I read that as ‘and’, but really have no idea. Typical CB communication that is less than clear.
Depending on how things shake out, I wonder if colleges would accept PSAT scores in lieu of an SAT. Maybe better than applying TO, where possible. Thoughts?
It says “and” so I took it to mean both. Maybe just poorly worded?
Test optional doesn’t work for D21 - not easy to earn A’s at her school so I don’t think she’d do herself any favors going optional. She has a good score, not outstanding but hopefully good enough to avoid test optional!
Now I wish I’d finished registering S21 for the June SAT. I was holding off on submitting payment for a few days, but wish I’d just paid so he’d be able to register early for the fall. He has one score from October, but its not one he wants to apply with. He was hoping to raise it by 50-100 points with some prep.
He received and filled out the survey from CB about a possible online SAT. He actually seemed excited about the possibility of an online test!
If your student already took a test, looks like they will not be able to register for an SAT unless there is room after the students who registered for June and haven’t taken an SAT yet register for their first test. But not sure how that will all work.
Will students registered for June receive refunds?
In May, students registered for June can transfer their registration to one of the fall SAT administrations for free. Students who want to cancel their SAT registration instead can get a refund by contacting Customer Service.
So, those registered for June get a higher priority?
@Mwfan1921 Yes, my junior son took one time SAT and is registered for June SAT for a retake. Not sure if we get the priority to register for FALL administrations.
Agreed…it’s unclear from CB’s press release whether the student has to meet both conditions (registered for June and hasn’t taken the test yet) or just one.
My D has a score from August 2019 and was registered for June 2020 to retest. It’ll likely not matter since if we’re excluded from this “early access,” I think we’ll find a seat somewhere around here.
S21 has two AP scores (World History and European History) and his one subject
Test is World History so that’s the best we’ve got to submit to them. But better than nothing I suppose.
(I know it’s odd that he doesn’t have more AP’s; it’s bc he is in AICE program and the program mostly transitions from AP to AICE classes starting their junior year.)
@sushiritto My niece just got the email - she has an SAT score already and was registered for June. She does get priority registration for August or later.
My son took it last November and than was supposed to take it in March (cancelled) then June…this is the email I just got
“Because (son’s name) was registered for June, (son’s name) will have early access to registration for the August, September, and October administrations. (son’s name) June registration will remain in their account, and they may transfer it, free of charge, to one of the summer or fall administrations when registration opens in May. We’ll notify you when the exact date is available. If they choose to cancel their registration and receive a refund, please call Customer Service at 866-756-7346 (domestic) or +1-212-713-7789 (international).”
At this point I’m hoping and praying his number one choice (state flagship public) goes TO…testing was my son’s weakest link anyway…with a 1Q class rank, strong EC’s and a strong Essay, I think he’d fare better.
We have a May virtual admission session set so I hope the AO’s have an answer on whether they will be going TO or not for Class of 2021 applications.
In the mean time, he’s going to continue to beef up his resume anyway he can. When we toured campus in Feb, S21 really enjoyed a certain professors’ session for one of his desired majors and spoke with him a little afterwards…today he emailed that prof to ask if he could sit in on one his Zoom classes/lectures. Let’s see how that goes.
My son was supposed to take the SAT in school in March. He has accommodations so had extended time. Since it was obviously canceled, I had not signed him up for the June SAT because I wanted to first talk with his counselor at school to find out what the plans were for kids with accommodations (he is in a special program in his h.s. so they handle all his testing. He has not taken the SAT yet. So in his case, he does not have an SAT score, but I had not signed him up for the June test. I’m hoping that perhaps his school will offer an in-school test in early fall to make up for the canceled test. He’s on spring break this week so I’ll be contacting his counselor to find out what he thinks.
We are facing the same with ACT. MY son was signed up for April, but he wasn’t taking it at a Saturday sitting. His school administers the test over a multi-day schedule. I got an email from ACT that b/c my son wasn’t being tested at a national testing center, they could not reschedule him for the June or July sitting and I need to work with our testing coordinator to choose a new test date, but again this will only occur once school is open again.
We had already been looking at TO schools b/c he’s not a good test taker anyway, but it may be that will be our only option. He’s not a high stats kid so we aren’t targeting top schools.
D21 got the email. She had March and May and June cancelled. Not sure what to do about prep now. No testing until Aug at the earliest? How may times is she going to rev up prep and then get stopped in her tracks? I know she’s not the only one.
