I love kettlecorn.

That reminds me though, I got a bag of I think it was Angie’s (already popped) and it was so full of the hulls or whatever those things are called that I had to throw it out. It was really bad.

Orville Reddenbacher mini bag with movie theater butter. I have to admit I’m not too particular. Would eat a lot of these mentioned above!

You are on Team D30 (she calls Pop Secret ā€œthe blue box popcornā€), and are now dead to me.

You are far more refined than either of us, but you can live.

Also too refined. Blast O Butter for me in the Jolly Time family.

Cousin Willie? I have not had that in ages. Might have to try it as a popcorn DMZ.

I’ve heard good things, but will admit it has yet to cross my path (which as one might gather at this point, is a bit of an anomaly).

I’m going to pretend you are the only person who answered. She will never know.

Angie’s does bad quickly

OK, old plan, two apps due on Friday, but S24 will submit tonight instead, because he leaves on the bus in the morning for an overnight winter sports trip.

However, apparently he consulted with a friend, and was assured the wifi on the bus would make it easy to work on apps, and then they can submit together from the hotel tomorrow evening.

Mere minutes later, he was talking about how much he was looking forward to this trip, hanging out with the guys on the bus, his roommate was bringing an Xbox . . . .

This can only end well, I am sure.

That just seems to be how it goes when chasing merit. One of mine has gotten great merit most places (about what expected) but so far 0 from one of the schools. The NPC had given a good merit estimate, I see people posting about merit awards with much lower stats, but at this school, they haven’t gotten anything. This isn’t one of their top choices, so not as much of a bummer as your dd’s situation, but just strange. Actually, now that I think about it, this has happened to both twins. And my other DC didn’t get an honors invite at a school that gave them much higher merit than I’ve seen others post (others who did get honors invite).

I am sorry this has happened to your DD, and sorry that she is disappointed, but she isn’t alone! Hopefully they will get some positive surprises also.

You should start a Chance Me thread and then everyone will inform you it doesnt matter where he goes because most outcomes will be similar and it’s what you make of it.

That’ll make you feel better for 5 minutes.

Meanwhile, you’re drinking more and eating microwave popcorn hoping the XBox won’t work.

9 down, 6 to go, 3 due tomorrow. Practice clearly does make perfect though. His writing has improved more in the past week than in the past 4 years. :sob:

My D24 had all her apps in by Dec but only had one RD so that makes it a bit easier. What I have been nagging her about is the darn honors applications. One down today and would love for her to get the other three done by this weekend. I have even offered a shopping trip bribe on Sunday if she gets them done.

@NUPM I have shortened your name (you are welcome), you should write a book on your college adventures for the year. Very amusing. P.S. Tell your daughter her choice of popcorn is superb!!

More good news. D24 got notification from Southwestern today. $26k/year discount! Without other financial aid, it makes it a smidge more than is affordable, but we’ll see how FAFSA and other stuff goes.

Also, the FAFSA website continues to suck eggs. D24 tried again this evening and yet again, it’s periodically offline for maintenance. It’s become comical now.

The true tragedy is that I was fully planning to enjoy my day and evening off from all this tomorrow.

So of course I said something like, ā€œOK, if that is how you want to play it,ā€ and of course S24 accused me of being passive-aggressive.

Which was totally accurate, but there was no way I was going to admit that. So, I explained, no, no, I just meant it seemed in the past he wanted to submit either with his college counselor or with his parents, but it was truly up to him if he wanted to do it without us this time.

And then he explained he assumed he could get me on the phone as necessary.

So now I am sitting here trying to do the math on when I can start the cocktails and still be competent to help through 11:59:59, factoring in a certain pace of microwave popcorn bags . . . .

I agree with this advice !!!
I am just not up for the complaining the first day back from break!! (Times 2 in my house!) Sheesh !

I will be anxiously awaiting a cocktail - microwave popcorn pairing breakdown tomorrow. A tasting menu could be created and shared.

My thought is you have to catch it early in the morning. Or maybe straight up noon. Or perhaps 3pm PST.
