D25 is taking the June 1 exam also. She started reviewing Tuesday after her APLang exam but then didn’t get any review in yesterday because she had a big Spanish test today. She got a pretty good score in March but we’re hoping for 30 more points. We’ll see.
I could have written this verbatim (except 6/14). Not sure how we’ll make it.
One month to go for S25 as well!
Last AP was today though, and tomorrow he’s got school-wide NWEA testing, which is almost funny. It sounds like he’ll be doing some projects for AP bio and his government class for the next few weeks. His calculus teacher made a failed attempt at humor and said that they could start in on BC calc for the next few weeks - that went over well with his class.
We have ten days left, but only really 9 for my s25 because he is in LA for ISEF this week. He just has one more AP (late sitting of Macro Econ since he missed the regular exam this week) and a big Engineering presentation. His school doesn’t do finals any more.
Winding down for both S25 and (S)D25. they both wrap up by May 31.June2 with exams, moving out of dorm and watching the senior class graduate (a Sunday for SD25 school). They are both grinding it out and are truly ready to be done…
My C25 gets, I think, gloating rights over all the other C25s at negative 9 days (not even counting weekends) remaining in the school year.
June 25th is our last day. So, over a month left.
Due to construction at the school they are being let out in 2 weeks which is really early for the district.
Same as well it’s torture (17th)
Such a crazy busy week. Jr prom last night, D looked amazing and her boyfriend was dapper. Little bit of rain during pictures but luckily not enough to ruin anybody’s hair and it passed by quickly. Also the spring concert was earlier in the week, another day was the UDel field trip. Today she’s on her way with the band to Wa DC/VA for the weekend. Looks like heavy rains but the kids will have fun being together. She’s living her best life and fitting in a little bit of academics along the way!
Found out this morning that D25 was elected one of the NHS executives for next year. Feels good to be recognized by her peers as the top of the top.
SAT just came in at a 1490, which is up 100 points from his March test. (and up from his 1430 super score) He really wanted to hit 1500, but he is happy and satisfied with where he is. So we can put the SAT behind us now. Hooray!
Was the math any different from March to May? D25 is taking in June after a disappointing math score in March. I remember we all agreed that the March math was odd.
S25 just shared his SAT score, and it was so much better than he expected it to be. What a relief! 790 reading and writing, 730 math. He had said the math was hard, and he was worried because he had looking online and got the impression that he had the easier second section for the math (something about having more geometry). We had told him not to worry as he couldn’t do anything about it … but it sure is nice to have such a solid score.
I should add, this was the first time he had taken the SAT. He had heard how hard the March SAT math was for a lot of his friends, but we don’t have anything to compare it to. Don’t know if he’ll sit for the June 1 SAT now or not…but the pressure is definitely less now.
I’m not sure if he thought the math was easier, but he did feel like he had a better idea what to expect in May after the March test. And he did pretty targeted review prior to the test on the areas where he knew he was weaker.
Incredibly jealous!
Ouch!
C25 didn’t do as well on the SATs as y’all’s kids, but all of the schools on their list are test optional, so we’ll probably just use the score as “making sure our list is targeted appropriately” rather than sending the scores on to the schools. I’ve told C25 that if they want to take it again, they should really do the free online test prep class, so that they have better “test taking skills”, which will probably boost their scores by 100 pts. This time was completely cold, and in the middle of studying for AP exams, so I didn’t expect much in the way of high scores.
What’s even funnier is I wrote the wrong day - I was going from memory and thought there was something important on the 16th. June 16th is Father’s Day, our last day is ALSO June 14th. Like I said, I am mentally done.
Just as a reminder:
A good SAT score is one that helps you get admitted to a college that you want to go to.
The average SAT score is around 1050. Any score above that would be above average. A score of 1350 would put you in the top 10% of test takers
