Congratulations! And thanks for sharing; after reading your post, we asked our daughter to check her application portal and we learned she was accepted to the Rotman program at UofT also! Cheers all around!
Iâm from a part of NYC where people asked if Dartmouth wasnât in fact Monmouth. No, Iâd say. Not exactly.
Congratulations! Make sure he has lunch at UMASS. Food is excellent.
Am I the only nerd who knows of Wesleyan because of How I Met Your Mother?
Meanwhile, my husband subscribes to some service where they send you photos of your mail before itâs delivered, and C24 has a letter about the honors program that theyâre really hoping to get into. The school only seems to have sent the decision via snail mail, so now I get the joy of knowing the information is aallllmost within reach, hoping it actually gets delivered today, and waiting until C gets home around 5.
(would it be bad form to get the mail as soon as it arrives and try to x-ray vision the envelope?)
If there is any chance he will choose CWRU over others heâs already been accepted to it might not be a bad idea to reach out to the AO with a short note saying he is sorry to hear that but he loves CWRU for x reason and is still looking forward of the opportunities there. Case loves demonstrated interest.
Popping in here for an update.
As of last night, D24 has all of her decisions. 5 applications = 5 acceptances! I am over the moon that she has some good choices and feel this result validates her (really, MY) application strategy. She seems to think this is evidence that she should have applied to âharderâ schools
There is no clear frontrunner for her at this point, but pretty sure 2 are out of the running. We plan to attend accepted student events at 3 of the 5. Given the timeline of these events, I donât believe sheâll be ready to make a decision before mid-April.
We have received financial packages (minus any need-based aid, which I donât think weâre eligible for) from 3/5 schools. I donât expect she will be getting any merit from our state flagship, and the last school is a TE one, so until that decision comes out, it is very much up in the air whether it will be financially feasible.
All in all, feeling pretty good about where we are in the process at this point.
Definitely not. Multiple people have referenced this show when I told them my kid was going to Wes.
Same here.
Originally, was thinking about Campania, which has been high on my bucket list for a while. But with aging and somewhat medically frail parents as well as a newly-dropped-off college student stateside, I decided I wasnât comfortable being that far away, or risking the need to cut short a once in a lifetime trip.
So instead we have landed on a trip a bit further down on the bucket list, but exciting nonetheless. Weâre going to hit the big 5 in Utah in late September. Just starting the planning
So the universe can be funny. S24 is with his team at the national finals tournament for his winter sport, the teams are tied and his is the last and decisive match, and frankly he is up against a better player and loses with his whole team watching. Of course others also lost but it was just fate he would be the last.
Mom is there, but I am home with D30, and I finally get around to checking the mail I was supposed to check yesterday. And S24 has gotten the cypher postcard, basically a likely letter, from William & Mary.
So texts are literally crossing each other about the crushing tournament loss and me being incredibly excited for his college news (he is reasonably excited, I am unreasonably excited).
I expect weâll talk more when he gets back, but for nowâI have to figure out an appropriate cocktail for this evening. I think this may be the perfect time to dust off an old favorite I call The Bittersweet Symphony (it is very bitter, and very sweet).
Weâre in Oregon. Daughter loves Lehigh. We either get blank stares or they say âyeehighâ? WTH
We unfortunately live up to the SoCal stereotype of not knowing about anything much outside of California. Its only through these forums that I had ever heard of Wesleyan or any LAC for that matter. And we lived in MA for 12 years and I still didnât hear of Williams even! Iâm so thankful now to be learning of many amazing options for my D26 & D28 coming up.
We live in Washington where there is definitely a focus on West Coast schools. D24 is very used to blank stares when she says she is headed to Vanderbilt. They do perk up a bit when they hear itâs in Nashville as they think that would be a fun place to go to school. One person asked if it was a community college.
Truly random, but I knew someone who teasingly would call it âluh-HIGH!â (emphasized sort of like ârawHIDE!â).
Does your S24 have a favorite yet among his options, or is the field still wide open? We would have had an interesting March and April had ED2 not worked out because the remaining field was large and wide open.
Oh no. Iâm destined to hear that forevermore
Congrats! I am stressing because I am pretty certain the bulk of notifications will come smack in the middle of championships.
Same. Half of ours will come during state final ski races and the others while we are on a plane. Hoping for good WiFi.
Individual timed sport for us too. This happened in December and to say it was rough is an understatement.
I am dead. I suspect I will not be able to see that name again for a while without imagining a lasso swinging cowboy yelling yeeeeeehigh, pardner!
Same here ⊠then we explain where Poughkeepsie is.
