D thinks that the AP teachers receive the students’ test answers, but she did not know when they see them-same day as/soon after the test or not until the results are in. Does anyone know?

D said her teachers do get the answers, but not sure if it is same day or not.
D took AP Chem and Physics 1 today. No problems loading pics but she thought the AP Chemistry test was a killer. She said there was one section she was never taught and another section the notes she needed were in her lab book locked at school. She could not finish the test in time but did stop and leave questions blank to give herself plenty of time to upload pics.
AP Physics 1 was easier than chemistry to her.
He strategy is to stop the test before the 5 minutes even if it means leaving questions unanswered to leave herself plenty of time to upload.
I just asked S if he reviewed the APUSH rubric and he said “what rubric”
I told him not worry about these test, he isn’t trying to get college credit. The onRamps classes, he luckily did very well because those are important.
D had Chem and Physics 1 today and had trouble uploading Chem. Of her friend group- only 1 was successful. @TVBingeWatcher2 , she also thought it was challenging and had never seen one of the sections. She thought Physics went very well. She’s doing another practice DBQ for APUSH tonight. Her class has been using the rubric all year and she’s concerned about the time, as she usually takes longer. looking at.
At least 12 kids from D21’s schools could not get AP Physics to submit today. What a joke. D21 on a phone with a friend right now who had problems and she’s still crying. Ugh!
@Rue4 and @homerdog ugh ugh ugh on the submission issues @TVBingeWatcher2 I told S21 to stop and upload with 5 minutes left like your D said even if he’s not done…better to get some points than none. I am looking forward to these AP exams being over!
I’m so sorry about the submission issues. That’s crazy! D told me that she spent part of submission time for chem to finish up balancing an equation. She managed to get it submitted. Wow. I didn’t realize just how lucky she was.
D only has APUSH left. Then she thinks she’ll have projects for the last three weeks of school. The school apparently hasn’t decided exactly how to handle finals, but it sounds like the AP classes can have a final project instead of a final exam.
Good question. D is using her iPad and has not had submission issues either.
I did see something on the college board page about making sure that students had updated their browsers. It does seem unrealistic that everyone would see that. The system should be robust enough to handle an older browser for submission, especially given that so many people may be taking these on older devices since they’re testing from home.
My D is all set to go to Dad’s deserted office building tomorrow to test with reliable, high-speed internet. He has to be there earlier to do some work and then give an online exam that will be finished before the AP test. I was going to drive her up after his exam is finished. But…best-laid plans…H’s car stopped working today despite (or maybe because of) work he had done on the car Tuesday. So he must take my car for the day and she must be ready to leave the house with him at 8 for a 2pm test! Hope she can get to sleep early…her sleep/wake schedule is not what it was in March! Maybe she can cajole her dad to make a run back home to get her after lunch if she just can’t wake in the morning. She did say, though, she is looking forward to the novelty of sitting in a place that is not home for a few hours!
My son took AP Chem today on his iPad and couldn’t submit the second question. The first question and both his AP Calc BC questions were submitted without an issue. I don’t think the problems are device related…
Not really, @homerdog, though she’d probably like the option. She mostly took AP classes for the more rigorous schedule and better standing on college applications. She opted out of taking exams for AP computer science last year and AP physics 1 this year just because she didn’t want the stress. Also taking the AP Lang test next week.
All these submission issues are making me so upset. So far so good for my daughter, but tomorrow (APUSH), my husband has to lead a webinar at the same time as the exam. Fingers crossed it won’t be an issue. I’m hoping the webinar wraps up before she has to submit her response, but I don’t even know if it matters. I’ll still kick everyone and everything else off the internet.
@TVBingeWatcher2 and @Rue4 There were at least two versions of the Chem exam today. Sounds like all three of our kids got the “hard” version. There was a section that my daughter’s class barely covered; she literally learned it could be on the exam this morning in the morning review. Only my daughter and one other girl in the class (that my daughter talks to) got that version of the exam. Her other friends got a completely different one that contained more expected topics.
Which begs the question of - does anyone know if AP tests are scaled (meaning a lower raw score on a harder test can yield the same score as a higher raw score on an easier test)? Have they ever even given multiple forms of the same exam? I know they do it for SAT, but I wasn’t sure about AP.
My daughter just answered my question - from the collegeboard website:
The AP Program designs different exam versions to be of similar difficulty and equivalent in the content and skills they cover. However, some exam versions may be slightly more difficult than others. Despite these minor variations in difficulty, student scores will not be affected. After the exam, differences in difficulty are identified through psychometric equating processes that assign higher and lower “cut scores” required for AP scores of 2, 3, 4, and 5 to reflect the relative difficulty of each version of the exam. This ensures that overall AP scores represent the same levels of achievement, regardless of which version of the exam a student takes.
S21 took Chem and Physics 1 today. He thought Physics was pretty easy, but said Chem was really tough. There were some questions on material they hadn’t covered in class but he’d taught himself last night after watching one of the AP reviews. He said he has no idea if he’ll get a 1 or a 5, that it could really go either way, lol. At least its over; he’s been studying so hard all week!
