77) and so am I. 4 years of a grueling schedule in school and out have taken their toll. She is just going through the motions at this point and complaining about it bitterly. Itās stress, I know, because AP and IB tests are coming up. But, if she has āsenioritisā, is it not okay to admit I have āparentitisā? To be clear though, I absolutely canāt wait to see what she does in college. She is so ready!
Iām sorry to hear about the wait on financial appeals, the waiting is so hard! I have recently gone back to work (part time) after 15 years as a SAHM. Iāve also changed fields and am totally overwhelmed, but it is taking the sting out of paying for college. I will likely go full time after D21 goes to college.
@Acersaccharum āParentitusā LOL ?
I asked this question on the Parent Plus loan page, perhaps someone here can provide clarity.
When approved for parent plus loan and the student changes mind about listed school on the application, does the loan transfer over to the committed school or do I need to reapply? Got ahead of myself applying early to explore all options but student has not committed anywhere yet. Wonder how long the approval period is, cant seem to locate clear answers.
I think the pre approval is either 4 or 6 months. You have to time it by when the bill is due I think.
I remember with S17 doing something similar, but I canāt recall if it was before he committed or not.
